Sure but they will catch some unsuspecting fellow, its others I am trying to protect. Had I not been itermediate and above at thai for a long time, they would have had me trapped. I knew what they were doing. Very underhanded and nasty.

What the hell is wrong with you. You made a very stupid and newbie error. As soon as you saw that you were being led into a dodgy neighbourhood and a boyfriend was involved you should have been out of there pronto, soaking wet or not. You also had plenty more chances, why hang around whilst they were speaking about stitching you up. I cant believe you werr so naive.

If I was in your position I would put off a Christmas visit to the UK until next Christmas for 2 reasons

The UK is still in the grip of Covid (safer here) & the bun fight at the Thai Embassy there will not be believed until you see it. I doubt that you would get back before July 2021 & that is only if things start to get back to normal.

No ones fault, that is just the way it is & will remein

I really do not know what to think about your comment about the Thai embassy. You do not have to go there. I am married to a Thai who is with me in the UK. I have just yesterday (Tuesday) sorted out our return. I took a massive 2 days. Monday this week I heard as expected that Qatar would now be allowed to fly to Bangkok with qualifying passengers. I changed my flight from 2nd Nov to the 5th to give me more time to get the Covid test. I booked our ASQ hotel 35k for me and 23,750 for my wife. I took out cheap annual $100k insurance in the UK to get through quarantine £68. I already have a re entry permit on my retirement extension so I did not need to apply for a new O visa. We applied online to the embassy through the new online process for pre approval for COE, this was authorised on Monday about 6pm. We both applied for the full COE and this was authorised at 8pm on Tuesday. No visit to the embassy, 6 days was quoted but they did it in 2 easy.

  3. I flew international to the UK in July. The place is like a ghost town. There are a few small restaurants open where you can get a beer but most if not all the shops are closed. The prices have been raised as well. Hardly any passengers. Its also unpleasantly warm in there. They seem to have turned down the air con to save money. Hope this helps.

Never filled out a declaration on arrival. I am a UK citizen with a UK passport, which, I presume, you are not.

Check again you no all. Everyone returning to the UK at the moment has to fill in a passenger locator form. I hope you get caught or delayed for not doing one. You come across as a right door handle.

UPDATE. The reason they know you flew via Dubai my friend is because you have to declare it on the passenger locator form. If you lie you could potentially get fined.

How about the 2nd problem I mentioned, that you can only start the process when you are there - is that point out of date as well?

No your 2nd point was correct about dealing with the embassy where you are going to be located. However nothing stopping you starting the process before you go, the embassy will not know where you are located.

There are no special regulations for this. I keep close tabs as I may be facing a similar situation soon.

Once you leave, you are subject to the same regulations and conditions for entering as anyone else. Which means $100k insurance that includes COVID cover (no exception made for having Thai SS), taking a Embassy-arranged flight, and 14 days quarantine on arrival at your expense.

You are luckier than some (including me) as at least with non-B and work permit you will clearly qualify for a COE.

As I mentioned before, you can now book with Emirates and then get your COE from the Embassy based on that.

So many replies with no actual answers to the questions asked.... just a normal tvf day...

    So to answer your questions:

Currently there are available normal flights OUT of Thailand, but not INTO Thailand. Having a work permit means you can get a certificate of entry, and if complying with all other requirements you'll be able to get on a repatriation flight. 2 problems with that are 1. They are not normal schedule flights, and depending on location not very frequent. 2. You can only start the process through the Thai embassy in the country from which you will return to Thailand from. So you probably won't have a confirmed return date

Please please please only post information if you are convinced it is correct. Unfortunately you are totally wrong. Since Sept 1st Emirates are flying into BKK carrying passengers who qualify to come back. Best not post if you are not up to date.

Thanks, I am mission critical. ????

I will be careful of what I tell them. Because people in Embassies don't like lies. As soon as they ask for my passport number they can check me in the system. I can tell them the real story and look how they react. Worst case they tell me something like: forget it, it will take weeks.

100% go and see your parents. As you have a work permit you qualify to come back. Book your Emirates flight (yes there are still people who dont believe they are flying people in) and get your COE. You will have to do the hotel quarantine. Good luck

Thai nationals (incl. foreigners) must take repatriation flights and they only need a fit-to-fly certificate which doesn't say you aren't infected, you're just symptom free.

Please do not post if you do not know what you are talking about, you will confuse people. The process is exactly as I have described it. If you do some basic investigation you will find you are totally wrong.

Thanks.  Google translates for me as those wishing to use ASQ can do so, not that it's compulsory.  Can you confirm that part?

ETA:  Or is it in the graphic I can't read too well?

Basically if a Thai uses Emirates its ASQ, Covid test, Fit to Fly and I have also seen that they need $100,000 insurance. Reason being is if they get Covid whilst in ASQ they will be transferred to the partner private hospital for treatment. If they do not do all this, they cant fly and have to wait for a repriation flight.

Although your comment about the same conditions makes sense with Emirates mentioning Thais must have a Covid test despite my understanding they couldn't travel, when they don't normally need this test.

The embassy issued a clarification on 3rd September

The Thai consulate in Dubai is quite clear that these flights are for Non-Thai nationals only, although Emirates doesn't reflect that in their requirements.  The consul won't issue a COE to a Thai national going by what they say.  It could be interesting if a Thai starts their journey outside Dubai and their country of origin supplies a COE not knowing what's on the Dubai website.

I am afraid you are mistaken. There has been a statement clarifying this and I can assure you that Thai's have and are flying with Emirates as long as it is under the same conditions as foreigners. I closely follow the main facebook groups advising people on how to return to Thailand. I will try and dig it out.

  13. There is no requirement for a Thai taking a repatriation flight to have a negative Covid test 72 hours before flying, just a fit to fly certificate. A foreigner has to have both. However there is a caveat to this. Emirates are now allowed to carry qualifying people into Thailand. A Thai cannot take one of these flights and go into free state quarantine. They can however choose to go into Alternate State Quarantine (ASQ) and pay. In these circumstances they can take these flights but they are subjected to the same conditions as foreigners. Ie Covid test and fit to fly.

Thanks guys. Issue is settled. Through Doha no papers needed in transit. -John

Looks like your are flying with Qatar. I flew in July. Get ready for a sureal experience. All passengers have to wear a face mask and a face shield during the journey. All stewards on the plane are in full Hazmat suits. Other than than have a safe flight no additional paper work required.

  15. Looks like most of you have not been keeping up to date with the latest info. Just book an Emirates flight ànd get the COE from the local RTE embassy, easy. Emirates have struck a deal to fly qualifying passengers into Thailand until October 24th. The local embassies have confirmed they will issue the COE
