In the 10 years I have had a Retirement extension at Jomtien I have never been asked for a map of any kind.

Does not work that way.
Would need to show one year of financials.
No use in placing 800k in bank couple of months prior to April 2023.
I disagree. People change from visa exempt and Tourist Visa to a Non O/extension of stay all the time otherwise there would be no one moving to extensions. 2 or 3 months before his renewal he surely can move 800k to his bank. Is this correct @ubonjoe

I know a lot of people will not agree with me, but I would use an agent this year. You already have the Non O that your extension is based on. An agent I can quote Pattaya rates will charge 13,000 baht, Bangkok will be a bit more. You then have until April 2023 to sort out you finances and get the 800 k back in your bank account, allowing for the qualifying period of course. Using an agent this year does not mean you cant revert to doing it yourself next year.

You are flying Thai airways. Thai follow the end destination rules, in this case the UK. If fully vaccinated.
No pre flight test required.
Passenger Locator Form (PLF), filled out online within 48 hours of flight.
ATK test for day 2 or before ordered online and details of order input on PLF.
Things change on 11th Feb
Requirements are different for unvaccinated.

I have just looked up 55 litre backpacks and they look very big. If this is the case it will obviously be noticed and you will have to pay excess baggage.

Could someone please answer this?
Easy. If fully vacconated. Book your flight. No pre departure test required. Book your day 2 Lateral flow test online. Fill out the Passenger Locator Form online. Fly to the UK. Easy.

Would like to come and visit family, but will not until I can enter the country showing proof of my triple vaccination only. All the other nonsense is just plain stupid, but they've calculated its a money spinner. The testing regime is non existent. Too much risk involved in being locked up for days.
Sorry but you are just making excuses. You have family here bit cant make the effort to come and see them. Shame on you.

Well I have gone back to the UK twice since this nonsense started. 2020 and 2021. Granted I had to do 14 days and then 7 days quarantine on my return bit its worth it to see my grandkids. I disagree about skyhigh airfares I dont know where you got that from. In 2020 a return with Quatar for 23,900 baht. In 2021 a return with Finnair for 21,400 baht and I have just booked my return this year with Qatar for 22,650 baht.

Fit to Fly not needed since last April. T8 not needed since Thailand Pass introduced.

Not there any more. Some bars requiring an ATK test, especially on Soi Baukeau. The area and Tree Town very quiet now after the madness of Christmas and the New Year.

There are no unvaccinated 7 day quarantines, it is 10 or 14 days if unvaxxed.
7 days is for fully vaccinated.I have not heard of any change in quarantine rules for them.
And I am quiet certain that T&G people are supposed to remain strictly in their rooms until they get PCR result. I just entered less than 2 weeks ago on T&G. The room confinement was clearly explained and enforced. Even when receiving room service, a barrier was placed between the door and the hotel staff delivering it.
One wonders if the hotel in question is new to AQ.
There is no 14 day AQ since the African countries were allowed the same entry rights into Thailand. Its now 7 days for vaccinated people and 10 days for un vaccinated.

ASQ ended months ago. Maybe you are in AQ.

Disagree, Sheryl's post is well relevant and as always very clear. Well done Sheryl!
You just come across as somone in a fan club.
I could have pointed out to the OP exactly the same as @Sheryl. There are no brownie points here for making the OP look stupid.

1. It is not your visa but your extension of permission of stay that was cancelled as a result of leaving without a re-entry permit. Your prior visa ended as soon as you originally entered the country on it, but you had extensions of stay. To keep those you needed to have gotten a re-entry permit.
2. The immigration officer at the airport did not cancel anything. Your visa was long ago cancelled, after initial use, and your extension of stay was voided by leaving the country. All automatic, not an action of the Imm officer at the airport. You presented with neither a valid visa nor a re-entry permit.
2. You were not granted a 30 day tourist visa, immigration at airport cannot issue visas. You were given a visa exempt entry. This is valid for 30 days and can be extended for another 30.
3. You do indeed need to start all over with a new non-O visa and then get an extension of stay based on it. However, you can do so without leaving the country, by applying for it in-country as outlined buy UbonJoe above.
OMG I know you are correct but your post is full of pedantic nonsense. The only helpful point to the OP is your last point. The previous 3 points just point out to him that his terminology is wrong. There is no need for it. As a moderator you should be a bit more sensitive.

I personally would concentrate on the income from pensions and not bother too much on the savings / investments. I usually include a letter out-lining my income and my property situation and send print-outs of my bank statements which clearly show the income as pensions. As this income is 'guaranteed' I presume they view it as being as satisfactory evidence you can support her whilst in the UK.
I owned my own house outright and simply included a copy of the deeds (Land registry) together with a council tax bill. She has been before and complied with the visa regulations so I can't see a problem.
My only gripe is having to fill in a completely new form every time when they presumably have the details and history already.
Cheers sorry I didnt respond I missed your reply.

Everyone should just carry on as normal and if you get sick stay home. This virus is not going anywhere in the short or medium term. As soon as people realise this and accept it we can move on. I predict by the summer that the UK will be treating Covid the same as the yearly endemic flu virus.

Agent recommendation Pattaya

Using an agent to facilitate a retirement extension is perfectly legal. The stamp you get and the signature is exactly the same whether you use an agent or not.
