  1. It is not open for a crossing to get a new entry.

Ranong is the only crossing to Myanmar that allows a out/in crossing for a new visa exempt entry.

If you had a valid visa for re-entry you could use the crossing in Khanchantaburi.

    Thanks, Ubon.

My friend has a Tourist Visa and is going to visit Khanchantaburi and 3 Pagoda pass shortly before he is due to get his next 30 days.

He can do this while he is there? Does he need any documentation at all?

He can - alternatively - do it at Jomtien of course, but the chance of a short holiday with another friend is too good to pass on if he can get his extention while up at Khanchantaburi.

  2. So many complaints about driving, traffic etc.

But is that the real answer to the question?

Remove traffic related topics / items and then ask again if Thailand is becoming more dangerous. Personally, I think not.

In over 7 years, I have never been attacked, beaten, bullied or robbed here whilst out of my place of residence.

The only thefts I have suffered have been sneaky ones from my wallet by females while in a relationship, but that is not dangerous and easily resolved (by kicking them out).

In all the bars I have visited - and there have been a lot - the only problems I have encountered is with other foreigners getting drunk / being anti-social.

Many Thai people I have met have never become angry, agressive or obnoxious. Not once have I been threatened from Mae Sot to Cha-Am to Pattaya and places inbetween.

More dangerous? Not in the circles I have moved in up to date.

  3. Smokers pollute the air I breath in and should be taxed to the max. Raise it another 100 baht.

Even if they went up 500b I would still get great pleasure from blowing smoke into the face of the likes of you.

Typical arrogant reply from the likes of you.

You'll be happy to know Iam currently in process of swapping my Bt.1600 per week ciggie habit for an equally priced per week vaping (E-Cig) habit.

And I'll still blow it in your or anyone elses face that like to have a whinge.

But you'd not be blowing 2nd hand smoke as there is none to blow, even though it looks as f there is.

As I recall, no smoke from exhaled vaping.

  4. Smokers pollute the air I breath in and should be taxed to the max. Raise it another 100 baht.

    Ba-fricking-wa!

Your great grandfather grew up w/ either wood or coal or kerosene for heat. You breathe a bazillion car/truck/taxi/bus fumes every day, but you blame your air pollution on ciggies?

more pollution from diesel particulates than ever from cigs. Diesel a known problem for everyone walking the streets yet they do nothing about it. definitely more pollutuin from other forms too, but it is easier to lambast smokers.

  5. 30% + increase in beer price where i go to watch football with friends due soon. Up from 80 Baht a bottle to 110 Baht a bottle according to the staff when enquiring about a notice saying prices are due to rise.

Not a brilliant, vibrant place unless there is a big derby game on like Liverpool Everton or Man U Man City.

Usually two football matches shown on a weekend and often only the top teams shown.

We ( my friends and I have already decided to boycott the place from the date of the increase and find other bars where we can at least watch the teams we want to see, like Wetherspoons or similar. We'd rather pay a little more and see our teams play.

This bar is almost dead during the week. Now, I feel they have tolled the death bell for the bar, owned by ( I do believe) by a Thai who owns one of the biggest shopping malls in Pattaya.

So, far from encouraging people into the bar, the customers are more likely to be driven away. Yet more Thainess?

One local bar with a new sign outside offering large Leo for 80 Baht. Others nearby cheaper or about the same. Seems they are the ones with more business sense.

And some people in authority wonder why places are closing and tourists not coming back. But when a place increases prices by over 30% in one go, is it surprising?

  6. A small thing granted, but recently being charged an extra 30% by motocy taxi drivers has stopped me using them. Now I drive to my favourite watering hole and they drive me and my motor back !! Less profit for the local motocy drivers.

The g/f (non-Thai) was charged moren than double for a m/c taxi to the market. As she complained, he sped off. Next weekend the same m/c driver followed her as she went to a different m/c taxi group for a m/c taxi.

Small things, but they all add up when added to overpriced 'Farang' prices for so many items. This stops people using their services, shops and other things. I doubt they will ever change much or learn. Then complain when there are fewer and fewer customers. Well, tough.

  7. Find a girl your age and one that has an open mind and some appreciation for the fact that you come from a different culture and that there is such a term called "meeting in the middle". There seems to be this perception that all Thais are dead set in their ways but that's not necessarily true.

A woman my age is likely to be wrinkly with sagging breasts and maybe a few teeth missing. Why on earth would I want one of those? blink.png I might as well be back in my home country, or doing without.

A woman over 35 definitely - for me. Much better biggrin.png

And before you ask, No, I am not perfect, but I'm not considered too bad either laugh.png

  8. I read some of her comments in the Daily Express.

If what she has said is true - and I have no reason to doubt her - SHE is the one who has every reason to be upset.

Sister of murdered Briton claims cruel Thai police told parents to 'just make another one' HEARTLESS Thai officials allegedly told the parents of a murdered British backpacker to "go home and make another" child after their daughter was raped and killed on a tourist beach, it emerged today.

  9. So if the GPS issue seems to have been solved with the latest OS update based on various posts here, are there any other downsides/problems associated with this model now?

My only negative is the paucity of cases and screen protectors for the iQ-II.

I'm happy with the silicone case that came in the box but, if you are a vapid youngster who likes to change cases every quarter, your options are relatively limited.

The leatherette case I got with mine is good.

The only complaint I have is that you cannot use the camera with the flap help back. There should have been a cut-out in the flap. But that is a minor issue.

A screen protector was put on the front of my phone when I bought it.

I too got the upgrade earlier this week and everything seems to be working fine.

  10. Contentment - that is my way of thinking. And I am content with the way my life is.

I do not need squillions of Baht, all I need is enough to be content.

When I am here in Thailand - and that has been 70% of the last 8 years or so - I have had my ups and downs like many people, yet I am content.

I am also content when I am in my home in the U.K.

For each of us there is a different level of contentment in life, all you have to do is find your level and when you have, you will be - well, content, of course smile.png
