  1. Well, I live in the deep south and I can tell y'all that there ain't gonna be no opening here anytime soon fo sho.
  2. I'm just saying that doesn't take 10 minutes. Also, you should be careful when changing from very high temperatures to much lower ones. Once, the plexiglass of the speedometer cracked when I opened the AC full on right away. Oh, forgot to say to y'all, that car was a bloody Honda City. Same model that is in the OP's list of desired cars.
  3. Open the doors for fresh air for a minute, get in and open the AC for 2 minutes. You should be good to go.
  4. For that amount you could buy a new car of the same models. Edit: Never mind, you're looking for one.???? We have a Mazda 2 Sedan, bought last year and we're very content with it.
  5. Yes, I do agree that there's nothing better than face-to-face contact between teachers and students. Perhaps student fees should be reduced somewhat.
  6. Exactly. School fees are very high and experienced and qualified teachers make 250k+ a month, but we are worth it and money is accounted for. Furthermore, as a teacher I can send my kids here for FREE.
  7. I thank God you're not in charge of education. As a teacher I cannot wait to get back in front of the class.
  8. I teach at a very prestigious private school and we have been having online classes since May. I'm not worried about the school closing down for good. The school has been in business too long to forfeit. The fallout would be unthinkable.
  9. I have no idea. Whenever I go there, I go with my gf and we stay over on the far east side of the city, near the university area. I'm not a nightlife type, though I have been to The Swan Bar a few times. I believe that one's still there, but don't hold me accountable.
  10. There's much more to HY. In fact, there is hardly any nightlife left, even before Covid. All of it already moved down to Dannok (Sadao).
  11. Not the town of Sadao. It's the village of Dannok that used to draw cross-border tourists.
  12. As a teacher I can only hope and pray this set date turns out to be true. Can't see it happening for everyone though.
  13. My school is in the deep south and we have already been told we can forget about reopening anytime soon and as teachers we should prepare our classes until the end of the school year in April as the governor doesn't expect any on-site learning in our province in the near future.
  14. It's the same thing for me I extended my non-B visa on 30 July but cannot do the online notification. Next week I'mforced to make the 70 km trip (or send a copy of my passport by mail).
  15. On a motorbike it would be doable. I, however, tried it during rainy season in a Toyota Vios. In the dark.???? I managed to get the car stuck (i.e. the left wheels off the road) on my way to Pai, a few km from the military base right on the CNX-MHS border. A little further to the left and I wouldn't be here now. I'd still like to complete the ride one day on a dirt bike though.
  16. I wouldn't take the road between Pai and Wiang Haeng. It's very treacherous and in 2015 I almost died there.
  17. Muslim families are large - the women often have 5+ children - and the families often gather in huge groups. Furthermore, Muslims are very touchy feely and always shake hands, kiss each other's hands, press other's hands against their own face, etc. Many Muslims aren't vaccinated either, further increasing the infection rate. It's very easy for the virus to spread in those conditions. I live in Narathiwat Province, so I try to take care of my health now more than I would elsewhere.
  18. It will be a colossal failure and help to push more farang-owned businesses into financial ruin. Only the most die-hard mongers will want to return under these conditions and no well-off tourists will. In the long run the only tourists left will be the usual cheap charlies from Australia and the UK. Crikey!
  19. Do any of you have an idea when the schools can reopen? Will it depend on the area/province of the country that you're in and/or the vaccination rate? I teach in one of the most severely affected provinces in the south, but I'm still hoping for a November 1 opening.
  20. Most of the increase in numbers can be attributed to the southern border provinces. Nobody gives a damn about those anyway. Next!
  21. I'm content enough to keep living here. I don't have anything worth going back for to my country of origin besides my mom plus a few friends.
