  1. Has been for years.
Yes for Pattaya/Chonburi you need a residence certificate to sell as well as buy...in some other provinces its said to not be required....easy to get from Jomtien immigration 300 baht and 20 minutes waiting...but check they get your details correct before leaving the office.

That's not the link I posted.

That's the page I get when opening the link you gave above...I'm saying it still has a key..

But maybe you could leave the key mechanism out and just use the  fob and keypad ..just don't let the batteries run out !

    not copyable keys?

Errm  I think you'll find most any key can be copied...the ones that are very hard to copy cost a lot.

  4. Rain fade also effects the uplink as well as downlink....the only thing a customer can do is install a bigger dish but even then the signal level during a heavy tropical rainstorm would drop very low....in the analogue days you would get "sparklies" that got worse and worse until there was no picture left just "sparklies" or noise....now its digital and there is a very narrow window between having a lovely picture, lots of blocking and freezing...then nothing.

I had lots of problems with spiders building a nest in the wave guide tube that leads to the LNB. If you have a C/Ku band dish you will have a similar tube....for the small KU band dishes maybe check that the plastic cover on the front of the LNB hasn't degraded due to sun UV it could be letting in water.

what are chances of police stopping the bus to check documents?

    I would think quite low.

I really don't like taking my passport

Best to take it if  going any distance/time away from home/base....as sometimes they wont let you go get it and "someone" will have to bring it to where ever they are holding you.

  6. Its not the first time  that tourists have been  thrown out on the street...I remember  from a few years ago the  "purple hotel that had too many floors"  refused to  remove the floors so a heavy handed mob went in and started smashing the place up with guests still in the rooms  and around the same time a  smaller hotel catering exclusively to Chinese forced to shut down guests evicted.

I always thought motor bikes with side cars are illegal? well they should be

"Sidecars" can be legal  but they must be registered with the bike at the DLT  from new... "Sidecars"   not to be confused with a mobile shop/kitchen  bolted on to a bike aftermarket and normally to bikes that are on their "last legs" anyway..those are not legal  but  most cops will turn a blind eye for a Thai person trying to eek out a living ( Yes some traders make very good money..most just eek)
