There was a YouTube Video from a Chinese Nurse (in Semi-hazmat) apparently sending her video out from Wuhan - this video was circulated on FaceBook.

I believed the video to be genuine, although the Translation from Chinese to English Subtitles is reported to have been highly flawed.

The English Subtitles would have us believe there are 70,000 cases of Coronavirus in Wuhan (as of 3-4 days ago when the video was released). There were a number of comments on the Video commenting on the incorrect translation and that 70,000 people in Wuhan had been tested for the Coranovirus, the actual number of cases was not discussed.

The video was somewhat alarmist, but even if true and there were 70,000 cases of Coronavirus the mortality rate is thus low (with only 135 deaths (world wide) at the time).

The actual Chinese mortality rate is 11%

Sky News claims Thailand’s Health Minister has admitted that they can not stop this.

Yesterday the PM said it was 100% under control.

The fact is that it is already too late for Thailand and the country will suffer huge from this.

The big question is now, is how Thais will react to this, when hospitals start to get overcrowded? Because there is a good chance Bangkok will become like Wuhan.

ITV interviewed a Brit in Wuhan and he reported that Wuhan residents are in isolation until April. He wants to return to his family, but only those with American passports are being evacuated. A Brit with dual US citizenship, used his American Passport to travel on an Wuhan evacuation flight to the USA. He will be held in isolation for 17 days.

Wuhan City now has the appearance of a ghost city.

A recent report on U.S. television stated that masks are not effective in preventing a virus. It said it could possibly be of some aid as a person is less likely to touch their nose or mouth with their virus carrying hands while wearing a mask.

Chinese Doctors are recommending disposable eye goggles.

Just weeks after the disease emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan, it has already infected more than 4,500 people and killed at least 106.

Thailand, the top destination for China’s holidaymakers, forecast that Chinese tourist numbers would fall by as much as 2 million this year from 11 million in 2019.

“If they close China, we will die,” complained Teerawat Buakaw, 33, who sells clothes at a Big C store popular with Chinese tourists in Bangkok, the world’s most-visited city because of its Chinese tourist numbers.

“All the shops around here will go. What will we do?”

China’s boom in outbound tourism has created a pattern of international travel unprecedented in human history and driven the growth of businesses to serve Chinese travelers around the world. From a trickle in the 1980s, Chinese tourist numbers grew to estimates of more than 160 million in 2019.

Coronavirus may have pulled the plug.

Maybe so, but I will be staying away from 7/11's and Family Marts in Central Pattaya, until this passes, because if you were to run into an infected Chinese person here, that's where it would be.  ????

According to the Wuhan Nurse on YouTube, there are 90,000 infections across China. There's a very high chance that infected Chinese tourist are arriving in Thailand.

Until this all shakes out, one way or another, I shall:

    1) Not get on the BTS

    2) Not go to CTW or Paragon or any other mall (Would have included IconSiam, but I've never been there anyway

    3) Prepare my food at home

    4) Restrict taxis to a minimum and avoid buses

    5) Not get on the MRT

    6) Limit my range to 2 or 3 km of home and the nearest Foodland and 7 Elevens

    7) Watch movies at home

    8 ) Read more books

    9) Finish the four articles I've been working on.

See you on the other side.
