  1. Seems the problem got much worse since I used to frequent these places many years ago. In my time I would see about 3 to 4 of those in an evening. They are controlled by some mafia who in turn pay the police from the proceeds. There used to be an even worse mafia who would amputate pieces of bodies to increase the 'pitty' factor of trafficked children.
  2. I'm sure this act is enforced in the same diligent way that traffic laws are enforced in Thailand:)
  3. This is bogus. There must be a clear contract and payment plan set out from the beginning. How many payments in total and what amount to be paid. The payment plan should be clear and fixed amount for every payment until the total amount is paid, where after the property will be in your company's possession. Of course that would be illegal in Thailand as foreigners are not allowed to own property through proxy companies, that is why this contract could never exist.
  4. We switched to salt chlorination a couple of years ago. Never regretted the move, everything works perfectly, because we use a pool maintenance contractor who weekly adjust pH and cleans the system. With salt chlorination, it is very important to add acid to control pH, because the chlorine generation byproduct OH is very high in pH, thus increasing pH constantly. The usual acids used for swimming pools are Muraiatic Acid and Sodium Bisulfate. These can be found in generic pool products such as acidBlue. My recommendation is you hire a competent pool maintenance company. "3 Consulted pool companies came up with different solutions..": The only solution is to decrease the pH and keep it constant at around 7.4 to 7.6. The three different companies most likely offered different ways to achieve this end result.
  5. I got all papers on the spot. nothing sent to me by mail. mail in our area doesn't work anyway.
  6. That is confirmation, definitely a coup coming in the upcoming month. because the previous coup is old already, we need a new fresh coup.
  7. I was driving around in the surrounding area of BKK yesterday, most areas are already on the brink of flooding (meaning water is almost level with road surfaces almost everywhere i drove). It was raining continuously all day yesterday. As Noru nears Vietnam I think widespread flooding will occur everywhere.
  8. Just some interesting mortality statistics, I note that in 10 years, Road injuries went from third to tenth place. Rabies is not even on the list. Source: https://www.healthdata.org/thailand Another surprise to me is the stroke thing.
  9. If it's the same people who get bitten every year, the math changes dramatically:)
  10. Maybe a bad choice of words. What I meant; A device that is supplied with a fixed voltage and fixed alternating current frequency. The device then converts the frequency into a variable frequency in order to control the speed of a motor. Sometimes the device also can control the output voltage to the motor in order to provide higher torque at lower speeds and so on, there are many variants and methods. The reason they are used is to provide a more efficient use of the motor. i.e. saves energy. I do not know why the term 'inverter' has been so popularized, The term is nonsensical, because simply inverting a current or voltage that is A/C is nonsensical.
  11. I don't know what to think of this guy. Something is definitely wrong with him. Seeking out stationary cars caught in traffic jams. Sure, some are real pricks that he catches. Apart from the home invasion aspect (the inside of a car is private space as I understand it and can only be pursued by law enforcers). Let me put it this way, Let's say scientist found out that picking your nose while driving increases reaction time by 110%, Then a law was passed making it illegal. How many people would he be able to catch in the act daily? Anyway, he needs to find another hobby pretty soon, with self driving cars on the horizon:)
  12. Unfortunately, In most homes and public facilities nowadays, there are frequency converters integrated in many electrical appliances, such as air conditioners, refrigerator, water heaters, LED lighting. These have a deliberate small leakage current towards earth, which renders GFCI useless. You could of course put these appliances on separate power system, but that renders the whole idea about GCFI pointless.
  13. Just another Thai mafia organization. This one wearing their brown uniform openly.
  14. I get those calls all the time (I have a Thai number). Usually I answer and then just lay the phone down and let it run out by itself. Most of the time it's a recorded message that blabs away about some stupid stuff. But my wife tells me there are actually Thai people that fall for it in the news. Then I get the occasional call with someone asking for my name in a very British accent, I just tell them it's not me, wrong number etc. That is always about investing in some retirement fund or something.
  15. Well, the fact that they didn't have any toilets in the opening of the airport speaks a lot about how that project was carried out. When the first layouts was published, the first thing I noted was: where the f***k are the toilets? And then they spent years upon years correcting various construction and planning/design problems, including adding toilets.
  16. Been traveling in and out of Swampy, never ever ever happened to me. Strange. Maybe a recent phenomena? I haven't been through Swampy for last couple of years. By the way, for those who react on the name Swampy, we who have been here since before knows:), it refers to the fact it used to be a snake infested swamp before the airport was built there:)

    True vs 3BB

Just don't go to this site very often these days:)

    True vs 3BB

Well, it boils down to the definition of trouble v; how do one say 'www'? Do you say 'we we we'? or is it, like the Thai say it, 'Woorl Wiiee Weeeb'? Some say 'we dot', or is it 'Triple double v'? So that is where 'trouble v' comes from. The right side of the statement is, I have to admit, a bit murky. Yes, I know w is pronounced double u, which is strange in itself. It should have been double v all along, someone long ago indeed had a muddled mind.

    True vs 3BB

I've been curious about other providers than True. I have been using True for many years. It works but speed dropps dramatically the further you get from Thailand. Sometimes using a vpn in some neighboring country (i.e. Singapore) makes the speed better for just about anything, I'm not talking about latency, that would of course increase by distance, but streaming speed. I tried vpn on vpn, example using a vpn in Singapore connecting to a vpn in the USA to watch some show, but apparently most vpn services does not allow this because security concerns. Anyway, I have True home network with the whole package, TV, internet with fiber, a couple of phone numbers, 5G. It works but never lives up to the promised internet speeds when surfing outside Thailand. 5G is working ok, but sometimes randomly shuts down for a minute or so during the day.
  20. When I visit the Beaches I go to those with almost no "Farang" visitors. The beach is usually crowded to the brink with Thais by late afternoon and cars parked everywhere. Almost all Thai's around us drink alcohol. Then by evening you have to be very careful when driving back home, as all Thai drivers from the beach seem to drive like zombies, slowly and in flocks.
