Extension of stay Non O (marriage) Roi Et
Liquorice replied to RC8's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For extension based on Thai spouse, I've never known them request proof the 400K funds be foreign sourced, but better if you can, just in case. A home visit only for the very first application. Again explain your shift patterns and tell them it must be by appointment. It's usually within 3 days of you submitting the application. Sent a PM. -
Extension of stay Non O (marriage) Roi Et
Liquorice replied to RC8's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
@RC8 On entry with a Non Imm O visa, you will be granted permission of stay for 90 days. That visa is 'used' on entry, what now matters is the period of permission of stay granted, which depends on the date you will enter Thailand. You can apply for the 1 year extension based on Thai spouse up to 45 days before your permission of stay expires. Re-entry permit required to keep your permission of stay active. Example: Enter 1st August, granted permission of stay for 90 days until 29th October. Depart 18th August, return 3rd Sept (using re-entry permit). Depart 21st Sept, return 6th Oct (using re-entry permit). On each re-entry, you will be stamped in again until 29th October. Anytime after your second re-entry, you can apply for the 1-year extension application (10 Oct?) You will be given an under consideration stamp until 28th November. At this point you should speak with Immigration explaining your shift rota patterns and the next available date you will present again. You will require a further re-entry permit to cover the under consideration period. Extensions based on Thai spouse have to be approved at regional level. On application for the 1 year extension you will be given a 30 day 'under consideration' stamp. Roi Et date that 30 day from the date of your current permission of stay expiring to 30 days beyond. I just recently applied for another 1 year extension at Roi Et (Thai spouse). My extension renewal date was 10th July. I applied 18th June and was given an under consideration stamp until 9th August (30 days from 10th July). The office called me on Thu 4th July to inform my extension had been approved. I went for the extension stamp, Tue 9th July. They are flexible for the return date to collect the stamp. -
Tod, I never stated that it would be issued across all Immigration offices, I stated, according to Roi Et Immigration, it was being rolled out across all Immigration offices. There is a difference! Now, it could well be it's just a local form drummed up by the Inspector, but informed his staff it's nationwide. I posted it as a heads-up, be it issued by Roi Et, or any other IO's in the future. Bangkok IO is not be all and end all of what other IO's do. My visa was 'used' on entry in 2014. I have since been extending my permit of stay based on both retirement and Thai spouse. Extension renewal date 10th July. Under 30 day consideration stamp until 9th August. Was notified my extension was approved on Thursday 4th July, several days before my prior extension expired. Collected stamp 9th July.

Tut, tut, Tod. Extensions are permits, not visas. Read the STM2 form you posted, it makes it quite clear what you are applying for. Exactly which order states "Or as deemed appropriate by the issuing officer"? That is an attempt to ligitimise an extension issued by an unauthorised officer. The order 327/5227 states to the contrar,y where an extension application does not meet the full requirements; 4. In case where an applying alien does not meet the full qualification stipulated by the criteria herein, the alien must be notified of the non-permission order and must depart from the Kingdom within seven days from the date on which the permitted period has lapsed. 5. In the case where an alien applicant does not meet the full qualifications stipulated by the criteria herein or in other cases not specified in this Order but a competent officer equivalent to or higher than inspector is of the opinion that the alien has legitimate reason for staying in the Kingdom of Thailand, the application shall be forwarded to the Commander of the Royal Thai Police or an authorized competent officer for further consideration of the alien's application. This Order is effective as of 29 August 2014. Given on 30 June 2014, Pol.Col. (signature) (Watcharaphon Prasarnrajakit) Deputy Commissioner Acting Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police Now don't tell me that all Immigration officers are considered competant enough to make considerations and decisions on behalf of the Commander of the Royal Thai Police

