  1. Might be easier and cheaper to buy an extra battery for your laptop.

Thought about that. The only down side is switching batteries in and out of the laptop to charge them and also have to Hibernate the Laptop for a battery switch when on the go. I need a power bank to keep my phone going anyway so less kit to carry around if one bank serves two devices.

You do not have to hibernate to change battery on most computers but anyway I am also looking for a laptop powerbank, have you found one in Thailand ?

    Thanks.

  2. I was in the central mall yesterday looking for a phone for my daughter. We stopped in Banana IT across from Power Buy. They sell the Asus Fonepad, which is on her list (and mine) of good choices. I asked if they service the Asus Fonepad if we bought it from them, and they said "yes". So, they may be able to repair your Asus tablet or send it to their service shop in BKK to have them fix it, more likely the latter. Expect a minimum 3 weeks wait. Banana also has a shop in Tukcom.

I have Fonepad as spare tablet to keep in the car and it's really <deleted>.

  3. I have been at stopped twice in sukhumvit 22. 2 police officers on a bike every time. They just searched me but didn't get me to take the pee test. My friend however, was searched once and taken to have his pee at the asoke police booth. It's obvious what they were searching for and wanted. I don't look shady or anything. I was wearing a tie and coming back from work the first time, just passed the queens park hotel on soi 22. Second time I was walking to 7/11 at midnight on 22 near the parrot cafe.

If you have nothing on you or in your apartment, but u are still tested positive fot Marijuana. The fine is up to 20,000 and/or up to 1 year in jail.

Weed is a class V drug and the police mainly want their tea money. Don't listen to these idiots who say "10 years in the slammer if caught smoking a joint". If you are able to pay the fine and it is your first offense they will let you go. I am not suggesting to do it!!! But no one deserves to go jail for weed.

People go to court and get 2000 baht fine for weed, not even blacklister.

    Anything else is BS.

  4. Who's your lawyer Hermes..? smile.png

    Mr Praychaya

one of best in land, honest, kind, human-rights away, smart, hardworking

I never let thai cops touch me, search me, they get angry, tryto muscles me, but thats hard in public, so have no choice then take me to station where my lawyers tells them the correct way they should behave. He also got me of slapping one and forcing him to eat ( well, I just stuffed it into his mouth )his own mobile phone in front of whole crowrd( for which I often get called a liar.....no problem). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUBMIT TO THESE TESTS.

Act like a sheep and the wolf will eat you

    Totally agree !

  5. Reports from a friend (yes actually a friend I have never been to Patts or subjected to such testing), may not help or be relevant:

RTP in Pattaya were performing random roadside blood checks on f-rangs. They were looking for yabba usage which admittedly is a scourge (albeit allegedly rampant in Thai society). Positive tests for yabba resulted in 50,000 baht on-the-spot fine or arrest, positive tests for cannabis were let go. Most police in Thailand will not care about the latter if simple personal usage as there are bigger problems, but a place like Koh Tao which is known as a "hippy hangout" will probably attract police looking to make a buck. If you're dressed like a hippy or "rasta" as your name suggests I would take caution as it is likely you would be targeted by such police, it is illegal to have any scheduled compounds inside your system inside of Thailand and as noted fully legal to test urine or blood for this without probable cause.

Thank you, but there is no test at Pattaya outside bars and disco.

chonburi province has launched a massive house to house program, visiting all homes and rooms and interviewing resdients, anyone they consider may have possible used yabba is tested on the spot. program already started and Pong municiplaity was first on the list ( near maprachan lake). they have already tested hundreds just in our area and the used test kits were dumped in garbage bins for all to see. if your home passes the test.. you get a sticker to say your home is clean of drugs. this is/will happen in pattaya to as of next week

What do you mean test people at home ? No, it can only be in the street ?

And knowing how thoroughly they do their job I guess it's not difficult to go through...

  7. So the outdoor buffet is closed ?

From what I could see earlier today it has vanished completely. Shame. At 120B incl. water I would have gone at least once every week for a nice curry hit.

Today the one near Tony was closed also, maybe closed on Sunday ?

I drove past there today and I have the strangest impression that they have moved to another shop in the same row about 20 yards from where they used to be. The place I think they used to be in is completely empty, and the new place seems to have the same furniture and decorations as in the old place.

Or maybe I'm just going senile.

No ! You are right !

    They moved !

It seems that they did it overnight ? haha so weird...
