The problem is that these hernias can "strangulate" in which case the blood supply to part if the intestine is cut off. This is a very serious, even life-threatening complication. The risk of it is about 2.5% per year that the hernia goes untreated. (So by the ten year mark cumulative risk is 25% -- significant). For people in otherwise good health these risks well exceed the small risks of a surgical repair.

The equation changes if the person has unusual risk factors for surgery.

I was just stating my experiance Sheryl as said i'm no doctor thanks for your input though, i assume tthe opener will read your post and act accordingly.

Im interested in your comment. Actually Ive had the hernia for several weeks now and no issues. I wonder if I can just leave it for a while similar to the way I deal with other health issues.

The type of hernia i was thinking of is Inguinal hernia an egg shaped lump in the groin area that disappears when i lay down in bed at night for instance, it does'nt hurt at all, and i have never thought about medical treatment, but i'm no doctor this is my experience, google it yourself Inguinal hernia ius very common!

    Best of luck!

316 is also Marine Grade as it can go in the ocean and not have any corrosion.  Anyone looking for 316 hardware can find it at the boat shops around the marinas etc.  or on marine hardware websites.   Careful though,  they seem to mark up the price a lot.

If you're worried about the bolts locking up (personally I've only had issues with using different metals,  like stainless bolts in aluminum threads) then you should use anti-seize or molybdenum grease.  This will last way way longer than oil.  You can also buy special non-conductive grease if different metals are used.

Thanks interesting, in my working life for many years, i worked in fabrication, and repairing in the food manufacturing  industry, we would use 316 SS all the time (by law inspectors would check) and several times not often had nut and bolts lock up solid  i'm talking about when you first screw the nut on by hand maybe only a few threads in, it would lock up you then had to cut the bolt off and start again, and as luck would have it usually in the most awkward places to get to, as said not often but can happen!

The OP shouldn’t have any trouble, these are the guidelines Wise offers online: https://wise.com/us/blog/how-to-open-wise-account#:~:text=Register with Wise online%2C or,Google%2C Facebook or Apple account.

These type of organisations aren’t oriented towards registering by e-mail. Downloading the Wise app and registering via that would probably be the easiest way.

Thank you, the verification number they send never arrives and neither does the SMS service tried many times now my number is blocked, tried the help desk, that then asks to login which i obviously can't do, then unhelpfully suggests registering so it goes round and round, maybe i'll look for an alternative

  6. Have been trying to register with Wise with no luck, filled in my email plus Thai phone number was informed verification code has been sent nothing arrives, tried the phone option again nothing, tried several times and am now blocked, is there something obvious my 84 yr old brain is missing. can i not register via email?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section; if so mods can you please move?

From the initial start my UK pension DWP (IPC) said would be paid into my Thai bank on Mondays.

It got changed to Thursdays because bank codes for the swift thingy or whatever.

Anyway i asked DWP for the 3 days in hand to be added to my next pension.

    I got no reply. ????

I have'nt used "Swift" i just get money transfered via Halifax bank £9.50 regardless of the amount, usually 4 days which is OK as said always arrives monday except for bank holidays, have recently well 3 or 4 months back filled in a proof of life form sent back registered so hopefully everything went through, not surprised at no reply from DWP probably some lazy assed bartsart working from home and refusing to return to his/her office, and our spineless so called leaders are frightened to do anything about it!

Nothing wrong at all with doing this IMHO if you're really stuck in finding someone to perform the witnessing function who complies in every respect with DWP's over-fussy eligibility criteria - provided, of course, that you are, in fact, still in the land of the living (and you would, of course, be in considerable difficulty in doing all the necessary in any event if you weren't!). DWP almost certainly have no way of checking the authenticity of any name you choose to use for this purpose.

Only serves to underline the whole futility of the Life Certificate charade in the way it is being administered in practice by DWP, I think.

Agreed futile, but what do you do about the witness official "stamp" being required, just leave blank?

On a similar subject, I read on Asean Now last year that national parks had reduced the admission fees for foreigners to 200 baht.

On New Year's day, faced with very heavy traffic on Mitraphap on a trip to Bangkok, my friend and I decided to go a different way, passing through Khao Yai National Park - my friend told me it was free for New Year.

It was free - for her but it wasn't the 200 baht for me that I was expecting. The fee for foreigners to enter Khao Yai National Park is still 400 baht.

I've refused to pay 10 times the amount that Thai's are charged since they enforced it for local foreigners a few years back but it was my friend (Thai) who told them to stick it this time and u-turned!

10 times the price or 1000% to put it in it's true perspective!

Sorry about that Max.....been having a few computer problems!!!!!!!

And as far as I know a Will like this will be acceptable in the UK, and the main thing is to have all the witnesses and signatures correct on the document.

I did a Will for an old friend of mine here who was close to death and hadn't done anything about this, and this was before I had found this current version. However I did find one online and complete it for him and as far as I can recall it was much the same as the one I sent you – – having said that, you can find an online Will (free) in the UK which, although basic, will suffice.

Thanks for your answer, the reason i wanted this was although i have no assets in the UK it was to make it easier for my Thai wife to be able to transfer money left in my account to her account, we are both with same bank, as i have heard that a bank will hold onto any money for a period of time to make sure any other claimant's can come forward, and a "will" should by-pass this issue ( i hope) as she would be on a limited time UK visitors visa!
