Lets nuke Thailand and see if that affects tourism, well of course it won't, silly me.

It was reported here that it was not against the law to go to sea that day, If the harbour master does not have the legal power to prevent boats from leaving in poor weather, why should any one be held responsible when it seems to be a free for all.

In my country as in many western countries, after a thorough and lengthy investigation of disasters of this type the Coroner hands down the findings.
These include highly detailed examinations of the facts in how systems failed or criminal negligence was involved.
The reports can then used by Emergency services, Police, Medical organisations and Government to implement changes, or to pursue criminal charges.
The system is is good but not perfect as the findings contain only recommendations for change and unless acted upon by government legislation change is not guaranteed, however findings of criminal negligence will be investigated.
In developing nations, I think the system is blame someone else then forget about it,

We post all the answers and all the suggestions on how to improve, we can see through the crooks and the incompetents.
We can do this through our education, we had to apply our education and experience to live and work, we are not just connected and entitled.
Until Thais at all levels of society have decent education not much will change.

Road carnage is what it is and of course needs to be addressed.
Also I don't see any improvement for tourist safety on the horizon just the usual talk and opportunistic seizing of assets.
As for cave safety, for goodness sake do not turn them into tourist attractions.

Musk has always struck me as kind of OK as far as billionaire entrepreneurs go, but in the end so many successful people are just a holes.
Very poor form to call someone a Pedo in a public slanging match.

That's the one where a General gets elected, yeah?

I think the Thai people understand the plan. We get rich, you get some scraps if you're lucky.

He's referring to his cronies, if they haven't upgraded their Mercedes to the current model, assistance will be provided.
What? is there another form of poverty??

I would suggest the good Lieutenant knows how to get things done unlike his superiors who are lazy, incompetent money grubbing fat cats.

The standard size brown envelope.
OK enough with the brown envelope comments, we know how the country works.

On the other hand the Chinese are also not stupid....if those groups see everything for sale on the streets for a much lower price than the shops they are told to go they will stand up as well i assume.
When i took a citytour in Hongkong they also dumped us in a goldshop without chairs where we had to stay for 2 hours.....it's just how it works there, it's all corruption but as long as the tourists don't stand up it will go on.
"but as long as the tourists don't stand up it will go on."
Well in your example Thian, apparently the tourists did stand up, for 2 hours.?

Disappointing posts missing the point, this is about safety for all tourists, not about your dislike of the Chinese.
The Chinese are not to blame, the so called zero baht tours are a Thai scam. where a few make a lot at the expense of the Thai tourism industry as a whole.

Not fake news in the real sense, more to do with how is it even news?
Man employed to stack shelves caught actually stacking shelves!
Bus driver actually driving bus!
College lecturer actually lectures students!
Doing your job, the major cases are always of public interest but the notoriety given to this guy and the way he is perceived to be a one man crime stopper is ridiculous. Like others say, if all the RTP did what they were employed to do it would not even be newsworthy to this level.....
It really should be more embarrasing than noteworthy....

One of my first posts on "Big Joke" was exactly that, a cop doing his job is so startling that it is newsworthy,
The stories have descended into pantomime with him running through the streets of the Philippines and other staged for the camera busts.
Why a Tourist Cop?
Why always in the spotlight with pictures?

But they said it wouldn't hamper tourism!
Time for some falang to the rescue again I think.

Try tailoring the package tour to the seasons, does anyone really want to go snorkeling and boating in such poor conditions, plenty of other things to do.

Can you please provide the link, or the information, that present the fact of fake news.
Nah, I guess that was just your super ego tripping a little bit to unsafe ground where you no longer can live on your fluffy clouds with all the fabulous amount of non grounded and fabricated beliefs.I trust my instincts and based on the track record of the RTP when it comes to honesty Il stick with my comments.
-
I expect this to be as effective as controlling the apparently still uncontrolled fishing industry.

Wow, what a fantastic comment. I must commend you on that one.
You never ever been thinking about that most of all the news was filled of thoose two things because they were so massive and big that it consumed all the readers?
Of course other things come back again. That has nothing to do with him or the RTP. It´s has to do with the value of the news at the time beeing. That´s how the news network has worked forever.I understand how the news works, it was a scathing comment on the ludicrous ego tripping super hero nonsense of this guy and the fact that real and serious news events relegated him off the news feed where he and his fake news belongs.

Lot of statements being made here that are quite correct but unfortunately wishful thinking.
I hope for the best, but the Thailand I know and you know demands a different course of action.
Parents, siblings or other relatives will be desperate to make a killing off this with no regard to the welfare of the children, I hope I'm wrong.
