I understood it perfectly. What's your problem? -
Victim Warns Public To Beware Of Power Bill Scammers
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I've been paying my PEA and True internet bills on line for years. I've never had a problem and with the mobile apps it's easy and very secure. Oh and very convenient too, given that we live 20kms out of town. What this tale indicates is not that there are any flaws in on line payment systems, is just confirms the well known adage that there's a mug borne every day. -
Why do people on here call Thailand the land of smiles?
Moonlover replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Thank you, a sensible answer at last. And a very informative article it is too. It's true what it says that: 'even a seasoned expat may misinterpret one'. (smile that is) -
Severe flooding in Nakhon Ratchasima sparks fears of 1980 disaster repeat
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I do know the difference between watermelon, sugarcane and rice! I walk out in the countryside every day. There are some retention ponds and irrigation channels that feed off them, but that only covers a small area. In that area they produce crops other than rice. The main rice growing area around the village does not benefit from any irrigation other than the river, so one crop a year it is. Next up is peanuts. lots and lots of them! -

That it, you've aced it. You should now receive an email acknowledging receipt of you application. Then a few days time, (hopefully) you'll received an 'approved' email which tell you your next reporting date. -
Severe flooding in Nakhon Ratchasima sparks fears of 1980 disaster repeat
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
You do not say where you live Mr. J, but up here in the north east there's no question that only one crop of rice a year is grown. And reason is quite obvious. As soon as the rain ceases, the river from which the irrigation water is drawn is reduced to a trickle and there is no other source. The farmers here don't need to be advised by the government to 'only grow one crop a year'. It's simply not possible to do anything other than that. My wife confirms this by the way. She owns land that she rents into the family consortium. (and collects the rent partly in rice of course) -
Severe flooding in Nakhon Ratchasima sparks fears of 1980 disaster repeat

For thousands of years farmers in Asia have grown rice during the wet season, which makes complete sense as rice is very water dependent. Growing rice in the dry season which follows it not a good idea at all is it uses scarce water resources to grow an extra crop that the country doesn't really need anyway, The government tell farmers not grow a second crop every year and makes absolute sense that they should do so. -

Thailand to launch its second Earth satellite next week
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you wish to respond to my posts, please quote the whole post, not just the bits that favour your argument. An argument that is, in fact wrong. Having their own satellite greatly enhances their ability to gather the information that they want, when they want and need it. Not just when some other countries satellite happens to be passing over. Information, by the way they would have to pay for. and might not actually meet their requirements. -

It obviously hasn't occurred to you @Sydebolle that the very people you are talking about could well benefit from the information that this project can provide such as: It is not just a 'rich man's toy'. -
Thank you for acknowledging that everything that we know was a result the 'big bang'. At least it's a step in the right direction from the 7 day creation nonsense that our RE teacher use to try and pump into us. (A topic which, not surprisingly I scored E minus in my school report) Believing someone because they are a scientist is naive? Personally I believe that accepting 'blind faith' is a lot more so. Bring on the proof I say.

On the other hand: 'Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand'. Your over thinking this pal. Just relax and see what transpires, if anything. https://www.thaienquirer.com/50744/thai-government-to-tax-all-income-from-abroad-for-tax-residents-starting-2024/

That's exactly what it's all about. Yet another opportunity for bored minds to have yet another 'bash' at the same old topic. We could also do without thinly disguised profanities' in the topic title. -
Computer glasses. Are they nonsense or do they work?

Yes, I get your point. We on this forum often get the terms confused don't we. However I raise the point because the author of the article in the Thai Enquirer chose to draw a distinction which I'm sure is causing confusion amongst some folks: 'Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand'. 'It is unclear at this point how this will apply to foreigners living in Thailand on a retirement visa'. There would seem to a contradiction there.

This is NOT the time or the place for this kind of sentiment! Go do your worrying elsewhere.

Sad to hear about the loss of a fellow biker. We had our tussles now and then over 'when is a motorcycle not a motorcycle' (referring to motor scooters of course) but I always enjoyed his contributions for all that. He 'shuffled off this mortal coil' doing what he loved. There are plenty of less desirable ways to go.
