  1. 54C in the sun, 38C in the deep shade, and 45C inside the house. That is a heat wave to me.
  2. I may not be correct, but I thought that an International airport requires two runways. It is a safety issue, incase there is an accident that closes one of the runways.
  3. USA land of NRA. This country has been dangerous for years, and it will not change in our life time. Maybe if they can get a president who is younger than 70 and does not have a lot of baggage like the current leader and the past leader have. Time will tell.
  4. Mother nature One, puny Human structures Zero. I believe that the earth is warming itself up again and us humans will not be able to stop that progress. Harvey
  5. Lately I have not bought a lot of things made in China. I even bought a frying pan made from Vietnam, even though it was a bit more pricey. Not a big fan of Chinese support of Russia, so am boycotting as much as possible.
  6. The USA is leaping back at least 50 years. I hope that all women and some men vote for the anti abortions laws to be banned. Just my opinion of course.
  7. My first thought was another smoker sets fire to the truck he is driving with his careless habit of tossing his butts out the window. I wonder what he told his boss?
  8. Rooster, I am glad you survived your water treatment at Songkran. I will never be in Thailand for Songkran again, as even years ago, I seen people with 2 inch fire hoses spraying water at people in Phuket, at an intersection in Karen Beach. A business man was knocked right off his bike, and all the drunks just laughed at him, and picked up his bike, and sent him on his way even though he was totally soaked and would have to go back to change his clothes. That was the last time I wanted to have anything to do with Songkran. Oh and Happy Thai New year, it seems.
  9. Jail time, deportation, and lifetime ban for these guys coming back to Thailand.
  10. Smart visitors pack a flash light if they are going out at night. I always have a good flash light when I go to Thailand. I have used it many times and have avoided holes in the sidewalks, slippery steps, and even a couple of snakes. Thailand is not the country to go if you are naive, it is quite dangerous. In my opinion anyway.
  11. On my first trip to Thailand, I traveled with a friend who had been there 5 times. He gave me the talk of never getting involved. In Phuket, I seen a drunk German tourist who threw Thai baht bills and coins on the ground, as a couple of girls had mad him mad and tried to sell him some chewing gum. A drunk Thai man grabbed a butcher knife from the bar and was going to stab the German, but the mama san yelled at him to give her the knife to cut pineapple. I followed the German and let him know what danger he was in, so he packed up and left Phuket that night to stay at the airport and leave on a morning flight. The drunk Thai man had left and came back about an hour later with 4 friends, looking for the German, the were all armed with knives and machetes. I stayed at the bar with the big Mama san for a while longer until the police arrived, and took the weapons from the drunks. Never get involved, it is not worth the danger.
  12. My solution is just do not go to Northern Thailand during the smoky season. Plenty of other times where the air is much better. I would stay in Hua Hin and enjoy the ocean air until the smoke has left the northern parts. Problem solved. Well at least for me.
  13. I guess not all space industries are complete successes. The cost of the virgin launches are a lot cheaper than the other type of launches, so I hope this gets a second chance with a new owner.
  14. Lesson, always wear your helmet, if you are not rich enough to stay in a hospital for a month, then fly yourself back to your home country. The parents of this guy had better hope that their go fund me is successful, or just wait to see their son heal in hospital and get a regular priced ticket to fly back to the UK. No Helmet, no insurance. Over the years I have seen many people Thais and foreign visitors who are too stupid to wear a helmet, because it is too hot or uncomfortable. Well too bad for them if they crash, no sympathy from me.
  15. This is an Asia problem, not just Thailand. It is one of the many reasons I do not want to go and live all year round in Thailand.
  16. I do enjoy the video form of Rooster, but I also miss the Weekly post, especially with the pictures. I am like you Rooster, with King Charles being newly crowned. However it show that life does indeed go on, and the world keeps turning. Harvey M
  17. Will he be another Teflon Don? Will the republic be able to continue without him? Will the United States of America still remain United? I can just imagine that the news stories will be interesting for the next few weeks. The late night shows from ABC, CBS, and NBC will be interesting as well.
  18. Oops, if the guy is from Holland, well I meant back to Holland before a month, or 30 days.
  19. I thought that if I had a valid Passport and was only going to Thailand for 30 days or less I would not need a visa. Am I wrong? Does this fellow have a valid passport and does he have an out bound ticket back to the UK in less than a month? Just wondering.
  20. This fellow must have been rich when he arrived in Thailand or how else did he stay in the country for so long. A follow up story may be quite interesting to read. 52 years old and able to not work but able to stay in a foreign country for 8 whole years. Interesting.
  21. Pom Loong tan, or I am lost, I have used in the past, and well as ngong. When I seen a staggering drunk European tourist one time I said farang ngoo, or stupid farang. Anyway I quit learning Thai when my Thai wife kept correcting me all the time when I tried to speak Thai language. I am so thankful that so many of my Thai relatives and friends speak English, much easier for this old senior. I still like to eat kanoom croc, and roti for my desserts. Great for my diet. Cheers.
  22. Are these tracks elevated the whole distance, at least for road crossing areas, if not I do not see any high speed train success except for a big accident in the future. Harvey
  23. So now Russia is going to take some nukes to Belarus, well that is just peechy, since Belarus is next door to Ukraine, and seems to be a puppet country. Then there are some people in the world who still think that Ukraine is not a separate country from Russia? I have seen some posters from the USA who do not think that Ukraine deserves all the support it is getting. What a strange world we live in. Just my opinion.
  24. Uh Oh troubles in Germany. Guess I will travel somewhere else.
  25. Another, tourist who cut his holiday short by drinking too much, and not just going back to his shack, or guest house. Time to go home and avoid Thailand for at least 5 years or so, with the help of Thailand authorities.
