I took my girlfriend there a few years ago and I think she did get a visa on arrival. I think it was free (or pretty cheap) mine was about 25USD, I am British

Those pesky kids.

I apologise if this has already been asked and answered.
Are there any restrictions with regards to liquids in hand luggage on TG flights departing BKK to any Asian destinations.
Is that you Osama?

Business as usual on Friday and Saturday night in Bangkok. Just depends where you go. A quiet night in the one pub that you happened to go to on one night does not mean that Thailand "is down".
-
OK that sounds like the way forward then, cheers Thai Spy!!

I know I should know this sort of thing after living in BKK for years
but.... what is the quickest way to get from Prakanong area on Sukhumvit to the new airport at around 5pm on a weekday?
I am considering jumping straight into a cab outside Sukhumvit 67 and getting onto the expressway just after Prakanong Soi 71 (Is this possible? I have never actually seen an entrance to the expressway there??) and then following the expressway all the way to the airport.
Is this the best idea? Will this be the fastest way to go at 5pm on a weekday? I would be willing to try an alternative such as using a motorbike or skytrain for part of the journey to avoid traffic if this helps.
I am unable to leave my house any earlier than 5pm and the plane leaves at 8pm....
Thanks

i lived for a year on koh chang. i left because it is such a sketchy place. the police there are more corrupt than i have encountered anywhere else in thailand outside of pattaya. i think a lot goes on there that doesn't get reported.
I also lived there for about a year and I gotta agree that it is kinda sketchy. There are a few gangs of Thai guys that roam around the beaches looking for trouble every night much to the entertainment of the local police.

Excuse the poor Thai, but this is a "play on words" kind of Thai joke...
Q. Puu chai kon Thai chawp haad arai mak tii sut?
A. Haad sa ee (Sounds like "hee sa at" jumbled up)

Yes, it is your gender that is important and not the gender of the person with whom you are speaking.

In the 80's there used to be a 10 pound note that if you folded it right looked as if the Queen was giving a BJ.
Lesse Majeste. Off to the Tower with you!!

Looks crap to me, I prefer the old one, this looks more like a euro.
Anyway, why can't we have some fit Briton on our notes like Catherine Zeta Jones and not that old munter?

May the force be with you.

The bag contained over 15,000 Baht, 150 Pounds, eyeglasses, a diamond ring, a gold necklace worth 500 Pounds, her husband’s wallet containing over 7,000 Baht, a Master Card, and a Sony Camera.
What?!! No kitchen sink?!

My favourite is the humble toasted sandwich. Chuck in some onions, salami slices and plenty of cheese. Fantastic post-pub snack.

Are those "Het Hom" in Thai? If so they make your breath stink...Nice tho.
-
Agreed, it may be difficult to introduce roundabouts here but U-turns are an absolute death trap and should be abolished on main roads like Sukhumvit etc.
-
Still think you'll look a bit of a plonker on the SkyTrain though, how about an Elephant Gun to go with it?
Somone I know quite well who lives in Bangkok (a regular poster in Thaivisa as it happens) likes to wear the complete Bombay/colonial style outfit when he is "lording it" around the city. He even wears it to the office on "dress down days"!! I'm sure that he will be extremely interested in this thread as I think he lost his pith helmet recently. Each to their own I suppose...

Dubai roads are very dangerous. Extremely fast driving. Also Vietnam has some truely terrifying roads. Most roads in Thailand are pretty bad too. Rayong town has some bad areas.

Great suggestions t.s. agreed 100% ( for a change
)
However, regards the Bayoke recomendations made by other posters, I gotta say Bayoke restaurant is skank. Horrible food, overpriced and nasty decor, the only redeeming factor is the view.

It will come as a big surprise to you, but, most restaurants in the US are NOT fast food restaurants.
As far as becoming obese, just eat a lot of bangers and mash and fish and chips.
Haha!! The irony. I love it.

Bangkok. True internet. Youtube not working all day.

I just bought one from Ekko on Ekkamai. Pretty big, faux leather, cost just over a grand I think. But I have seen some similar smaller ones in Tesco Lotus for about 300 baht.
