'Big Joke' Targets 'Outlaws' Gang Leaders in Pattaya
No sympathy, They should know very well and they have been here long enough that Human trafficking and drug trafficking are reserved occupations for Thais.

Pheu Thai will try to get its candidate selected as PM next Thursday
I honestly don't care if Winnie the Pooh or Paddington bear wins the vote for Prime minister. It's all a complete charade of which we have no say or power or influence.......... A bit like the voting Thai public! My life will not change one jot whilst this circus is ongoing or after it is finished. It will all be down to the number cruncher's in Bangkok as to who gets the biggest slice of the pie! The Thai public? They will moan and whinge but nothing will change and they will just get used to it like they always have done.

Pattaya cops cracking down on teen violence
They have a hell of a lot more Police at their disposal to patrol than countries in the West. It's just a very ' Thai way ' of doing things. They focus and crackdown on something for two months, then it goes on the back burner and other ' crackdowns ' take priority.

Intoxicated Russian Man Damaging Multiple Cars Stopped by Phuket Police Using Tasers
It's not the flying, it's the last six inches and the sudden stop that's the killer!

New Rayong Immigration requirement for retirement extensions based on 800k in the bank
Immigration in each region are just a law unto themselves and they translate the rules as they see them not as they are meant. In Kalasin they want the book to check back over a year and then the bank statements for the two months prior to the application plus the actual book updated to the day of application. They are all different in their ways at each immigration office and we just have to accept it once a year I suppose.

Has anybody had eye surgery in Chiang Mai?
I just had my eyes checked in Khon Kaen. I have cataracts on both eyes but the opthalmology lady said my vision is only reduced by 20% at the moment and it is too early to operate to remove the cataracts as they are slow developing. I am looking at Lens replacement but I have an appointment with a highly regarded UK specialist on September 12th. I am not looking at Lasik or anything like that, just to clarify. Listening to other posters on here, I may look at the Lens replacement and reading glasses route if that turns out to be the best option..

Phone scam: 400,000 baht stolen using face recognition and hacking, former Bangkok MP aids victim
I would have thought so for them to have garnered so much information accurately.

Phone scam: 400,000 baht stolen using face recognition and hacking, former Bangkok MP aids victim
So four star Generals now are doing card and bank fraud reports? My , I wonder who'll be awaiting me on my 90 day report! I mean, it wouldn't/couldn't just be for a photo op with a former asttractive MP? My sympathy to the lady, it's the lousy world we live in and another down side of technology that allows the cunning to dupe people. I hope she gets some justice and her cash back.

Breaking stereotypes: Thai students organise birthday surprise for black teacher
A birthday cake, wow! Well, I suppose it beats the old predictable one of finding 1,000,000 baht in the back of a taxi and returning it to its rightful owner, to get Thailand's ' image ' back.

Breaking stereotypes: Thai students organise birthday surprise for black teacher
It amazes me how so many feel they are so superior that they can look down on anybody. The child's mother who made such a racist attack referring to the teacher as a ' negro ' who should go back to the ' jungle ' shows what these kids are learning at home. Limited exposure through choice as they would rather look for online gaming, Thai soap operas and dating sites than discover the outside world. Many of them couldn't find Europe on the map with an Atlas. They are insulated in some kind of cuckooland and believe Thailand is the most wonderful place in the world and most of them don't help themselves in wishing to be educated. I have found Cambodian youngsters far more aware, keen to learn and progress and they have a far better grasp of languages, be the language English, French or Chinese, than Thais.

Tragic twist: Aussie teen’s suspicious death in Thailand fuels family’s heartfelt repatriation quest
I agree, However I was answering another poster. He seems to feel all Koh Tao deaths and rapes have been adequately explained away by the alleged ' authorities ' I don't think that would be his viewpoint if it was one of his family involved in one of these mishaps. Those were the headline words not my words as the poster implied. The results of why it is suspicious haven't been explained as yet and we need to watch and await the updates. By the way, it is suspect TO ME, as the family are not getting the answers as yet that they need. Judging on past performance and the history of Koh Tao, they have a right to be suspicious. I was going to say, ' I would be suspicious ' but I wouldn't because I would not allow my sons to travel there. I believe it is unsafe especially for the young and carefree. There have been too many rapes, murders, accidents and things too quickly resolved and brushed under the carpet by an inept police force, yet some on here try to justify the actions of the Thai police, even though they are known as one of the most corrupt police forces on the planet. I also firmly believe that there are two Burmese innocent men in Bang Kwang that were framed to suit the Thai police version of events and not damage their so called ' tourist image ' but that's another story.

Well of course it would be if its an international departure lounge as opposed to a domestic.

Tragic twist: Aussie teen’s suspicious death in Thailand fuels family’s heartfelt repatriation quest
The heartbroken family of a loving, larger-than-life Australian teenager is currently engaged in a poignant mission to repatriate his body after his suspicious death in Thailand. Quote from the OP and content from the OP

Tragic twist: Aussie teen’s suspicious death in Thailand fuels family’s heartfelt repatriation quest
That damned Koh Tao island yet again! Embassies need to be acting on this, far too many unexplained and suspicious deaths in that bloody place.

