Five men aboard missing Titan sub dead after 'catastrophic implosion'
Stargeezr replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I am glad that I do not have shares in Ocean Gate company. This mini sub did not get certified and should not have been allowed to have any passengers. The carbon fiber main section would likely been a sticking point for certification. Most subs and mini subs are steel or titanium structures to keep intact. The CEO risked not only his life, but 4 other people made the fatal decision to pay a lot of money to get into this sub and go so far below the surface of the ocean. RIP to them all. -
Five men aboard missing Titan sub dead after 'catastrophic implosion'
Stargeezr replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It sounds like they died quickly. If they were very deep there will not be anything of them to recover. The end parts could be recovered, but for what purpose? Most of the certified mini subs were certified and people were not bolted in. With multiple dives it would seem that the pressure hull did not take the extreme pressure. My 2 cents worth. -
Well at least 4 of the 5 on board were very rich people. Either it got caught up on something, or had a pressure failure, it should have been able to re surface. The news I heard on TV said the ballast could be jettisoned to let the vehicle resurface. I guess we will know more in the next few days as the news media get more pictures of this submersible and how it operates. It does look like there would be a pilot on board to operate the vessel. The big worry is that it got snagged, or had a mechanical failure.

Phuket struggles to attract tourists in 2023 low season
Stargeezr replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Message for TAT It is low season, wake up, quit being greedy. Thailand always has low season this time of year. I just hope the air fares drop a bit for high season in October to April. Where I stay, the guest house rates are still pretty good. -
Thai cyanide serial killer: Big Joke hands over case reports

Just a theory, but when I see a person with dead eyes, I think that they have lost their soul. After all what is the soul, and can you see it? That is my thoughts. Killers have no soul. Harvey -
The future of masking -- will it ever end?
Stargeezr replied to ultramarine's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
BKK has bad enough pollutions some days that a mask is a good thing to wear. In parts of Canada and the USA there are forest fires which send lots of smoke and small particles all over, another good reason to wear a mask. However like most places in the world there are people who will not wear a mask, so be it. If you want to enjoy Thailand with its pollution just do it, your choice. -
Since I have been in my 70s I have slowed down my drinking. I do not drink hard liqeur except on a special occasion. I drink less beer, and hardly drink wine at all. I guess I am entering the Golden years, as other things seem to cost more of my gold. Thailand has a lot of tourists most times of the year and it has always affected their visits. Most travelers like to have a few drinks as the do not have to be sober the next day, due to their work. It would be good news to see a more liberal situation exist. Harvey

Tens of Thousands Join This Year’s Pride Month Parade in Bangkok
Stargeezr replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
There is one day for Mothers day, One day for Fathers day, one day for Veteran day, one day for Queen Victoria day. July 1st for Canada day, July 4th for America's day, one day for Christmas and one day for New Years day, so why does the Pride community get a whole month? Why not Pride day? Just asking. -
War with US would be "unbearable disaster", says China
Stargeezr replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yes ICBMs are a bit hard to hit, so a war would be a loss for everybody. I do hope that the world leaders remember this every day. -

Pattaya Transgender Person Pickpockets Russian Couple and Gets Arrested
Stargeezr replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Why do people still wear jewelry when travelling to Thailand? Thailand is a casual dress country, too hot to be strutting about like some peacock with all the jewelry. In My Opinion anyway. Harvey -
31% of Thais eye battery electric vehicles as next car choice
Stargeezr replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
If you are in a flood zone, do not own an EV. They are not very good on handling water on the battery and connections. Fires can be the result. When they catch fire, it is not very easy to put out as well. I will not be going electric until everything is in order. Charging stations all over, and the batteries have to be cheaper. Oh do you know that EVs are very heavy and the maintenance is high because of torque issues and worn out parts. Do not let teens drive these EVs for sure. Just my two cents worth of advice. -
Bangkok Pride parade aims to boost Thailand’s 2028 World Pride bid
Stargeezr replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I find it strange that a group of people need their own flag, colored crosswalks, (in Canada), a special time of year for Pride week, or Pride month etc. As a senior all I like is the Canada flag, and the provincial flag where I live. The LGBTQ Plus 2 spirits, and the rest are some what confusing. The trans group and the Binary group especially. IO guess I am just too old fashioned.
