  1. Road works are not well illuminated here, it's just one more hazard on the roads, however the pictures suggest the driver should have seen them unless the lights came on after the accident.
  2. Yes we know tourists are ripped off everywhere, but when you work and pay tax in a country for many years it becomes rather annoying. It is one of the downsides of living in Thailand. Just count the pros and cons to decide if you can put up with it or find somewhere else. As for the Thais they shoot themselves in the foot so often I lost count but people still come.
  3. Isn't it time this guy got a nice cosy inactive post before he does any more damage?
  4. Another who opens his mouth before his brain is awake. When will Thai officials learn they are not THE law maker, just part of the system. Loss of face again Mr Anutin? Som nam na!
  5. Thanks for that I am missing my download "ThaiVisa" calendar for 2566 already.
  6. Oh dear, I thought you had a Motor Torpedo Boat for sale. Good luck selling the push bike.
  7. The <deleted> are the people who deny what is actually beginning to happen, it was delayed for a couple of years by something that got in the way. Maybe you never noticed the pandemic because you were standing on your head in a bucket of sand, or worse, reading The Guardian. PS. I love how "brexiteers" is allowed but not the nickname for stay voters.
  8. They can keep on saying it and in the reasonably near future they will be proved right. Being in denial is exclusive to the left. Have a look at France if this link works:
  9. Left wing nonsense. Take a look at the EU, is not in any better state, did Brexit do that too!
  10. Te Finns like a drink but one of the funniest things I have seen more than once is two Thais on a motorbike coming to a halt at a red traffic light and neither putting a foot down and toppling onto the road sober.
  11. I can say as an asthmatic who smoked it for years up to 1990 it never helped with that. I never experienced the hybrid "skunk weed" so I've no idea how that affects people. It seems odd that some administrations allow it and some don't while there has been little interest in testing its effectiveness in pain relief for certain illnesses. It looks to me that Thailand declassified it as a tourist draw in a bid to increase revenue and better compete with other local destinations. I have no reason to doubt my friend's word though and although he might be an exception to the norm I suggest you refrain from dismissing his opinion as purely "anecdotal".
  12. Two key comments in the article: "Thailand's marijuana policy was ill thought through which has resulted in these interim teething issues." "Further clarity will come with the Cannabis Act due next year though that is unlikely to have many surprises. Cannabis is set to stay legal and available in Thailand - though watch this space as to what you can and can't do with weed. And watch out for how the RTP interpret the law. " Same old story, they announce something without much thought or deliberation and later have to put the mistakes right. Enjoy it while you can (for those that do).
  13. I agree, however some do say it helps alleviate the symptoms and pain of certain conditions, so I'm not against its use for "medical purposes" for that reason. I have a friend with chronic arthritis who hates all the painkillers and says it works. He used to work in a nuclear power station control room so he is a pretty sensible and responsible person.
  14. A case of "This Is Thailand". Sounds like you have done what you can. You have my sympathy. Where are the bars and how long have they been there? How many Thais and Farangs have signed the petition by percentage of the number of residents affected in the area (not just your building)? Sounds like the Council could be looking for an incentive if it's not in a zone.
  15. Same old story and I expected this to happen. In Thailand nothing is ever thought through before it is announced. This was made legal very quickly and people have disregarded what the intention of legislation was. They said all along "it wasn't intended for marijuana to be used recreationally", but that is what has happened. I gave the stuff up in 1991 so it doesn't bother me. I hope those who are sick can still benefit from its use though.
  16. The bar's license seems to cover sales between 2-5pm or is there a "police licence" you need to pay for weekly or monthly? Buying from any shop with an electronic till is basically impossible, in Bangkok anyway.

  20. I have to say I have been here many years myself and one of the reasons I have never "bought" anywhere here is what has happened to you. But you must realise it hasn't just happened to you it is every other person in the building, that would be 90% if they stuck to the rules on Condos. Nobody else complains of course. The building owners must not have paid off the land owners where the bars have been built. Have a polite word in the juristic office if you speak enough Thai. I would bet you are not alone.
  21. Well, you actually mean weed is not illegal itself but what you do with it and where and how can be depending on what you do.
