That kind of leads onto employees being paid for time off work whilst in home quarantine and the huge staff shortages and supply chain chaos.

Because of the climate "catastrophe"  the next big thing  they want to impose restrictions upon is food, "real" food will become very expensive  so the peasants ( that's us) will have to consume engineered substitutes, maybe lab grown meat and insects provided by the omnipotent mega corporation

the "dumb" ones are often only a few hundred baht cheaper anyway.

You can use a "Smart Tv"  like a "dumb" one  just add an Adroid box,Firestick,AppleTv etc etc  to one of the HDMI in ports.

That will depend on your DVD player, I found that most of the cheapo Thai and Chinese ones played most anything...the Brand name players where often region locked or could be changed a couple of times before locking to a region some could not easily be changed.

if you have a PC with a DVD drive you can "rip" them and save/play them much more conviently to a large external Hard drive

with a software called Mkvmerge.

Yes I think there where/are some copy protection  on certain discs  that can be defeated by making an ISO   or Linux DD ( data destroyer) copy.
