It's the handsome guys that don't go to Pattaya, it's usually the fat, tattooed ones who can't get a girl, and have fat wallets who go there, but in saying that. I do come down to Pattaya, sometimes by myself, though mostly with local mates. and occasionally with the wife. I do like it down there, the western food, the buffets that you can't get in Bangkok, and the long walks etc.
I'm intrigued by these buffets. What's so unique about them?

One of the only bands -up until Morrison' s death- where virtually every song was a gem.Jim was a genius the likes of which we will never see again.Together with the Cure my favorite band of all time. With The Cure though , Robert Smith stayed around too long and produced a lot of crap in later years. Wonder if this would have happened with The Doors, if Jim hadn't died so young .

What's your cut-off point for The Cure, just out of interest?

You must have a bit of a chip on your shoulder to read that into my posts. Just pointing out that the expat population is a lot more diverse than this forum would lead you to think.
As for Krabi, it was nice 15 years ago, but I haven't been back since so I can't tell you what it's like nowadays.

Bless. Did the nasty man make you feel inferior? Poor fragile ego you must have.
Anyway, this is a thread about where we haven't been, so I'm not sure why you want me to say where I have been.

Well why don't you tell us about these places then? I mean you've been all over & stuff. You could just as easily help people instead of being passive aggressive.
Right. Because you're asking so nicely and all...
No wonder most decent expats avoid this place like the plague.

God didn't smile on soibiker, the poor lad was born too late.
Actually, I like a whole bunch of stuff from that era. I just never understood the appeal of a cheesy bar band fronted by a pretentious, poor quality 'poet'. They weren't exactly The Velvet Underground, were they?

I'm not hating or downplaying anything. But seriously, there's more to Thailand these days than the sex industry - even if you can't see it.
-
I originally came for a holiday. I came back because I liked it here.
Yes, this is Thailand - but it's more than just a huge whorehouse. Shame for you if you can't see past that.

Such a hater. Whats your problem? You've been everywhere apparently but have nothing positive or insightful to contribute?
I'm not hating on anyone. Just pointing out that not all men come here for the same reasons - despite what some might think.

Hippy blues. Awful combination.

I reckon every single bloke coming to Thailand for the first time, heads for Pattaya.......well 99.9% of them.
Nope. Just the ones like you.

Presumably nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to marry this woman. You made your bed, and you choose to keep lying in it. Don't blame a whole country for your lack of good judgement or willpower to improve your situation.

Back? I didn't realise I'd been anywhere.

I always reply 'nowhere' as the question usually comes from someone who wants to 'help' you in a way that benefits them.
The other scenario is from bargirls as you walk down a soi so no need to even answer, just smile and walk on by.
You should try to spend more time on a soi that isn't full of people hoping to part you from your money. It really gives you a different spin on the whole Thai experience.

Limited ability to understand new concepts and quick to anger.
As ever, the farang world sends its best to Thailand.

I'd ask somewhere else to be honest. All you'll get here is tedious cynicism and tips on where to meet prostitutes. Maybe try https://www.reddit.com/r/ThailandTourism/ - they're generally a bit more positive.

Why not just stay home? You can buy a lot of extra beer with the price of the airfare.

For some of us there are places we have been going to for years (some with girls and some without) and we just cannot shake the habit. True there are many other options and there is life beyond Asoke. Trouble is that life is a bit similar to what we came here to get a change from.
So somewhere like Udomsuk is a painful reminder of where you came from?
Weird.

How would you know if it is not looking its best since it was your first time there?? Also, don't go if you are looking for cheap because it is a tourist area. Buy your booze at 7-11 if you want to save money. Some people do not want to be harassed by girls like at The Stumble Inn so Hooters is the another option. Enjoy your stay.
If you don't want the girls, why would you go to Nana in the first place? Spread your wings a little - there's life beyond Asoke.

No idea what you're on about now. Sorry.

I think maybe its a generational thing. Going to a pub on your own and making smalltalk with strangers at the bar seems like something old men used to do.
Sure, I've been travelling on my own, a bunch of times. You meet people during the day while you're out and about doing stuff, and go drinking with them.

Have you ever actually been in a pub before??
I had always thought biking was a recreation for loners but perhaps I was wrong.
Surprisingly I seem to have friends myself, but I am allowed out alone from time to to time and I do find myself in parts of the world where friends/contacts are a bit thin on the ground. And sometimes I just happen to fancy going out for a drink. You apparently only go out with the girlfriend. Up to you.
Of course I have.
I've never found myself so low on friends I had to go on my own, though.

Ah ok. So you mean the buffets you can't afford in Bangkok?