I considered that as a reason for this form. Same bank account number, two different named applicants. Another reason I considered is when using a Fixed term account for the funds, to provide an alternative account. When I submitted my second extension application based of 800K funds in a Fixed term account, the IO questioned how I managed to support myself financially in Thailand as the funds were fixed throughout the year, and raising the suspicion I was working illegally. Since then, I've always requested the bank to detail both my fixed term deposit and Savings accounts on the standard letter. What concerns me in particular, and a point missed, is that the 'Statement' form previously used for extensions based on Thai spouse has now changed to an 'Affidavit' format. Now the introduction of an 'Affidavit' for extensions based on retirement. In the event of any shenanigans and investigations into extensions being issued via corrupt means, previously one could point the finger at each other, IO at agent, agent at applicant, applicant at agent, or any other third party involvement. An affidavit is a sworn statement put in writing. When you use an affidavit, you’re claiming that the information within the document is true and correct to the best of your knowledge. Regardless of who did what, the affidavit squarely points the finger at the applicant. Any involvement by third parties get off Scott free.

Nice try, but no cigar this time. Just completed my 11th extension application, 3 x retirement, 8 x Thai spouse. I have all the documents you listed in hard form, jpeg and pdf formats 😜 By the way, the 'Statement' form, which the wife has been required to sign for the previous 4 years, has this year been replaced by a pre completed and printed 'affidavit' form. Once your documentation has been approved, the back office now have a template on their PC and insert your personal details, then print. All you have to do is sign.

Looking at the form, which sections are numbered, I'd say if you were using the income method, complete 2 and 3.1 If using the funds in the bank method, complete 3.2 If using the combo method, complete 2, 3.1 and 3.2 That's just a guess. Well, if it's a wind up, the whole office must be in on it then.

It's not about taxes, I asked, and they had no idea what I was talking about. According to the IO's, this is the applicant confirming all monies come from pensions, and the financial evidence they are submitting is true. One IO gave a reason for the new form before another IO intervened, became cranky, evasive, and started questioning why I wanted to know.

Not sure if anyone has yet come across or been asked to complete this 'affidavit' when applying for a 1-year extension based on retirement. As Roi Et is my Immigration office, I was alerted to it by a friend who saw a YouTube clip where it was mentioned by Integrity Legal. Going to collect my own 1-year extension stamp today (based on Thai spouse), I asked about the document. According to RE Imm, this is being rolled out across all Immigration offices for completion by those applying for extensions based on retirement only. This is basically an affidavit which you are required to complete and sign. The English spelling and grammar, as usual, leaves a lot to the imagination.

There was a chap on the forum a couple of months ago asking a related question. UK citizen, temporarily working in the US for a few weeks. He applied via the London Embassy, but flight details from the UK. The Embassy requested flight details from the UK. He was advised he should have applied through a US Consulate, stating his US address, but also advised to contact the London Embassy explaining his position and reason for uploading flights from the US. E-visa approved. Make of that what you will.

Wise don't define 'bigger' transfers. I transferred £20,000 at the beginning of this year, and £10, 000 last week, with no additional questions being requested. I wonder if the issue is how much and to which Thai bank @TroubleandGrumpy is transferring to. Only Bangkok Bank, SCB and Kasikorn can accept automatic transfers of more than 50K THB (up to 3m THB) without additional information.

No, The Embassy will be fully aware you can, and will have to extend your period of stay to complete the 1-year course. You stated you uploaded the necessary documents informing the dates of the course. That should suffice, don't worry. It's more an 'intended' date of return, rather than an 'actual' date of return.

That's correct. You cannot extend a visa. You extend the period of stay from the 90 days granted on entry with the ED visa. 7. Please note that the period of visa validity is different from the period of stay. Visa validity is the period during which a visa can be used to enter Thailand. In general, the validity of a visa is 3 months, but in some cases, visas may be issued to be valid for 6 months, 1 year or 3 years. The validity of a visa is granted with discretion by the Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate-General and is displayed on the visa sticker. 8. On the other hand, the period of stay is granted by an immigration officer upon arrival at the port of entry and in accordance with the type of visa. For example, the period of stay for a transit visa is not exceeding 30 days, for a tourist visa is not exceeding 60 days and for a non-immigrant visa is not exceeding 90 days from the arrival date. The period of stay granted by the immigration officer is displayed on the arrival stamp. Travellers who wish to stay longer than such period may apply for extension of stay at offices of the Immigration Bureau https://www.mfa.go.th/en/page/general-information?menu=5e1ff6d057b01e00a6391dc5
