  1. Ticks,(fleas maybe) controlled by injection of Ivermectin once a month, the pills take longer to work ,do not give to pups, builds into dogs resistance, can also bathe in RIDD once a week, leave on ,do not take off.

Parvo and distemper vacs buy at govt vet about 180 baht,at times give rabies for free, buy worming pills there too about 50 baht each

  2. While I retired some time ago, because I/we could already afford to, and won't yet be receiving my government-pension for a few more years , I nevertheless look forward with some relish to receiving what I paid for (and had no choice about).

It's like a tax-refund, it just 'feels', better than the same sum from another source ! rolleyes.gif

A feeling which I suspect many others also share ? whistling.gif

This maybe the perfect opportunity to write to the DWP with the proposal that being resident in Thailand and freezing of pension would it not be a good opportunity to freeze my NI payments also

For the record the DWP are duty bound to make OAP otherwise they themselves would be breaking the law.

Old age pensioners in seven days will receive more of an increase in their pension since the demise of their favourite pianist Russ Conway

Talking of my old mate Russ a prompt every year or so to DWP DVLC or any govt dept will usually stop a "Proof of Life " cert being dispatched got to put NI number on request though

  3. Been over this way back,,,,,. If they know you are in Thailand even if the pension is paid into UK bank it will frozen.

There is no agreement with Thailand like there is with the Philippines that's what's needed IMO.

If you don't em where you live and they find out big headache.

Yes being going on for years, and status quo still the same . Hardly going to write to address in UK asking if out of UK,look stupid You may just may be asked if it falls into their lap,but a non-answer is as good as they will get,and as stated no stoppage ,no pay back,no penalties only a frozen pension at the date you choose to tell them,( last week) that's the way it is

    To me some headache..not

  4. Had Nouvo now for quite a bit, needing a change, live in quite busy area and thinking of Filano. Had a Fino too,not much impressed, woman's bike really, but the Filano looks good with suspension and load carrying area, but is it 115cc?,bit low

The PCX bigger bike but no load carrying space, not as versatile too......anything to sway thoughts?

  5. Thanks OP for comments, especially its source

At my age its hard to pull a rubber on once the initial urge has passed, but I do get checked out regularly and after years of unprotected sex, save for warts twice ,nothing to register,so as earlier posted it appears as virtually impossible for heterosexual relationship for man to pick up HIV, not to say its impossible, but highly unlikely

I'm no expert, but I understand that in Africa the problem affects a large percentage of heterosexuals, men and women. So condoms are very necessary for heterosexuals as well. Better to be safe than sorry I reckon.

This thought did cross my mind as I did the Boer war battlefield tour last year, those condoms there, the size of them ,more like a car inner tube,no problems pulling one of them on.

Yes notice given and appreciated, its likened to the guy in another thread with potato crisp addiction, sex takes a grip, cannot get away from it,far from shagging a barbers floor,it aches if not enough, but I do try and choose carefully, stupid I guess ,but a good looking Chinese looking, well kept knocks the (if I wore them) cotton socks off me

  6. Its little wonder so many pensioners keep a British address isnt it?

After years of pure waffle regarding punishment on old age pensioners who do not declare their intention of where/where not to live,it is obvious that to declare is throatcutting

To backtrack on information supplied to DWP as to pensioners whereabouts would be an untruth, however it would be cushioned somewhat by time and space, according to sources

Better to have UK address (EU)s OK too but renewal of UK driving licence would not be available. Months of February and March residency in the UK is a necessity as pension letter detailing uplift in pension is dispatched from DWP,return of that letter to DWP would not be advised

  8. 2012 First contact with rabied dog : 5 shots on left arm, always joked im right handed so dont need the left one lol, Lupus like symptoms overnight for months

2013 bitten by dog 5 shots, one forced by a dozen nurses coming in a van to my house to force vaccinate me. Neurological problems began; memory loss, difficulties to communicate, limbs legs arms non responsive; tremors.

2014 bitten by dogs 3 shots, same troubles plus left arm paralyzed

2015 bitten by a dog 1 shot, starting getting suspicious just about getting over the last vaccines and recovering but left arm still not well

2016 bitten by a dog forced vaccination at hospital while I was semi conscious. After 3 months left arm got worse, then better now recovering.

I will never get vaccinated ever again

Would you care to elaborate on:

    1. Where you met-up with all these rabid dogs?

    2. What is it you do to keep getting bitten by dogs so many times, it can't just be coincidence?

    3. Are you a vet?

Never been bitten on the arse must be a blessing there ,least he saw them coming

    Hell,that's some dog biting.

