  1. The curtain is gonna fall for MANY bars very soon. It's unavoidable.
  2. You clearly don't know what you're talking about bro. Have you ever been down south yourself? I have lived in one of those provinces for many years and most is fine and dandy. Don't believe the media. The muslims are nice and friendly and I got absolutely no beef with em, you know what I'm sayin?
  3. I fell in love with the country on my first visit in 2014. When the opportunity arose two years later to come live and teach in Thailand, despite some slight hesitation, I decided to jump on it. I've never regretted my decision ever since.
  4. Well, it doesn't hurt to keep trying. Only in the wallet it does. Just like your ferry, the flights to Betong's new airport haven't started yet and people are still waiting anxiously. Your route would draw many more customers though. Good luck. If everything fails, you could always opt out and sell the business.
  5. I live in the deep south of Wilayah Patani. Insh'Allah our schools may reopen on the 15th this month. I put my trust in God to keep our children safe.
  6. An SHA+ hotel in Yala? Really? I doubt you could fly from BKK to HDY at that time of night anyway. I hope you're kidding.
  7. In the Muslim Deep South, where I live, all schools are closed and will stay closed for months to come. Probably the entire school year. Too many pornohs to spread the virus and too few people who have been doubly vaxxed.
  8. Interesting topic. I'm following a similar path as the OP. But, as a subject teacher (other than English), I hope I can at least take the test in English and answer some actual questions about my subject, instead of taking a general test. But I guess not. Anyway, I'm on course to graduate in the second quarter of 2022 and my third waiver expires in October next year. Curious how everything is gonna work out.
  9. Our school will probably stay closed until April. Not just teachers and students, but also the community has to be at least 70 percent inoculated. We are still way, way from that goal.
  10. Just don't learn Thai. It is way too hard. I have been here for 26 years and can't even say hello in Thai, mate.
  11. It's all up to the government! No amount of begging by any 'president' of whatever organization is going to help speed that up.
  12. Schools in the muslim far south must stay closed until 1 January. It's doubtful there will even be online classes. As teachers we have all been furloughed. Thank you.;)
  13. My school in the deep south will open on Monday as well, I've been told.
  14. Well, I meant to say my school opens on Nov. 1. But since we are in a dark red zone, I figured this is true for other schools as well. My bad.
  15. I imagine it will be the latter. The Thai government is sick and tired of the lockdowns and is not gonna impose any more, not even with a rise in cases or different variants. They've finally come to the conclusion that people need money and will probably survive an infection anyway.
  16. All schools may reopen for onsite learning on November 1, is the latest news. Let's see if there's gonna be a wrench in the machine to throw off this schedule.
  17. Plenty of Malaysian families visit Hat Yai for the food, nearby beaches and shopping opportunities. The mongers mostly stay closer to home in Dannok, Betong or Sungai Kolok.
  18. Just give it up and RETIRE, Captain Steve Ponter. This saga will never end and is only going to cost you.
  19. Are the immigration offices supposed to be open today? We're planning on going there very soon.
