So true and many shops have high steps to their entrance without handrails . I have lost a lot of balance since a stroke and descending stairs is a nightmare . I have to walk down backwards whilst holding the handrail . No handrail ? then no way am I going up stairs . Lets face it Thailand has little consideration for pedestrians with disabilities . Uneven and sloping pavements are a big problem for me , also high kerbs . Wheelchairs in Thailand maybe OK within a hospital or airport but in Thai towns forget it .  To  Poppysdad  , have you considered an electric carriage that can be used on the road , thus avoiding the hazardous pavements ?

I can agree wih you, some place i visited once thought the handrails were nice for a plant feature so had a pot on every step with trailing plants growing all along each side of the steps, rendering the handrails completely useless, OK nag over, us stick users just have to careful especially with the last step down which always seem to be much deeper than the previous ones!

I've got a blank canvass and it's going to stay that way.  I've never understood the allure unless you where three-sheets-to-the-wind in Subic and wake up screwed, blued, and tattooed.

Me too, i'm blessed with a lovely Irish white skin with a few touches of salmon pink here and there, and which the whole thing turns into a rather fetching fire engine red at the first touch of sunshine on it, and i would'nt dream of molesting it with tattoos of any sort, i'm just lucky i guess lol

Seriously though i don't like tattoos on young or old women at all, mostly not needed in my opimion.

My daughter discovered this by accident when she inexplicably received a notice of coding sent to her address in Yorkshire.  (This after NOT receiving anything for years either there or in Thailand.)  So I checked the YouGov site to find they had credited me with a full State Pension of 10K & not what I was receiving (nearer 5000!)

On my next UK visit we phoned up; endured the hour waiting for a human.  We were told the fault lay with the DWP.  Again with the wait only to be told in no uncertain terms that they had sent the reduced rate HMRC every year as it never varied for 15 years (I am 81.)  So back we went & eventually got through to an operative who went the extra mile.  He confirmed my worst fears: I have been taxed on money I never received.

You could start here - www.gov.uk/complain-about-hmrc

I have received over 5K in back tax for two years with a promise of some more for one other year tho' this has not been forthcoming nor anything for the previous dozen or so years!

Thanks Mike will give it a go, have lived in Thailand for 10 yrs have heard about this the DWP being bone idle (probably working from home) and not passing on the frozen pension info. to the tax office, thanks again!

Excellent post. Can't argue against any of it, but I'd add that there is nothing in it for them for any government to allow pension increases for expats. It isn't going to cost them votes. I do find it odd though that certain Commonwealth countries don't get the increase but other countries do. Canada no, USA yes, for example.

It might cost them votes most of public comments i have read (mostly women) are against us getting any increase, if anything it seems they would vote for pensions to be completely stopped for expats JMO of course!

State pensions are included in your annual total income (I have 2 other pensions) then the final sum is taxed.  DWP tell HMRC what my pension is and then for 15 years they have ignored it & assumed I was on the full unfrozen rate.  I have received over 5K back from their mistake for only the last 3 years of their error.

Could you elaberate on that Mike, i've often thought of doing the same but did'nt know where to start TIA

i have another private pension as well as the DWP pittance so get taxed on the total of the 2 pensions i receive

Over the past 75 years it has all been wasted by successive governments. Not one of them has ever been worth a light and wouldn't give you the drippings from their nose on a cold winters day. This went to the ECHR a few years back and was thrown out, so no chance. UK governments have learnt a lot from Scrooge over the years, and still building on it.

True, that well known labour socialist Tony Blair fought tooth and nall to get it stopped and thrown out, been ongoing now for something like 75 years so not much chance of getting it changed, that was one thing Corbin agreed with saying it was grossly unfair (refering to frozen pensions), had he got in of course like most mps would have dropped it. But saying that Kudos to those trying to get changed never give up!

Just my 2 penny worth to this old thread!

The last may be something of a miracle, given that there was a very widespread rumour that "Yinn" was a (male) Australian practical joker!

A theory rather supported by the speed with which "poster of the year" was dropped like a hot potato!

No she was sacked for arguing with the bloke who used to do "The week that was" and put paid to "The Poster of the year" it seemed she then joined "The Thaiger" (sp.) and somebody congratulated her on her baby, whether she is still with the thaiger i don't know i'm not a member, that's all i know!

If you look at the video he is still in Thailand teaching at a University and does not co operate with the police refusing a DNA test. I wonder if he paid them off?. Should be arrested and threatened with deportation unless he does. Not sure how old this film is. He also refused to let her body be sent back to Thailand, which is odd in itself.Yes i was thinking of a different casealtogether as below

    • Shane Kenneth Looker, 52, convicted of 2014 murder of Laxami Manochat, 31
    • The British man had killed the sex worker while he was in Bangkok, Thailand
    • Her dismembered body and belongings were found in a suitcase days later

You would have liked Yinn. She was fun and entertaining. Many felt the same as she was the final Poster of the Year.

There are curmudgeon Thais who don't like farangs and curmudgeon farangs who don't like Thai's. Or think that Thai's don't like them. Or something.

She actually set a record of sorts, joining the forum treading on a few toes and making a few friends on the way, then won poster of the year then promptly got sacked all well within 12 months, hard to beat that!

Ps Last i heard she just had a baby for what it 's worth!

A TM 30 should be filed with the IO soon after arriving in Thailand.  I'm married to my Thai wife and she owns the house we stay in, within a few days of me returning (after the Covid lock out) I went to Jomtien IO with copies of her house book, ID card and a few other copies I can't recall now (my passport/visa?) Then a few months later I applied for my extension based on marriage.

Thanks same situation as me, just that i had never heard (rememberd) of a TM 30 form!!

I have not received my pension since May. I emailed them on their Any Changes to Circumstances website and received a reply two days later informing me that they had not received my Proof of Life form. The last one I received was in 2020. They enclosed a PDF of the form, which I've returned. I'll just have to wait and see. I bet the problem of the op is the Proof of Life form.

What is the email address for future reference if needed TIA