Lived in India quite a few years, helped out at animal rescue, seemed it was rabies-a-go-go. Call went up when I went to local villages "whiteys here" to pick 'em up ,do not know if was the dogs name or me. One dog always remember got it by scruff of neck ,when pole otc,now that dog could twist its neck through 360 degrees ,caught me on the arm well and truly, partner doing the necessary at pts fainted all blood loss

Yes I certainly overdosed on rabies vacs, not as bad as you

  10. Glad I looked up on this post, could see you looked up India as alternative, not everyone wants to travel, but sure is cheap. Just got back after arranging surgery at £300 for prostate, cancelled for alternative ,not for cheaper ,but diff, now £190 for the op.

BUPA UK are shipping patients out to India for knee/hip ops too, cheapest knee op Ive seen at one of the higher up hospitals there at under $700,top end (guess ceramic) $1400

Makes me sick to see the pricing here 450.000 baht for operation, that there is less than 10,000 baht, might pay extra for hooker to travel with me though

  11. More than happy to discuss, but bang for the buck I believe is good at your hospital. Was about to go under the knife or laser elsewhere couple of weeks ago for prostate (15k baht) ,its as big as Texas 124 gms,but hearing of new procedure elsewhere pulled out, awaiting more information

PS A hooker will do as a caregiver, may wake up a bit quicker

  12. Visited Dr Anna this week.

1500 baht for a 10 minute visual assessment of my skin blemishes.

190 baht for hospital services ( I never solicited... nor got any service).

Glad to get out of there with my wallet intactsmile.png

    Amen to this Bro

Not this one,but close by ,but then all the same-same Encouraged to have skin check -up. Yes the same price of check-up doubled while there,up to 1800 baht, quick exam 10 secs or so,eureka, blemish found back of ear,4000 baht please. Now I instantly smelt a rat,not only that, but was looking at one too, wearing a white coat.

Informed him I did not believe him and escorted from hospital after paying the 1800 baht..

Shortly after visited another dermatologist, same area nothing, but 23 other areas found, now covered in purple pox marks where liquid nitrogen or whatever it is was applied...200 baht

For a farang now will be in for a right royal hosing, not enough showing up through experience, pity the hapless soul that makes his way there

  13. Type in google "shoulder decompression surgery Calcutta"

Dozens of surgeons there, nearest point two hours away from BKK stay away from Apollo chain, more expensive than most but far less so than here in Thailand, typically one tenth to one twentieth the cost of Thailand medical care and far better medical experience. Y'all feel right at home, more yanks floating around there than southern CA

Just picked one of many,no need for this one..try Desun hospital Calcutta too,may give published quote

Even if I had overly expensive medical insurance I would not choose Thailand for anything surgical with the evidence abounding, just get that 'plane to back 'ome or India,or anywhere for that matter

  14. Probably 18% over 3 years, ie. 3% every 6 months. 108% refund would be odd.

I'm no expert, but the build quality on that place looks horrible.

Watched the building being built, two empty columns ,serving as lift shafts keep that place together, a pack of cards, one wall blown out by gas explosion will bring the lot down,. Now the swimming pool is under construction on top no wonder the Thais living close by held a protest at ts construction

  15. Who the heck thought up the name Pattaya Posh. I'll bet my shirt it was a Thai. They don't have a clue and I doubt they would have done some market research. Pattaya Pride or Pattaya Perfect maybe but Posh. Why not Pattaya Naff. Kowgai Mai ??

The giant advertising board,on the Suk,just around the corner from this ...erm, go see "18% every six month rebate" yes 18% for 3 years

...bit of a rush today, should be "18% rebate,or cash back, every 6 months for 3 years" That for Pattaya Posh is some giveaway, but the way its progressing is dire

  16. This would be good for all you rabid inoculation folk, but you should take note of the batch used,a lot is duff stuff,The Medal of Honor (civilian grade) awaits at Walmart

For utter piece of mind The Thespian society of the great state of North Dakota holds seminars on this very subject

  17. "I bet to differ."

"The standard practice where I live is for rabies injections to start or boosters administered as soon as the bitten person reports to the hospital. (I had my jabs a few months ago)"

That may well be where you live, but it is not something that is normally done, or necessary in the US, where I have first hand knowledge of this.

Since Rabies is a serious disease, I guess it makes some patients feel better, even though they most often don't need it if they can watch the dog for the ten day quarantine.

The practice of giving the injections and the need for them don't match in most cases.

    Terry

This is Thailand not the US!
Waiting the 10 day observation period does not apply in Thailand where canine rabies is endemic!
The WHO recommendation for South East Asia......
"Simply observing the biting dog for 10 days without starting treatment is not justified."
"In countries where rabies is prevalent in a large population of dogs, it is compulsory to start treatment and keep the biting dog under 10 days of observation."
"If the animal remains healthy during the observation period then post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) can be converted into pre-exposure regimen, i.e. the vaccine taken will be to prevent rabies if bitten in the future."

Does anyone know if the rabies outbreak in Korat is still a dangerous situation, or is it gradually getting under control? I ask because I plan to visit Korat in May and would like to know if perhaps I should change my travel plans. TIA for any updates

    Nothing heard not endemic
