Delaying air travel for me is not an issue as i fall into married and have child......the delay in getting home is the financial cost of getting from sydney australia to nakhon si tammarat. Having been quoted $16,500 for a 1 way flight, still waiting 2 months now for australian boarder force permission to travel, and its impossible to get a covid19 test done within 72 hours of flying.
Yes there is a cheaper flight that has a stop over in china....for australians it is a do not travel zone due to the changes in the laws............
That is a massive fare price... I was looking on the Thai Airways website for a fare from Auckland to BKK in February, advertised at $1800NZ. Economy fare

Taken from Daily Mail article on ONS figures:
62k excess deaths - ONS
There have been almost 62,000 deaths above what would normally be expected in the UK during the coronavirus outbreak, while deaths involving Covid-19 continue to fall.
There were 56,308 excess deaths in England and Wales between March 21 and May 22, compared with the average number of deaths for that period over five years, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
I guess it could have been 100k if UK had not gone in to lockdown.
I do agree that lockdown is not the answer long term.
The UK, very likely, would have been much worse off.
I agree about lockdown, not a long term solution.
Look at the situation in New Zealand in comparison to Sweden with approximately twice the population, similar lifestyles etc.
NZ statistics
Confirmed1,154+0Recovered1,131Deaths22Swedens Stats
Confirmed38,589Recovered4,971Deaths4,468Twice the population yet 20x the fatality rate. Yep, that was the right approach alright.
New Zealand went into a prolonged lockdown, 6 weeks beginning March 25. Then to Level 3, now in Level 2. There was an announcement by the Prime Minister today that a move to Level 1 will be announced early next week, possibly Monday.
New Zealand has done well on a health perspective. The social and financial impact, as we all know, will be felt for a long time to come.

But, do I even need to say it, locking down has severe consequences that far outweigh and benefits of those deaths when not locking down.
Are you saying life is secondary to ??

Who appointed these people to collect donation for the animals? Obviously, most of the donations will go to them instead of the animals.
People should donate directly to the zoo instead of scammers like these.
I'm sure it is listed either on this forum or elsewhere that the zoo or owner is bankrupt.
You are welcome to send your money to the zoo.. instead of these 'scammers' as you call them.
Looking at the conditions of the animals and the zoo grounds, I'm sure the owner would welcome any assistance you could offer.

Most of the comments I see on this topic are the usual dip<deleted> haters who sound as though they have no better thing in their pitiful lives than to spout the usual negative <deleted> over and over. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.
The little that can be seen of the inside of the enclosures and the physical appearance of that tiger is appalling. That place is a disgrace as are a number of 'zoos' in Thailand.
I think these people are genuine in the concern for the animals in this zoo. It looks like they have more concern than the owner in their mansion.
If I get censured or banned by the mods for this post... good bloody job. TV News is turning into a whinge fest. There are very good parts to TV but this part.... pfft

Not gonna happen. The Chinese were the first to be "banned" from Thailand. Do they really think that slight will not be forgotten? There are simply too many other nations to compete for the tourist dollar, and most are doing a better job. The Chinese will return, but I suspect the numbers will be far lower than before. You know what they say about putting all of your eggs in one basket? Thailand had been warned of the dangers of becoming too dependent on China for years. Now, after you have made your bed, you get to sleep in it. You have alienated all tourists but Indians and Chinese.
And as for the Western tourists? Not gonna happen either. Why? Quality Western tourists are declining here, in a big way, for a dozen very good reasons. You insulted us. You demeaned us. You accused us of being evil, and you accused us of being criminals. You mounted campaigns touting us as bad for the nation. You demonstrated deplorable amounts of racism and xenophobia, and fear of the outside world. Some of your officials even went as far as saying we prefer to have tourists that look more like us! And now you want us to come back? Really? How soon you forget. Sorry, but we have not forgotten what was done and said. Neither have the Chinese forgotten their ban. Not saying it was not the right thing to do. But, that does not necessarily make it less offensive to them.
What alot of tourists worldwide have forgotten is the nation named Thailand. There are too many alternatives now, and they are not only trying harder, they actually have competent people in charge! Surprise!
Couldn't agree more... people like Anutin do a lot of damage. Unfortunately there are a few like him

A few Governments have instated a wage or salary subsidy. New Zealand and Australia come to mind.
New Zealand have opted for an across the board weekly payment. While it doesn't fully compensate most employees, it does a lot for low income earners who are usually the most vulnerable in times of economic depression. The payment at present is $585 per week which is taxable, leaving the recipient with around $475.
It will be interesting to see how the Thai Government responds.
I have my theory, and I'm not voicing it here.

You were going well until you said "61 in 1 day" The figure of 61 is the total cases in ChonBuri since the start of this fiasco. Today's figure nationwide was 103, down for the 5th day in a row.
Thailand wouldn't have a clue on the true figure.
I'm not trying to denigrate the country in anyway but honestly... we know what they are like. No cohesive approach to law, statutes or regulations.
Different approaches between provinces and districts within each province. How can they know for sure.
103 New cases in a population of over 60 million... pffft.
