Prior to buying my MG HS, I had a Porsche Cayenne which I bought new in 2019, when I sold it in 2021, 2 years after I bought it it only had 8k Km on it, it was only driven in BKK and a few outside trips. I have a Yamaha X-max 300 I bought right after I sold the Porsche, and it only has a little over 1k km on it. Living in the city I don't drive but a few km a day here and there. My 2012 Mitsubishi Triton I had in Udon, had over 200k km on it after driving just 4 years, thats what happens when you live far away from everything. Mileage is relevant to how much folks drive, some drive alot and others like me drive not to much. The MG HS has 22k on it now, but when you drive to Phuket, Chiang Mai and other places you put on the miles. The X-Max will get lots of miles after the weather changes and we stay in southern Hua Hin more. I would be wary of buying a used car from someone who does not have the paperwork to back it up. Almost all of the Thai's I have known or met over the years service there vehicle regularly and keep the receipts, thats why they always want to sell it for big money.....

Biden cancels $10,000 in federal student loan debt for most borrowers
ThailandRyan replied to Scott's topic in World News
Of course in your view those that volunteered and went to places like Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan as well as many of the other small locales like in Beirut, Lebanon where many also gave their lives while doing the work they were sent to do, did not earn a chance at going to college and the GI bill is just a freebie. How about those? You serve the country and do not deserve any medical assistance lifetime health care, or help in trying to obtain a job outside of the one you were trained for....hmmm I think your a little lost when you say they did not earn a pension or the other benefits they obtained.... -

Self inflicted how? Was it because they had to continue to try and live without jobs or working for the past 2 years with the country closed...try again.

Would you get in one of these ?
ThailandRyan replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
You just love the word Sheeple don't you. Anybody who thinks differently then you is a sheeple, do I have that right? The word is not appropriate for anything other than labeling a farm animal as what it is called a Sheep. Stop with the condescending and name calling by using the word. Why not use the word lemming, because you Sir are following others when you use the word Sheeple. -

Sure it would, with all of the cameras surrounding the vehicle and assisting in it's operation, you might not get anywhere quickly because of the motorbikes. Again your biased because you hate anything CCP.... -
Living here myself for many years, I have found that everyday speaking of the language, watching Thai news and television, as well as trying to read the dailies after having taken courses will only strengthen ones ability to speak Thai. Classes are available everywhere in Thailand, and doing research will allow someone to make a decision. It was while taking courses in Phuket in 2009 that I also decided that there were many different ways to learn Thai. Pidgin Thai and Tinglish is found near bar areas, and is not an area to try and expand ones knowledge or ability.

The citizens paying the taxes which subsidize it. -
4 months to go and do they really expect 6 million more in that small period of time. 1.5 million a month, can it be done with the global economy and inflation occurring, I guess anything is possible. If the economy could be ignited here without this governments interference to stuff there pockets full it might increase the countries popularity. Remove the excess import fees on items such as wine, allow the tourist areas to flourish by licensing more lower cost hotels/home stays which have been stifled.....so much more.

Biden cancels $10,000 in federal student loan debt for most borrowers

I just finished paying off my oldest daughters school loans from her first 2 years of college. Took me 10 years to pay it off. The student loan company sent me an e-mail thanking me, but also asking why I did not use the forbearance available and not make payments to help out my financial status. <deleted> is wrong with people, using a forbearance only adds the missed payments and interest to the back end of your loan and costing more in the end....no wonder people want forgiveness. Nothing is free in this world, pay what you borrowed, and quit giving handouts to folks. No wonder the US is now known as the "Give Me Give Me" I deserve it for free country and not the "What can I do to help my country, without asking for anything". My grandfathers generation, the greatest generation as they are known for the sacrifices they made, must be rolling over in there graves. -
Oil Fuel Fund keeps diesel price at 35 baht per liter
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Eventually the bill will come due and the public/citizens will have to shoulder the debt this creates. One wonders where the free money is coming from to build the fund...yes I know from the refineries and oil companies, but then it is tax money being levied which could be spent paying down the debt incurred by this Government......nothing is free in this world. -
Thai passport offices in Bangkok area do a roaring trade on Saturday
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Yet, the Myanmar Embassy in BKK has told its millions of citizens with expired passports in the country they will need to wait until after the new year. So with my GF's passport expiring in November along with her extension of stay I hired an agent who obtained a que this past Tuesday for my GF to renew her passport at the Myanmar consulate in Chiang Mai, where they are only doing 100 a day. Had too pay for her to be driven up with 10 other, they drove overnight on Monday, and arrived Tuesday morning where she was processed and was told it will take a month for the passport to be mailed to her here in Bangkok, at which time she will have to have the 1 month left on her extension transferred into the new passport and we will start the process again. Thai citizens are lucky to be able to do it at a terminal and get it so quickly. Even as a US Citizen it took over 2 weeks from application to having it in hand. -

Cabinet approves 2.9bn baht EV sale subsidy
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wondering how that 10 passenger EV van will get the group from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in 10 hours if it has to stop and charge 4 times to get there.....asking for a friend who just traveled to the Myanmar Consulate for a passport....