Bangkok student’s offensive gesture triggers backlash
And a few flowers makes it all ' alright ' This is the problem with Thais, the apology I am quite sure is forced and not genuine, it's the same with the wais and 500 baht fines for unruly and violent behaviour. Nothing mentioned about her friends mother who launched a filthy racist attack, or are we awaiting another ' bunch of flowers ' " It's easier to build strong children , than repair broken ones "

Family feud turns precious: Thai couple nabbed for assault and jewel heist from man’s own mother
This is what happens when the mothers bring them up ' wrapped in cotton wool ' then wonder what happened when they turn out filthy alcoholics and drug addicts that won't do a days work.

Family feud turns precious: Thai couple nabbed for assault and jewel heist from man’s own mother
Pure and complete filth. The son hits his own mother with a heavy pestle which could have killed her, then the scumbag D-I-L tries to stab her. What a family. Animals! and for what? total value 500 GBP for your mothers life!!

Kalasin Police officers suspended over drug-planting allegations and extortion claim
Yes, And I find them a lot worse in the actual main city itself or when they come from the main city under the guise of ' special group ' to outlying areas or amphurs. I used to nod and acknowledge them, these days I don't even look in their direction.

Overstaying American Arrested at Phuket Airport
Well, I don't think they are taking him back to a resort or hotel.

Overstaying American Arrested at Phuket Airport
It says international gate, so that takes away one posters question was it an internal flight. It was a waste of time going to the enclosed link as no further information of any merit is available there. Obviously must be more than meets the eye, it's a long time since I was in Phuket, but if they have allowed him to get all the way to the international departure gate, and not stopped him at immigration, have they discovered something more serious?

Overcharging Phuket Motorbike Taxi Driver Attacks Foreign Tourist
Not where we go, it's called my home! and I know my way around the UK to get value for money. And I wasn't particularly referring to the rip off prices, I was more talking about the surly attitude and aggression of the locals, with a complete lack of friendliness. Isaarn people are just not comfortable with it.

Overcharging Phuket Motorbike Taxi Driver Attacks Foreign Tourist
We are not in Australia, Germany, France or the USA. The overheads that the guys have to pay in those countries for insurance, fees, government charges, licenses are vastly different. That's without talking about extensive training, testing and driving to a higher standard than normal private drivers. So a guy gets physically aggressive because ' he decides ' en route to change an agreed ' Grab ' fare? you think that's OK? You see this where people like you become part of the problem by allowing these guys to run around unchecked. He gets away with it once or twice, Thai mentality, it becomes the ' normal ' and if you don't like the response from the customer, get violent. Nope, don't agree with you. So you book a hotel room, (one of the few things that are value for money in this country now) and their prices are sneaking up, and you agree prior that it is 1500 baht a night, but when you get there, they say they want 1700 baht a night, with no reason given? .................It's the same principle, ...........it is just the amounts that differ. I am in Cambodia and Vietnam regularly and when using these apps for transport, that behaviour does not happen and wouldn't be tolerated. If anything, Grab, Bolt, Passapp, has encouraged the tuk tuk drivers in Siem Reap to ' up their game! ' and get competitive. If he doesn't like the pay as a motorbike taxi, he needs to change his job, however, he probably won't be qualified to do anything else!

Overcharging Phuket Motorbike Taxi Driver Attacks Foreign Tourist
Agreed, But better not to go to there in the first place and give your tourist cash to a bunch of cheats and lowlifes. Also, what kind of holiday is it when you have to look over your shoulder, get ripped off by taxis and motorbike taxis as well as the age old scam of jet ski damage. The place isn't cheap to stay in either. I much prefer Cambodia and Vietnam for a holiday destination where the people are friendly and helpful. Phuket is just a toilet these days.

Overcharging Phuket Motorbike Taxi Driver Attacks Foreign Tourist
We know very well, there is a heavy dirty influence that oversees and looks after these motorcycles and taxi mafias and basically allows them to behave how they wish. I no longer go to the place and agree with others on the board that they are a nasty lot when they don't get their own way. They accept tourists for cash only and without the tourist cash element we are disliked and not wanted. They tolerate us for two or three weeks, and tolerate is the word. They have got away with this behavior for too long now and they won't change, they know the legal and police loopholes and ways of getting back in the good graces of the local BIB. My other half totally refuses to go. She will go to Bangkok, Rayong, Koh Chang, anywhere in Isaarn. She likes Bali, Cambodia, Vietnam, Europe etc but detests the Thai islands of Koh Tao and Phuket, and actually is not that keen on Samui but will suffer it for a few days if there is a few of us.

Not about Poundland tourism, its about the price quoted and price then asked for. The amount is immaterial and the more these guys get away with it, the more they will do it as the " norm " and it isn't right.
