I play the Guaranteed Rate wait game all the time. Have literally canceled dozens of paused transfers, with no money paid yet, and then proceeded with a new transfer at higher rate. Never had any issues or warnings. Have noticed the Guaranteed Rate time has gone WAY down. Used to get 48-72 hours and up to 84 hours over weekends. Now get 7-12 hours most times. Recently switched to MoneyGram. It's SLOW compared to Wise (TransferWise), but better overall rate after Wise fees and more baht for my buck.

No comparison. Infinitely better back in 1990s & 2000s. Been on a serious downhill slide the past decade or so.

I do it cuz it's the rule and everyone else here does. No big deal and sets a good, clean example. However I'm probably not engaging a total stranger and telling them what to do.

My condo pool in Jomtien has been unnecessarily closed twice and reopened twice this year. Reopened last on 1 September and remains open. Hopefully won't ever happen again.

Refused Entry Into Thailand With COE Question
Skeptic7 replied to Banana7's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I came back end of February. Never loaded it on my phone and was never asked anything about it. Of course, could well be different now. Highly doubtful anyone has been or ever will be refused for such invasive nonsense, which like everything else here prob doesn't work a lick. If asked, just play ignorant and they can try to install it for you if they think it's so important. -

Thailand's 'draconian' alcohol laws in the spotlight

This segment could have revealed SOOOO much more on this topic and the ridiculous laws and stupidity that permeates this silly place. ???????? -
Hasn't operated since May. Still CLOSED...unless something has changed in past few days. Will pass by sometime soon and have a look-see. Took it in March to Swampy and only 5 onboard...including the driver! Took again in April with only 3 including driver. No passengers even back then, so most likely still shut down. Would not be at all surprised if it never ever operated again.

To my knowledge, Swampy to Jomtien bus is not yet operating. Ekamai to Pattaya is operating. Unsure about airport to Pattaya bus.

A ridiculous rule, closing swimming pools. Of course it's fitting for such a ridiculous place. Glad to hear you're now at least able to book pool time. When I was in BKK for a week a couple months back...everyone, without limit on the number, could go to the pool area but actually swimming was prohibited! ????

It's true...most people are in denial about this fact of life/death. Most act and think like they are immortal. I had a great job which took me all over the world and afforded lots of free time and off-time. Living here month-on/month-off for 25 years and comfortably retired last year at 59 and here full time. Lots more fun and travel to come if fragile nanny world ever learns to accept and live with Stupid-19. If not, still plenty of sun and fun here! Gotta live life...not let life live you. ????
