  1. and here I am at the office - thanks for that 🙂
  2. Hi, I'm hoping someone who has returned to UK or has visited recently could give me some insight. I ll keep it as brief as i can. My Thai friend has a daughter who has been accepted by Leicester University and, naturally, my friend is delighted but he has reservations. He has read and heard a bit about sexual assaults by migrants who are swarming the country and has been warned by someone that England is close to civil war. He is very concerned for his daughter and has asked me about it all. The truth is I dont really know. I look on Youtube and some social media and there s a lot of hyperbole about muslim takeovers , invasions etc. but it's been a while since I was home and I cant give him a good answer. Could anyone give me a realitic idea on how safe it would be for a young lady living in Leicester in these times? Should he be concerned?
  3. I was 37 when I came to Thailand - same reasons, same age but I had no kids. 20 years later I have a family and enjoy my life here. Have to admit, I've used all my lucky stars over the years and I find that, ultimately, Ive swapped 1 set of problems for another. I think he will encounter difficulties, but all the very best of British luck to him.
  4. Used to enjoy Sizzler with the family but it s gone downhill in my opinion. Grissly steaks and over-priced. And they stopped doing the blue cheese sauce.
  5. The tak Bai incident occured during his regime. It s funny to think that, with that in mind, he s trying to broker peace. Especially considering no one was prosecuted for it and the statue of liitations have run down.
  6. Truly bizarre. I have this vision in my head of one guy with multiple personality disorder, and all his personalities (GG, the other GG, Bob, Colin, Elvis , maybe one or two more) are using this forum to meet up.
  7. how can you be scared of Winnie the Pooh 😆
  8. I worked at a government school a long time ago. An English guy who used to teach in the UK worked there and, by all accounts, was very popular. Unfortunately, one day, he made the mistake of correcting a Thai English teacher's bad English in front of a class. He was sacked the next day.
  9. I could tell you, but it wouldnt be a secret then 🙂
  10. But. he has a meeting with Naomi Campbell to attend. Busy helping thai ladies become super models!!
  11. Just before his "health crisis" .

  13. had a look on Booking.com and it looks pretty good. pretty inexpensive as well. Booked it for April - 5 nights. Thanks mate 🙂
  14. My wife makes a yam wunsen "boran" - a sort of old fashioned way to make it - goes extremely well with a cold beer on a Saturday night. Not unhealthy either.
  15. err - doesnt he work for the Chidchop family??
  16. my beard grows in patches - leaving "Gobi Desert" like areas on my face so shave smooth every day. Part of my morning routine. my wife likes my smooth face and my cue ball noggin.
  17. My boy's not so much a boy now so he amuses himself outside of school with friends, girlfriend or boxing gym. I wake early on Saturday, make coffee and read the news. After a decent breakfast my wife and I go out somewhere- cinema, mall, anywhere as long as we can have lunch and enjoy a relaxed mooch around. Second hand bookshops are one of our favourite places. Really needn't be anywhere special. Home and Mrs. Nik makes a yum or a laab which we share with a couple of beers (dry January at the mo, so soda water). Not smoking now so I may drop a gummy and watch a movie or read, working my way through "The Iliad", while she does her art and craft stuff. Maybe even a bit of slow jazz. I'm 57 now. This is pretty much all I want or need on my day's off. Just don't have the inclination to go crazy like I used to. The simple things in life rock my world now.
  18. I always liked the Prayut regime's idea of spraying molasses in the air for the pollution molecules to adhere to. Brilliant 😄
  19. Are you particularly bored today?
  20. Hi, I’m planning a trip to Ko Chang in April with my family (3 adults) , we’ll also have a friend from UK with us. Does anybody have any recommendations for resorts. I’m looking at around 2000 b per night but can run to a little more. I’ve taken a few looks on some of the booking websites but wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere after first hand experience. Thank you in advance.
  21. Damn Colin, you sound just like Bob. 🙂 I'm curious though, you're in your 70's but feel the need to relate your conquests (real, potential or in your imagination) like a teenager with his mates. Why?
  22. Thaksin has already said that she should be back as early as Songkran '25.
  23. Not sure about meaning - I read a bit if that counts - but I concentrate on maintaining a healthy work / play balance.
