  1. The Fixed term gives better interest rates, and you can also add your wife's name to that type of account using the bank's power of attorney.
  2. For the Savings account, but for a Fixed term account, there is no card.
  3. Probably longer in more populated areas, such as CM and Bangkok.
  4. Bangkok Bank 14-month Fixed Term deposit account 1.65% After the term ends, the interest reverts to that of a Savings account, unless you roll it over into another 14-month term. I leave the interest and allow it to compound, which adds up after a few years. https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Save-And-Invest/Save/Deposit-Campaign 15% tax will automatically be deducted from any interest paid. This can be reclaimed Jan–April each tax year.
  5. You can have your wife added as a signature to the account via the bank's own power of attorney form. Her name does not show on the passbook, statements or letters produced by the bank. Where the account is in the sole name of the account holder, then the wife requires a court order. She will require a solicitor to request a court hearing. Under Thai law, she is the statutory heir by right. Depending on how busy the courts are, a hearing could take 2–3 weeks. The court approves the order and sends it to the solicitor for collection by the spouse, which usually takes no longer than 3–5 days. On production of the court order, death certificate and marriage certificate, the bank will release funds to the spouse. Solicitors fee 3,000 BHT. Been through this process 3 times.
  6. No, it's a simple process. Assisted 4 Thai spouses, who's foreign husbands passed away, been there, done it, got the t-shirt.
  7. Very simple process if you're legally married to a Thai, with or without a Will. 'Long term partner' Jack, suggest a Will.
  8. Much easier for a spouse to access funds in a Thai bank in the event of one's demise.
  9. What is your nationality, that may provide an alternative option.
  10. For the 1-year extension of stay, it has to be a minimum of 40K THB per month transferred from overseas. That posses a problem when you haven't lived in Thailand for at least a year. There are those that have used an agent for the very first extension, whilst they transfer income from overseas during that year, then applied the following year themselves (1,900 BHT) now having the required evidence.
  11. In defence of Jack. Having been on the Admin and moderator side of forums, it is a thankless job. Every day you have to deal with those who may intend well, but simply confuse the issue at hand. There are those a dime short of a dollar and will never grasp what you say, regardless of how you present it. Those that seek an answer, but don't like the answer because it doesn't fit their circumstances. Those that criticise information, yet offer no alternative information themselves. The trolls. Those to whom everything is a 'visa' yet for years UJ (RIP) would continually state it's a permit. Those that read but don't understand. Then there is the personal abuse. So, if a mod is a little narky at times, give him a break, he has a lot to contend with.
  12. You should be interested in hospital runners. I could reply and give examples I've personally witnessed and one guy I actually knew, but we're going way off-topic. All illegitimate extensions, 3 IO's sacked and the foreigners extensions revoked and deported.
  13. His age, nationality and monthly income could help.
  14. I should add, provided you are 50 or above years of age.
  15. Because they haven't been in trouble and investigated by police. Because everyone has to make a BHT in Thailand and agents provide gratuities for Immigration officials. It's a case of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. That's fine until a foreigner gets in trouble for breaches of the law. Last month our local hospital had its third unpaid hospital bill runner of the month, only they've got this one. The proverbial <deleted>e is flying now!
  16. There you go! So how do you think these investigations into corrupt IO's came about? Because a client upset the cart by an illegal act, and upon investigation they found he didn't have funds for the extension he held. You won't know what happened to the foreigner in these situations either unless you personally know someone, or you fall on it. This side of the story is never published for some reason. Embarrassment, loss of face?
  17. @Nayet Let me attempt to conclude your position in a nutshell. The Thai consulate no longer issue the Non Imm O ME based on Thai spouse with proof of 400K THB in a Thai bank account for 2 months. They do however still issue the single enter Non Imm O based on Thai spouse without financial proof (that could change). The SE Non Imm O will grant you a stay of 90 days on entry, which you can extend for a further 60 days at Immigration = 150 days. I seriously doubt the Thai consulate will issue multiple Non Imm O visa. The way forward for you to remain in Thailand with your Thai wife legitimately is to apply for a 1-year extension of stay from the 90 days received on entry. However, the financial requirements for the 1-year extension based on Thai spouse are either 400K deposited in a Thai bank account for 2 months, or 12 x 40K THB monthly overseas transfers from overseas. As you have expressed that you cannot meet either of these requirements, then your only option is to employ an agent who can facilitate a 1-year extension of stay based on retirement, without any proof of financial funds. Fees may vary dependent on the agent, but be clear the fee you pay is to obtain an extension under immoral circumstances.
  18. You have, you just have selective reading! You've never read of Immigration officials being removed from their positions due to issuing illegitimate extensions. How do you think that came about.
  19. Perhaps you know more about the OP than the rest of us, then! In order to help, the OP has to be willing to diverse certain information. So sorry, I missed his monthly income, nationality, source of income, but I'm sure you can enlighten us.
  20. And you've been asked what your monthly income was, without reply.
  21. That's fine until the <deleted> hits the fan, then it's a big problem.
  22. For agents and corrupt officials, yes. It could and does often lead to further problems down the line.
  23. Agreed, but @DrJack54 gave advice and the options including the use of an agent. However, sometimes when one receive the answer they don't want to hear, it reverts to criticism.
  24. When was this. There were no financial requirements until recently for the Non Imm O ME visa at Savannahket.
