How would you react if your meal was served this way ?
Moonlover replied to Social Media's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Eat it of course. I've been in many Indian Thali restaurants where the food is dished out onto a banana leaf along with a mound of rice.. As long as the table is clean, what's the problem? -
Thank you, it's nice to have someone around here who shows a bit of gratitude. I've been meaning to post again regarding my post above from yesterday.. I want to make it clear that I was pointing out a methodology. (Dependent's Visa) I was expressly not recommending the use of that agent (or any other). I was merely using their website as an information platform. Anyway, which ever route you end up taking I hope it's successful for you.

Let's hope that there is a civic minded person out there who knows of an Isuzu pick up that has incurred recent frontal damage and shops the owner to the police.

The presentation is, as I said on line. You view it on your own device in you own time in advance of attending the DLT on renewal date. If you get the answers right first time then you're good to go. If not you work through it again, paying a little more attention. I doubt if anyone has failed it.

You can apply for renewal up to 3 months prior to the expiration of your current one. There is now an on line presentation that you have to view and correctly answer the questions therein before you proceed through to the issuing process. They'll give you the details at your DLT office. Check in your local DLT office to see if they still have an appointment system. Some do, some don't.

F-16 Jet Fighters To Be Decommissioned In Next 5 Years: Air Force Chief
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The RTAF could do a lot worse than replacing them with the latest version of the F16. They are still in production in a much updated form and are likely to remain so for many years. As @ezzra says they are an excellent aircraft and it would make assimilation a much easier task. -
And even if you do stay for the whole year, (or for many years as is the case for many of us) the following will apply: The program will begin January 1, 2024 and apply only to tax residents in Thailand meaning tourists and short term workers will be exempt. Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand. Which applies to just about everyone of us. It's all a load of B/S. https://www.thaienquirer.com/50744/thai-government-to-tax-all-income-from-abroad-for-tax-residents-starting-2024/

There is a visa known as a 'Dependent's Visa' and as far as I can tell there's no financial requirements. That would make sense of course as the applicant is dependent on someone else. Parent on son in your case. have a look at this web site. https://magnacarta.co.th/home/thailand-corporate-business/visa-services/thailand-dependent-visa/

I certainly hope that the war in Ukraine will be well over by the time these aircraft become available. -
Thailand’s digital wallet project: Green light to make cash splash
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I've just found this on The Nation which address's your concerns about your old father-in-law. @KannikaP' wife is right BTW @edwinchester It's right here in the article. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/economy/40030624 -
Rubbish! Complete rubbish. Now off you pop to my 'ignore user' list.

The article did not refer to a 'professional army and neither did I. it referred to a 'professional soldier' which is perfectly feasible in a army which is a mix of full time and conscripts. In fact they couldn't have an army without professionals as its main constituents. And get this, last year over 25,000 young men volunteered to do national service. That's how keen they are to get on the 1st rung of the ladder toward becoming a professional soldier. Bold is mine for emphasis.

Thailand’s digital wallet project: Green light to make cash splash

The easy solution to that would be to issue them with limited use debit card. Such a scheme, the so called 'Welfare Card' is already in use. It won't answer all your concerns but will cover most problems. -
Go tell that to my wife's son who's been in the army for 9 years. In fact professional positions in the military are highly prized and an 'entry fee' is often required.

The answer to your question is obvious @dingdongrb and it's already been answered: 'The pensioner doesn't need to instigate further actions'. Whilst one is fit and healthy and has their smarts about them, transferring their own pensions from abroad is easy. I've been doing it myself for years. But I've always had this thought in the back of my mind. "What if something happens rendering me unable carry out those tasks. How does my wife get hold of the funds that we need to live on?'' And that is why I have now switched to direct payments into my Krungsri account. I'm 77 yrs now, still fit and healthy in body & mind, but one never knows what's lurking just around the corner. The modern buzz words would be 'future proofing' I guess.

Go on one of those meditation courses you were banging on about and you might just find out.

Victim Warns Public To Beware Of Power Bill Scammers
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Every time a transaction takes place on one of my 2 accounts here, I receive an SMS or an email letting me know that it has occurred. Moreover when I pay a bill on line I quickly receive acknowledgement from the payee that the funds have been received. Providing one remains vigilant and doesn't ignore these messages, an unauthorized payment should never go unnoticed. (and reported of course) It has already been demonstrated right here in Thailand that providing such payments are not the result the of account holders own foolish behaviour, (such as giving out PIN codes to complete strangers) banks will reimburse the account holder. (See this report in TBS World) So whilst I will acknowledge that there's a very remote possibility of an on line scam taking place, as long as it wasn't my own ineptitude that resulted in that loss, the bank will compensate me as were the cases that I cited above in TBS World.. I do not live in fear of losing my money to scammers.
