  1. I opened a TD Ameritrade (part of Schwab) account as an expat. They only require 500USD deposit, but you need 25kUSD to get access to certain trades like unlimited options day trading. There is no ATM card, but I don't use it as a bank but a trading account.
  2. There must surely still be benefits to checking in online? There are for other airports, you can pick and change your seat allocation for one and all your details are logged so the process at counter is minimally faster.
  3. So there goes what credibility any of your points held. Once Pootin has evaporated, there is an entire country to rid of its hideous doctrine. You think one cancer ridden old codger snuffing it will solve that? Thailand can hang its TAT head in shame at the current tourists welcome. Brings to mind the acceptance of the Japanese during the early stages of WW2. Thailand was known as the Italy of the Orient back then, or as they called themselves 'neutral'.
  4. If you are applying for the extension based on marriage then obviously the rules related to applying for the extension based on marriage is what you need to follow. Your current retirement extension is already approved and has nothing to do with the next one.
  5. I have a TD Ameritrade (owned by Schwab) for trading US stocks with a Thai address and I am not a US citizen. From 1-Jan-23 there are some changes though, when trading PTP (public traded partnerships) for which the list is long and changeable but seems to be mostly commodity and energy ETF's. If trading these from 1-Jan-23 the broker will withhold 10% tax on the proceeds (not just the profits) of the sale. This seems like taking the proverbial so I won't be buying any of these ETF's from now on.
  6. Never used PE before, but used Shipito several times to buy laptops off of Amazon to a duty free address in the US then pay Shipito Fedex fees inc import to Thailand. Cheaper than using Amazon direct to Thailand. Arrived in about 4-5 days.
  7. Face ID seems rather optimistic with the web cam button closed?
  8. I am getting mine from https://pcscenter.sbpolice.go.th/en as an expat applying for police clearance for a visa for a third country.
  9. I got my UK degree cert notarized by a private legal office in Thailand a few months ago. Plenty to choose from in Bangkok, I just Googled mine, cost me about 3000THB and done in 10 minutes.
  10. Even the old girl in the background has a look of skepticism on her face.
  11. A look at Blue Haven bay in the dark, there's a new concept. 5 minutes of my life I won't get back watching Danaboutthailand lol!
  12. Once I turn off Fast Reboot in Control Panel then there are no more problems with laptop starting AND I can access the BIOS again.
  13. Why does Windows even have fast startup enabled as recommended in control panel? If you power off then try to power on the PC will never start with fast startup enabled on my laptop, cannot even access BIOS. Only after hours of trying I got the PC to start again, and disabling fast startup and its been fine since. Seriously Microsoft, what the heck is this feature?
  14. I thought it was the oldest profession.
  15. Wifey always gets this for our coffees..
  16. What about the restore from back up trick?
  17. This is the Cummunity Pub forum of Aseannow and even this is overly moderated. Hence Thaivisa.com had more users I think.
  18. I think the frost two lines didn't need question marks to be grammatically correct.
  19. Yes. Different rates depending on land lines or mobile phones, check rates on their site. Cheaper than phone to phone usually.
  20. Yes it's easy once you've done it and there is no need to pay the annual ATM card fee as there is no need for a card. You do need internet access on your phone during visit to ATM tho.
  21. I changed wifi hotspot and Google YouTube went thro the two step verification, sent the 6 numbers to my SIM, then after I input that it wasn't enough, it asked 'to really check who I am' by sending a second code to a second SIM! This repeated every time I changed my wifi hotspot. So Google needed TWO sims because I had registered different SIM numbers on YouTube and Google. Fixed that annoyance by going to one SIM only on the profile of each account. but still cannot get around the verification each time I change wifi hotspot using same device.
  22. These external devices just plug into the input socket on the TV like an HDMI port?
  23. You probably cannot go wrong then as stocks always go higher in the long run. I would only invest in indexes or solid companies not loosing money in today's high interest rates. P/Es today are below the average so dollar cost averaging in a little each period usually works with a low risk to reward ratio. Staying in cash isn't wise as it looses value daily with inflation.
