Why would a local school bus be operating at 1AM on a saturday night hauling children who appear fatigued and depressed?

Ok, so you know "several poor children." There are millions of poor children in Issan, some more poor than the ones you personally know. Did it occur to you that maybe just because you know "several" children who have flatscreen TV's, that this example doesn't invalidate the fact that brutal working conditions exist for isaan children?

You have no idea what you are talking about, so you must be either a troll or in need of some help. OK please provide proof of who these children are, where are they working, and what kind of brutal conditions you are referring to. Also how did you manage to identify them, and see that they were sleepy from inside a moving bus at 1am in the morning. You are totally bonkers.

I believe the Thai, government through  immigration should take in account when retires stay here, if they own condos ,are married and live in house they built for there wife/girlfriend , with the high fluctuations of currencies' , over the last few year , I have seen my dollar value go from 33 to 23 baht to the dollar ,I am in a better position, than many , but I  could see how some of my country men , would have a major problem staying with there families here . And faced with being kicked out ,don't report , thus become illegals , manly because there income from there pensions have dropped below the required amount  ,and they have had to dip into there bank account . and then the single ones ,can no longer show 65,000 baht a month ,even though they live in there own condo ,and have no debts at all. As most have sold there assets in Australia , to retire here , they have nothing to go back to. There only choice is to sell there condo , and put the money in a bank account ,earning nothing , and rent a property , which lowers there standard of living , to be fair , the Thai government should take this into account , before kicking people out because there income ,and pension has fallen through no fault of there own.

It comes under the heading of planning for the future, the Thai government cannot take into consideration immigrants financial situations.

The scooter i have is an Extreme 420, it was imported from the USA, not by me.

Three years ago i saw a member on here advertise it, he was selling it on behalf of a Thai lady, who had been left it by an American who had it imported, sadly he died days after it arrived, and i purchased it.

Prakonchai Nick, went to Naklua, and did the deal, Jip99 went and collected it, and brought it here for me.

I never heard of that model i suppose with it being from the USA, the scooters i used to sell were mainly from Taiwan, called the Shoprider, really good machines. Not sure what size your tyres are but did you know you can get puncture proof tyres?

for isaan michael.........your confused emoji means that you do not know sarcasm ,

unless i am confused and you are agreeing with the OP. which i don't think you do since you

    like lumentums post.

i just didn't have the inclination to try to answer the ops rant.   easy to see he will not be swayed.

I think i was confused by your comments on my marriage being a marriage of comfort, and that as a retiree i was somehow relying on lads??? i did not understand your comments and assumptions. I have been over here 20 years, i am deliriously happily married to a Thai, i ran a business with her fo most of the time and i am now retired living in the north. I have never had a problem with any of the rules/laws i have to abide by, and think the so called crackdown on illegals is great. Hope that clarifies what i am saying.

You are right of course, but so does every bar, restaurant, hotel, shop, or any other business. In the UK we love tourists coming to see the sites, question is do we want them staying?

  6. I have looked at most of the comments and as usual there is a lot of silly and unhelpful points being made. Nobody knows the full storey yet and the real details, but i would make  a couple of observations.

The damage to the car is to the RHS so the victim was either on the RHS collecting rubbish from the central verge, or in the middle of the road.

Also an impact alone with a car does not tear a body into bits, so the body must have been forced under the car and ripped to bits as it travelled along, even at 70KPH that would do some serious damage to a body with a low slung car.

"The vast majority of Thai's will look at you like you have 2 heads, like you are some kind of idiot."

As do Western "atheists" who fail to see, when it is suggested to them, the extent to which they have internalised and subliminated certain Christian beliefs (as opposed to Christian morality) and made them a fundamental (but unrecognised/unacknowleged) part of their "independent" world view.

Greeks, Romans, Christians.........without them no Western Civilisation.

Without them.......Thailand and the rest of the "East".

Christian morality, so "they" own it now!

  8. Reincarnation is real, after my Father died a few months later i had a reading with a medium, the message was that he could not stand the sex and violence in his new life, evidently he was now a rabbit on Salisbury plain.

My Thai wife recently borrowed some money for an exorcism, and she is now worried that if she can't pay it back she could be re-possessed.

  9. If you stay in NKP in the evening they do a boat trip down the Mekong with food and drink, very reasonable priced, and for 2 hours. Also on the outskirts is the old house of Ho Che Min which is worth a look he stayed there for some years. Near his house is a restaurant by a lake that sells great food including fresh prawns, nice location. There is a small golf course near the University very cheap.

  10. I was in Buriram once waiting for a bus to BKK with 2 girls, i saw a BKK taxi and flagged him down, he agreed to take us to Sukhumvit road. We got as far as Nakhon Ratchasima stopped for gas, an when he got back from paying, gave me the keys and said here you drive. I drove all the way back to about to just north of BKK and he told me to stop, he took over and when we were near Sukhumvit, stopped the car told us to get out and left us in the middle of the expressway in a fork in the road. Another taxi picked us up and we finally got there.

i don't condone the guy killing his wife obviously but at the same time it must have been really hard to take that after at least 35 years i assume (their daughters age) that he was to be left alone aged 77.

and who knows what his mental state and health may have been like at 77.

no excuse but with his anger, fear and then probably hatred consuming him and with what would seem nothing much to lose he decided to do the worst thing possible

I think you will find he was 68, his wife was 77.
