Will Thailand’s new residency visa achieve results?
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Tell me if that's how the Thai Elite Visa works?....because I can assure you it does not and you still have to travel to BKK CW with yourself, your passport, and meet the agent from Thai Elite there for your appointment to have the TE Visa placed in your passport. No other place to do it. The same will be the way this BOI LTR Visa will be done with an agent. You still can not do it in person with turning in an application and the required paperwork as it can only be done by using the LTR website application. So no hand carried paperwork like when you do an extension of stay I am afraid. If and when the day comes that an agent can do it all for you as you think can be done then the BOI will no longer be in business. This is an Investment style Visa and nothing more. You either meet the requirements or you do not and until they decide to widen the locations within Thailand where you can obtain the Visa one will still have to go to BKK Chamchuri Square BOI on one side and the BOI Immigration unit on the other side of the building. Some folks speculate that an agent will be able to rub the immigrations and BOI's shoulders and just obtain the LTR type of visa, 5 different classes, by paying a fee without actually having the requirements as some do with the money in the bank issues for the O and O-A visas. That will never occur, in my view, because if it did then the BOI would be no more. -

@Iknow Care to explain Why? you responded in a OP where the cost for a 10 year LTR Visa is only 50K Thb, not 800K Thb for the Elite, and the payment is not due until you are approved for the LTR Visa so no chance you loose the funds if denied. Another plus is no further fees for the year are due, and with That you do not have to go to immigration and pay 1900 Thb a year for an extension as you currently do with the elite visa if you do not leave the country. No 90 day reports are needed either. Are you advocating the Elite Visa is better if one has money? Not in my view. Could I have purchased the Elite Visa, sure, by why? What I have now with the LTR-P is just as good, if not better in my view and I do not golf, my health insurance gives me a free once a year medical, and with the LTR Visa I get a 10 year multiple re-entry permit to come and go and can use the fast track just like the Elite Visa holders can, sure no limo ride, but dont need it as I have my own vehicle. -

I was already here on a retirement visa extension of stay, but the you knew that. Many others have applied from outside and obtained this visa. Had I not been in Thailand this is the visa I would have applied for. Value for the visa in my view. -

Yes sir the LTR-P or as it is also known, the LTRWP wealthy pensioner Visa. It only requires one to draw a pension of $80K USD per annum, by showing proof of course, and for the individual to also have a $50K USD health insurance policy in effect for the year or at least 10 months availability once the Visa is approved, no holding of investments or property if one can show the $80K USD pension. Additionally, you do not have to pay the money for the Visa until after you are approved...different from all other normal Visas and extension of stays where they can deny you and you loose the money. -

Really need to do some better research. If you can qualify by having a pension of 80K USD and the 50K USD insurance policy, you do not need to have any money invested or deposited in a Thai Bank. The cost for the LTR Visa is 50 THB and that is for 10 years, so your cost is basically 5k THB a year and includes the ME Re-Entry permit. If you do an annual extension and get a ME Re-Entry permit you are paying 5700Thb per year, so your ahead of the money curve and nothing is needed here in the bank. Look at each of the categories before you cast dispersions at the visa. WHere you found your posted information is suspect. It is 50K Thb Inside Thailand, outside with the currency conversions it runs a little more, but there are no annual fees at least for the LTRWP, LTR-P Visa. -

Sure it will benefit those folks who can qualify. If you can't qualify then so be it other visas out there. However, I qualified and as one who now has it, I have benefited. Been in an out of the country and was stamped back in for the remainder of my 1st 5 year stamp. Multiple re-entry permit is included. 50k Thb was the cost for 10 years and nothing further needed. Like i said this visa class has already been issued to myself and others starting in September. So many negative Nelly's as usual. -

Better look again at the LTRWP category. No investments in bonds or property needed if you meet or exceed the $80,000 USD a year pension requirement. -

Only Financials I had to show for the LTRWP, wealthy pensioner, was my pension letter indicating I was paid the minimum $80k USD a year the visa required and had a $50k USD Health insurance policy in place for the year. Nothing more, if you do this meet that requirement then the investment in bonds or properties can kick in too help. I dont have to keep property or an investment here as my pension meets the 80k USD annual requirement. My pension is well over that figure but I agree many are not. -

Then she has more money than common sense it would appear, or she just doesn't care. For the next 10 years and then 10 years after that and so on, as long as the program doesn't sunset, I am in a good position and never need to be concerned with traveling in and out and neither will my GF soon to be spouse as her visa will be like mine. -

Not going to happen as it's being done through the BOI. The Financials are pretty rigid. There will be agents eventually but the will be like the Thai Elite Visa agents. This from another OP running regarding the LTR. "The latest LTR program numbers from a BoI LTR presentation yesterday": To date: *2,120 applications * 745 approved * 1,168 in process * 207 rejected (but it was noted that about half of these apparently returned for more information or translations, so not fully rejected) Top 5 nationalities applying: * USA 386 * China 247 * Russia 182 * UK 168 * Germany 121 Breakdown of LTR visas approved: * Wealthy Global Citizens 41 * Wealthy Pensioners 254 * Work from Thailand Professionals 216 * Highly Skilled Professionals 75 * Dependents 159 -

Yes never to see CW again. The visa also has a 10 year ME re-entry permit attached and you don't need to keep 800k or 400k locked in a bank here. Once a tear residence report instead of 90 days as well and you can add up to 4 dependants, so your spouse and children if you want. 50k THB is the price for the 10 year visa. -

Did she even look at the LTR Visa or contact BOI. I applied for the LTRWP visa or LTR-P, and based upon just my pension and insurance I qualified. I applied September 2nd just after the program went into play, and was approved on the 28th of September. If I had not had the pension then I would have qualified on owning my house and condo and having money in the bank. It is pretty straightforward. -

Until Myanmar stops the indiscriminate bombing of civilians I will skip the country. The area we would visit is the GFs home village in Kachin State and she is ethnic Karen. Don't want to chance. -
Look awfully young to be true expats. One wonders Der how they determined they were expats and not tourists who come and go many times a year. If the incident is proven true then they should be charged, fined, di jail time or be deported with a blacklisting. In the end the listing as a expat attacking Thais gives is all a black eye.

Why, most and I say most vaccinations were free or if not were coveted by insurance. You folks think that Big Pharma was making trillions from thus. Do you think it's any different for your Viagra....oops you pay for that one.

Ergo and when I said that in another OP, not using the exact words, you told me to Stop and I was wrong with my view.....toodles. Manipulation is manipulation whether using the FOREX or buying currency in order to drop and strengthen the Baht, speculation in buying up funds is always risky, so tell me what will occur when there view does not materialize....guess I should just short it....
