  1. Ah the PM and his cronies bringing happiness to the people once more. If they were to dissolve the parties, it should have been done prior to all of the electioneering going on. If they do dissolve the parties, it is going to leave many many folks disgruntled as they will become disenfranchised in there voting rights. Just my thoughts.
  2. Were they Government employee's sent overseas to work? If they were Thais that went over seas to work many more than likely did so not at the behest of the government but went to do jobs where the money paid was more and they could send it home. Were these workers not hired by employers outside of the country who then obtained there visas for them. I find it hard to believe that the government could just send somebody carte blanche without a valid visa or permit given by the country they went to. Why would the department of labor be involved with allowing workers to leave the country. Does Thailand have contracts with foreign governments and corporations to obtain employees from Thailand? If thats the case then I can see where the Department of labor would be involved. One wonders what the required level of education the folks being sent overseas must have if as the PM says: I don't think picking strawberries in South Korea of in the EU desires knowledge and technology. Just my humble and honest opinion.
  3. Made a request a few days ago for a quote for work to be done outside of the condo in Bangkok, tile replacement and painting on my 3 balconies, Quote came in, but this morning had an e-mail indicating he needed to raise the prices as the costs of the tile, and other items has increased. Good thing I had not told him to go ahead with the work based upon his original quote. All items are increasing it appears.
  4. Trump did have this to say about how well his Trial is going and why he took a trip to Ireland instead of attending. Wondr who is feeding him the news that his trial is going very well. World reacts as Donald Trump explains disrespectful move (msn.com) “We’ve had a long-standing agreement to come here. We’ve had a tremendous reception, a beautiful reception,” Trump said, according to Sky News. Trump did not sound terribly concerned about the court proceedings back in New York, even though a reporter asked him if he thought it was disrespectful that he chose not to attend the trial. “The people of Ireland have been great, and we’ve had tremendous success, and I hear we’re doing very well in New York,” Trump said.
  5. That is the question of the day. What do normal everyday people use cyanide for. Looks like this investigation has opened up a full can of worms.
  6. As I have said in my posts on many OPs regarding inflation etc...the numbers this governments pumps out make no sense. To me inflation is still climbing. Looking over my spreadsheets on my expenditures for the past 2 years my costs have risen almost 20% for the same items, which Include my fuel costs as well as food costs. Household cost increases are up across all items except one, my water bill has stayed constant. Prices for eating out have also increased, this can be attributed to rising fuel prices for cooking gas, fuel for transporting items needed, buying g said items which have increased. Not sure what the basket of goods they use to determine this decreasing inflation figure includes that people use on an everyday basis, and what's not included that people use the most. Just my viewpoint.
  7. It was only a matter of time before cases around the world started to increase with the opening up of venues for different celebrations, Songkran being Thailand's celebration that brought hundred of thousands together in close proximity.
  8. When and if a conflict kicks off the world supply of everything will be affected, much like it was during Covid when cars could not be assembled to completion due to Chip issues. Current volitivity in the Ukraine has also reduced exports of food stuffs. If we have another major conflict the whole world will be affected when it comes to parts for cars no matter where they will be coming from. Local factories will need to be built in order to build all in house, and one day things will look like they did 40 years ago. Nothing is a mathematical certainty, unless things stay status quo and outside forces do not come into play. My MG HS-X is now 3 years old, runs like a top, and has only had one issue and that was caused by a defective battery which was replaced under warranty. I have now over 30k KM's on it.
  9. What's starting to affect our water supply down here in HH/PKK is the new houses being developed, as water is moved to new storage facilities to feed these new locations. I have been watching as new large blue water pipes and klongs are being added into the infrastructure. Two weeks ago in our location many of the homes had the water tanks run low as no new water was being pumped in due to a rupture in the main line where the property developers were cutting into the piping to place a T. Took them 2 days to repair it as water just continued to flow out of the main pipe unabated.
