Where are the batteries located ?

On my Nationwide card reader there is a little rectangular hole on the back bottom left just off centre put  a pointed knife etc in the hole and lever out a little, the battery holder will appear enough to get a nail grip on the  battery holder and pull out you need two CR2032 batteries easily obtainable in 7/11 stores, hope this will help you!

  2. May as well put my two bahts worth in, from Nationwide i have had two cards sent to me in Thailand one took two and a half months to get here mainly i presume on account of C-19, by which time i had emailed them, they then sent another card two months ago which cancels the previous card this card has not arrived yet, after constant complaints to their complaints section they finally sent a card via DHL this was after i said i was going to the ombudsman to sort this out after four and a half months of not being able to access my account, in the course of this fiasco they deposited two lots of £50 to my account for my troubles, i think a threat to go to the ombudsman livens things up a bit, previously Nationwide has sent cards out when needed via regular post with no problems!

As for the Nationwide card reader its easy to change the two batteries required!

Frank Zappa was best known for his guitar abilities but he was multi-instrumental, a composer, singer, songwriter, and band leader.  He was known for his work’s non-conformity, free form improvisation style, and sound experiments. He was an open critic of American society as well as organized religion. His musical style ranged from rock, jazz, classical, doo-wop, jazz fusion, and much more. Sadly, he passed away from cancer in 1993 when he was 52 years old.

Agreed, and lumbered his daughter up with the name "Moon Unit" at the same time!

In his mandatory 4 September 2014 asset disclosure to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the prime minister listed 128.6 million baht (US$3.9 million) in assets and 654,745 baht (US$20,000) in liabilities.[His assets included a Mercedes Benz S600L, a BMW 740Li series sedan, three additional vehicles, nine luxury watches valued at three million baht,[US$200,000 in jewelry, and several pistols. He also reported the transfer of 466.5 million baht (US$14.3 million) to other family members. As army chief, prior to his retirement at the end of September, the general received a 1.4 million baht (US$43,000) annual salary.

Since the last time I looked the links showing his wealth at 2 billion baht have disappeared, but then maybe he is so very wealth because Prayut is a published songwriter. In the aftermath of the 2014 coup, Prayut wrote a song called "Return Happiness to Thailand", which is widely played on state radio and television stations.  The song communicates that the Thai people had not been happy as a result of the political crisis, and that the junta has come to return happiness to the people.

So his wealth must be from all of the royalties he has received every time it is played.....lol

Not bad for a Military General song writer,  dancer and frog talker then, and of course all above board, i've copied the figures you have posted if you don't mind (say if you do) for reference, the figure i quoted as i said came from another post a couple of weeks back and apparently came from Wiki!

Case in point he is now worth a cool 2 billion baht when he was only worth just millions when he swept himself into power.  To bad this country can not do like Malaysia and the corrupt bribe taking brown envelope takers rounded up and arrested.  Or maybe like Saudi Arabia did a few years ago just imprison the lot in a hi-so hotel for well, life. Something needs to change, all these scheming tards need to be tossed out.

I read a couple of weeks back from another poster, when he came to power he was worth 2 billion and today he's worth 5 billion this from a Wiki source, i can't vouch for it but can easily believe it!

Well, the only thing that surprises me is that the courts didn't suggest dissolving the opposition party. I mean, they are only there as token for the international stage. They are inert. The PM now has a clear run to openly do whatever he wants.

He has actually said those very words a couple of years back now, he can do anything he wants!

Quite logic, isn't it? When you don't let in foreigners to rip them off with your officially sanctioned dual pricing, charging 5 times the prices a Thai has to pay, then you don't get this money from the tourists. Surprised, general Chonklai? :coffee1:

Still Thai officials did not find a way to get the tourists money without letting them in, but we know it is their wet dream.

Some Thai girls have this mystic talent, though.

Change The rip off price from 5x To 10x and too be more accurate or 1000% i refuse to go in any of these places, not that they are worried but makes feel better!

For reference - I made enquiries with DHL here in Cambodia about sending a letter to the UK. I was quoted 74US$ (2,220 baht approx.) for an A4 single sheet letter. Fortunately Cambodia Post now offers EMS track & trace airmail to the UK for 37US$ (half the price). My two A4 letters took 14 days door-to-door. Still expensive but worth it for important pensions documentation.

I returned the proof of life form via DHL took 2 days with proof of delivery cost 1,285 bht not cheap, i don't know the cost via other couriers but probably cheaper!

I saw an add on FB the other week, House boats on the river Kwai in Kanchanaburi, having lived in Thailand many years Im sure they could come up with some law to stop a Farang owning one.

Yes i'm sure they'd fire a law in there double quick time, if there is'nt one already which i doubt, my original post was just a query, i had a mate a few years back who with his then Thai girlfriend bought such a house on stilts over water, before he got a chance to move in her family swift as lightning were in there firmly ensconced, he got a lot of ribbing over that one although it had only cost him £750 , thanks for reply!

I had Bupa for many years as well but I switched to AETNA (your brother should check them out) because I also let BUPA lapse for 18 months by mistake. AETNA is reasonable at about $5.8k per year for $2 mill of cover at 58 years old including any Covid related incidents to $ 2mill. There was a two year moratorium when I took it out but they are excellent. Let me try and find out what my father has - but I think it may be BUPA UK though!! For travel I buy online in Thailand - AIG Travel Guard - THB 8,776.00 for a year. That covers THB 5 mill personal accident plus THB 5 mill overseas medical expenses plus a bunch of other things including loss of baggage and stolen items etc. I have never made a claim but this covers accident while traveling and AETNA the healthcare. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that i will pass it on, i think the BUPA cut off date was something like 70 yrs old might even be younger the price i was quoting i think i was somthing like 50yr old it was just getting ridiculous increasing every month, but the post i was referring to said his father still had insurance cover at 88 yrs old at a reasonable cost, of course the obvious question would be, what do you call a reasonable cost even if you still have cover after many years with that company!

he wasnt 80 years old. There is point of infliction where the premium is more than the risk of self insuring and that simply means planning for it. My father is 88 and he has still maintains private health insurance in the UK at a reasonable cost because he has had it for years and years.

I had insurance in the UK with BUPA for many years the cost increased monthly till it got to something like £83 a month i had never made a claim, i then stopped monthly payments they never got back to me even after more than 18 years with them, so much for loyalty!

I know he was not eighty yrs old and never said he was, i was refering to your and others glib statements saying everybody should have insurance, any fool knows that, just try getting it in Thailand from 70 yr old and onwards and check at the cost if you can get it!

Can you let me know the name of the insurer your father has got, i have a much younger brother in the UK who is looking for a long term insurance scheme at reasonable cost, who would be very interested in you fathers scheme, Thank you!
