Mask Wearing Rules to be Relaxed from Mid-June
MarcelV replied to Stocky's topic in Southern Thailand
Most of my students seem not to like the masks. I love the masks though, and always tell my students to wear them if I see their faces without. I will certainly keep wearing face masks in the years to come. I don't care what anyone thinks about it. -
Hajj Flights Hat Yai Airport - Organised Chaos
MarcelV replied to Stocky's topic in Southern Thailand
I know how crowded it can be. There are even direct international flights from Narathiwat Airport for Hajj. The only time of the year when aircraft fly anywhere else but Bangkok. -
Tak Bai Marine Police Attacked, 3 Injured
MarcelV replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
Absolutely. But how? I live in Narathiwat and people have given up hope long ago. After all these years, you learn to live with the violence. -

Covid 19 Extensions Extended Until July 25th
MarcelV replied to ubonjoe's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You all know I called this out. Now give me the respect I deserve. These extensions will continue until the emergency decree ends. Mark my words. -
I wish I could. But I can't add anything useful.
-
I know people in the top of society. Yes, all the way to the VERY top. They've assured me the extensions will be extended after May. If there's no one you can believe, then at least believe me.
-
The emergency decree is still in force. The General will keep it like that until the elections next year. Maybe by then they will also abolish the Covid extensions. Trust me. I know what I'm talking about.
-
Yes, and the extensions are expected to continue until further notice, probably at least until the end of the year.

-The driver must be the legal owner of the car. -The car has to be paid off completely. -The windshield cannot have a film of more than 40%. -The car must have Malaysian-style black stickers (with white characters) with the Thai license plate letters translated into Rumi (Latin) script. -Your local DLT office must provide you with an English sheet/leaflet of ownership. -Once having crossed the border, you must get a Malaysian car insurance policy asap. Either for one day or a whole year. These are the requirements on top of my head.

Are children getting a fair deal at Schools in Thailand?
MarcelV replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Changeing the Thai education system would take much more than two years. It's unrealistic to expect that to happen in a short "recess", which it really wasn't. I am saddened by the continuous negative comments about education and teachers in particular. The teachers have to do their jobs as they were taught themselves. To blame them for the system flaws is pointless. -
This thread is amusing, the OP seems to be a condescending *#@& and my years in this country have taught me no school would wanna hire someone like that anyway. Just my 2 cents.

Preparations under way for resumption of on-site classes on May 17th
MarcelV replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
As a teacher myself I am really happy to go back to in-person teaching. Yes, I got paid in full every month, but I'll gladly resume my normal teaching duties for more normality. -
Krathom Tea for sale on road heading south - but is it legal?
MarcelV replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
Here in Narathiwat everyone and their granny sells krathom from pick-up trucks on the main roads. I've never seen a police car anywhere close. -
If I were you, I would wait another year until the weather improves.

Thai government urged to brace for goods price spike in May
MarcelV replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As western farangs we can afford it. For me it's no biggie and I won't drink a glass less because of it. -
And so it ends. Don't say I didn't warn you, Captain.

Even Filipinos, Bhutanese and other low-wage NNES Asians need to sit the exams.
