Oh for heaven's sake, here we go again! From the original article and for the umpteenth time: 'The program will begin January 1, 2024 and apply only to tax residents in Thailand meaning tourists and short term workers will be exempt. Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand'. What could be clearer than that? Thai government to tax all income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Thai Enquirer Main News

90 Day Count Verification
Moonlover replied to AAArdvark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The only one to whom it would make a difference would be the one who waited until the very last day to make their report and that would be a pretty dumb thing to do. What does the proposed tax amendment have to do with this? (which won't apply to us anyway) The best comment regarding this whole thread actually came from @Mutt Daeng Here here to that. -

Does one day REALLY matter in one's life? What a sad conversation this is. -
Best tires for Scooter. Michelin, Pirelli, IRC?
Moonlover replied to Airwolf's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
I've been riding my Aerox on the original IRC stock tyres for over 3 years now and I can't think of any good reason why I would explore another make when comes time to replace them. The bike handles just fine both in town and on the country lanes that surround my village dwelling which is where I do most of my riding. I've never had a disturbing moment regarding tyre performance. -

There was one occasion when I didn't receive a timely email reminder that my report was due. But it was no drama because I always put my own reminders on my Hotmail diary and my phone, just in case. Other than that, the new system has been flawless. -
Yes, you're right, this is not a litigious society and you really do have to watch out for yourself. They would probably argue that it was 'your own lack of awareness that caused you to fall. You should have noticed that the steps might be slippery'. As I said earlier, I'm super cautious when I'm out and about now, just as I am when I'm out on my motorcycle.

Some 8 years ago I slipped and fell, breaking my leg my own front porch. My fault, I had bare foot and it had been raining. I am now super aware of the dangers of slippery floors and I have to say I have never encountered the issue that the O/P is talking about. but I never drop my guard. I haven't seen any savages around either @zzaa09.

And neither has anybody else AFAIK.

90 Day Count Verification
Moonlover replied to AAArdvark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As MJCM pointed out, Immigration have always called the reporting or entry day. 'day 1' And they will have been doing so long before they decided to come up with an on-line system. So when the criteria that they required was passed on to software geeks that was what they asked for. "Call the previous reporting day: day 1'' And that's exactly what they got. They complied with the customers requirements. You can't blame the programmers for that can you. -

The 90 day report on-line system works perfectly well for thousands of expats, so I think your criticism is completely unjustified. -
Ah ha, I think the 'pennies just dropped!'. When scrolling on an App, to scroll down, you move your finger up & vis versa. You're probably right, As I recall the "Funds for long term stay" option was a later addition to the list by Wise to appease those who needed an international coding on their statements, so it makes sense that it would be at the bottom. I still think we're on the right track though. It's simply a case of 'search and ye shall find'.

That's also happening with post to the UK now. We used to get a blow by blow account of its movements through the UK postal system right up to delivery, but now it's just final delivery only. Maybe it's a general trend worldwide.

Just take it on the chin and get on with life. It's only once a year and it's a lot cheaper than using an agent. (Thought I'd just get that one in before they chime in!) Oh and consider yourself lucky that you have the 400k in the bank thus avoiding the income method. That can add a considerable amount of paper to your 'doorstep' of docs. Enjoy your day. P. S. Where's S Caen?

Blockbuster movie scares Chinese tourists away from Thailand
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, why not? Why does @isaanistical think it's good news that hoteliers', restaurant owners. tour guides and the likes are unable to make a decent living because of a film?- 124 replies

Not so strange that it wasn't reported in the press. as I explained earlier. And far as your last sentence goes: 'Darnel Kimbia was reportedly found dead in a Bangkok car park on Sukhumvit Soi 50 on Thursday, September 7 with a suicide note lying by his side'. Folks who get pushed off high buildings don't usually get the chance to write a suicide note do they. A detail that seems to have been conveniently overlooked by many contributors to this thread. And there's one more fact that folks should consider. Suicide is often cited as the number one cause of death amongst young males between 18 and 24 years. Disturbing isn't it.
