The only way anyone in authority takes any notice is when action is taken. Farmers block a road over rubber, rice prices - all hell breaks lose and the farmers get their wish. Its that simple in Thailand - until we come together in a collective action and have the courage to put ourselves at the front line and confront the archaic laws with persistent reasoned argument and a good dose of media coverage nothing will change.
We know what our rights should be, but are scared of claiming them - So we resort to ranting on web forums.
A bunch of Farangs outside immigration confronting the authorities? Let me know when you plan your protest. I'll bring along a folding chair and some popcorn and watch the fun.

I wouldn't call not wanting to eat it "finicky" either.
I would - judging food purely by the location it's cooked in is pretty weird.

You can eat garbage in a restaurant. You can eat decent food on the street.
I've never found anything with much nutritional value in a 7-11, though.

Sloanes make awesome sausages.

that little dose of "crud" in street food builds your immune system some say.
I think I probably ate so much crud in filthy student kitchens and dodgy bedsits in my youth that my digestive system is bulletproof.

I shared my opinion as well. You clearly missed it.

Oh, and regarding street food being dirty? I've worked in some restaurant kitchens where stuff went on that was downright gross. Weird how people trust what they can't see, but not what they can.

Seems like you can't imagine much outside your comfort zone.
I shared my opinion. Why not share yours, rather than start up your usual tiresome, off-topic, needlessly-adversarial nonsense?

I can't imagine being in a relationship with someone who didn't like the same food as me. I like to be with someone I can share life's pleasures with, and good food is one of the best!

I cook. She cooks. We eat street food. We eat in restaurants. We get takeaway delivered.
Don't most normal people get their food from a variety of sources?

I remember when POTY threads were a light-hearted bit of fun.

Recent events have shown that making a grab for the pussy is not the best move when running for election.

When I read of persons who routinely include their spouse or significant other in their posts -- and there are those besides the 2 on this topic -- it makes me think of the old Burns & Allen routines where Gracie rambles at length about imaginary relatives and I think that some could write on here much the same whether those spouses or significant others were real or not.
Dude, you mention my spouse more often than I do...
-
Clearly my unwillingness to exploit either my spouse or my cat for internet points hurt my chances last time around.

Why ban anyone? It's just the internet. Don't take it too seriously.

I'm immensely proud of my bronze swimming certificate and the fact that Philip Schofield once read out one of my letters in the broom cupboard.

He should run for poster of the year on that other forum. If he manages to gain their unanimous support, he could receive anything up to 20 votes.

No. That was John Inman.

I genuinely have no idea what point this guy is trying to make here. Anyone?

Right. Because everyone else here provides evidence of their wife's existence.
Dude, get a grip.

Well there would be some precedent for you: NancyL always talks about her phantom Hubby and you always talk about your phantom non-Thai wife.
Yeah, I know - a British guy having a British wife does seem kind of far-fetched, doesn't it?

I'm voting for you SB so I can laugh.
You can laugh at me anyway - no need to vote!
After getting into the final last year and then Trumping my campaign, I'm not sure whether I have the stomach to take another run at it.

How is it decided? People vote.
What do they get? Laughed at.
Why doesn't Thailand offer Permanent Residency base on marriage?

Sometimes this kind of thing seems less about the details of having to visit immigration etc, and more about "Why isn't Thailand more grateful for my presence?"
Maybe you're just not as important to Thailand as you think you are.