  10. You might want to do some more research as far as the manufacturing goes, and it has nothing to do with Thailands ageing population. https://www.businessinsider.com/chinese-supply-chains-moving-companies-outside-mainland-2023-4?op=1 As Southeast Asia's second-largest economy, Thailand has been moving up the value chain in manufacturing and is a production hub for car parts, vehicles, and electronics, with multinationals such as Sony and Sharp setting up shop there. And Chinese companies aren't too far behind either. For instance, Chinese companies have relocated parts of their supply chains to Thailand. Companies producing solar panels, such as Shanghai's JinkoSolar, are moving their production to the island nation to take advantage of lower costs and avoid geopolitical tensions, the South China Morning Post reported in July. Chinese car-parts manufacturers are also making their way to Thailand due to pressure from their overseas clients who are now wary of relying too much on China and over geopolitical tensions, Bloomberg reported on April 11, citing car-parts suppliers.
  11. Remember that not all of the models owned by SAIC, BYD, GWM are being built in China. The MG's are being built here in Thailand, and new factories for BYD are going in or are already building cars here.
  12. As DrJack says the single use re-entry permit is good until your extension of stay ends, at which time if not used the re-entry stamp becomes invalid. Remember that when used the re-entry stamp only gets you restamped in your passport for the end date of your current extension of stay. Prior to my current Visa class, I would obtain a single re-entry permit just on the off chance I would travel in and out to ensure I did not loose my extension of stay.
  13. Wait are there not already daily Vlogs by a multitude of tourists or expats extolling Thailand. Why not hire one of them to do the job, I mean there are so many already doing the job.
  14. I will never understand folks who believe that the vaccines are the problem. All vaccines for all viruses, Infections etc.. come with inherent risks dependant upon the individuals own body to accept or reject them. As far as the Covid vaccines it has been debunked time and time again as being the issue with covid infections and deaths. https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-cdc-covid-vaccine-deaths-910677348223 Posts mischaracterize CDC data on COVID-19 vaccine deaths By MELISSA GOLDINJanuary 12, 2023 ADVERTISEMENT CLAIM: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that more than 16,000 American deaths had been caused by the COVID-19 vaccines as of Dec. 23. AP’S ASSESSMENT: Missing context. As of Dec. 23, the CDC reported that over two years it had received 18,007 preliminary reports through VAERS, a user-generated reporting system, of people dying after getting a COVID-19 vaccine. VAERS, run jointly by the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration, relies on unverified reports submitted by the general public. It does not prove that vaccines caused the adverse events reported. Claims about the safety of the vaccines based on data from VAERS have been debunked by The Associated Press on multiple occasions.
  15. Yet as news continues and new issues from new strains are being seen Covid is still of concern. Covid is also still the leading cause of death around the world and not as you say in your post above: "they also die in the thousands of other things every single day. far far more than covid now. the overall mass death threat that covid once was to the general population is now over. https://news.yahoo.com/arcturus-covid-19-variant-spreading-184833692.html 1. According to health officials, COVID-19 is still a leading cause of death around the world, including in the United States where it’s tied to about 250 deaths daily. 2. The World Health Organization is currently classifying XBB.1.16 or Arcturus as a “variant under monitoring,” which is less serious than “variant of interest” or “variant of concern.” However, the classifications are fluid and can change at any time.
  16. Here is an article which assists in explaining the increased numbers https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40026928 The Department of Disease Control (DDC) said on Monday that between April 16 and 22, 1,088 people with severe condition were admitted to hospitals or an average of 155 per day. Of the admitted patients, 73 suffered lung inflammation and 35 required ventilators.
  17. I thought China was in a Freight Recession https://www.cnbc.com/2023/04/24/economy-is-in-a-freight-recession-with-china-trade-heading-lower.html China’s manufacturing data has seen recent improvement out of its Covid reopening, but Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer of Bleakley Financial Group, says the overall trade data coincides with indicators of global economic contraction. “We’re seeing contractions in global manufacturing PMIs [purchasing managers indexes] and I think it correlates to less spending on goods and the need to work down excess inventories,” Boockvar said.
  18. Take a look here, it might help you. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209670 You may have to add the Apple TV App to your Smart TV if it does not have it. My TV's came with the app pre-installed.
  19. No it will not unfortunately. He can not own the land and is why he has a usufruct.
  20. Holidays after holidays as the next week is another holiday week with Royal Ploughing day being on the 11th. It is no wonder the children attend school un-regularly.
