  1. One good thing is there are no lunatic mini bus drivers, coach drivers and cement truck drivers on the roads, apart from the Virus Phuket is a very nice place now, its brought the relocation to another part of Thailand back in my thoughts once the Virus has fuffed off!

    200/250 liter is rarely seen.

If you find, the starting price will be about 2000 Baht.

Most small tanks start at 500 liter for about 3000 Baht.

That's for the most primitive blue tanks (without any inside coating).

A 150 Watt water pump is not that cheap.

    Starting at about 5000 Baht.

Prices in fancy home stores in Phuket probably higher.

Thanks mate, I've no idea about the tanks but will go have look at 500ltr, also look at pumps, thanks again.

  3. Can anyone give me an approx cost for an outside water tank plus pump, small house, need a decent shower which is impossible lately as virtually no pressure out of the shower, I'm assuming it's the water company trying to save water, tank doesn't need to be huge maybe 200/250ltrs.

WorldAtlas has the figure of death at scene as 25,000. But we are still behind Libya, and kicking out all the old farangs will not improve our score. Help is on the way, the increase of speed limits on dual carriageways from 90km to 120km/hr is a move in the right direction.

Speed limit don't make us all laugh, you can drive as fast as you want here anyway as no one cares, increasing the speed limit will only cause more deaths in lawless Thailand!

On my last trip to Thailand we drove down to Hua Hin.  Somewhere past the Phetchaburi border I noticed some Policemen waiting on the side roads to the left.  And then I realised they were on every single road and entry points.  This continued all the way down to the Palace.  There must have been over 200 police involved - I started counting after a while and got to 100 and stopped. The wife said one of the Royal family was probably going to come down the road later that day - and they would shut down all entry points when they leave Bangkok.  I then asked what do they all do for the rest of the month, year, decade - because we never see more than the occasional 1 or 2 when we were out and about - and we were out and about in the car a lot.  She smiled - no comment.

If the work to put these dummy cars in place is done by the polcie, this would be the most they have ever contributed to attempting to police the drivers of Thailand and make the rodas safer.  These were first used in Japan many years ago and they worked - worth a try IMO - at least it is doing something.

It's just another exercise to make people think the powers to be care which of course they don't, it's no different to the big signs that say "100% motorbike helmet wear" with a nice picture of 2 people smiling, the cardboard car will also be ignored and I'm betting will be destroyed by speeding drunken drivers within a week or simply set alight or stolen!!

  6. We can all moan and complain constantly but at some point you have to realise that nothing will ever change here, death on the roads is accepted, the police do not know how to deal with the law breakers, every day I see red light jumpers, non crash helmet wearers, , speeders wrong way driving the list goes on, the police are not interested other than playing on there phones, look after number 1 here no one is interested about road safety!!

Note..if you should have an accident Thai people will be at your side instantly and help you, when I had my bad accident at a u turn(the road was seemingly deserted) within seconds Thai's and police were there, they were great!!!

He admitted to going over 80kph, what got me was them sitting in front of me sharing out the 13000bht, even though I feel it was his fault( they definitely switched riders as there is no way he could have been injury free, the Uncle walked in behind the lad sporting leg injuries, yes I feel lucky also as if he had died I think I would be in prison or deported because I couldn't pay the millions it would have cost!

My police friend was talking to the group and the lad who told him of his speed(obviously didn't know or couldn't care what the speed limit was, police friend did nothing other than negotiate the payout.

You did a U-Turn and got hit by a lad going straight on.

There is no way of proving the other motorcyclist was speeding.

It's difficult to see how the Law in any Western Country would side with you.

How much money did causing the accident cost you?

If the 'cost' was excessive, you may well have been taken advantage of. But, if medical costs, repair costs were covered but not much more you may well have received fair treatment - not entirely fair in your eyes, but fair to someone impartial.

You may well have been treated unfairly, or your version of events is an example of 'bias' in your own favor and perhaps something we may all be guilty of from time to time when not wishing to accept blame for a mistake we have made.

Glad you are 99% better, those U-Turns are lethal.

Has anyone ever been sent MonkeyHouse for a small Tip to a Thai Police man or IO ? Don't they have TIP Jars labelled as such on their desks anymore ?

(My Thai lawyer a few years back met me at the Phuket Court house to sort out child documents for my Parent/Guardian visa), when I explained I was having problems with my Permit extension, he instructed my in techniques on how to tip an IO, including cash in envelopes in newspapers to be left on IO's desks...) !

Good job you haven't named the lawyer, never would I try and bribe any official here, I'm sure any honest official would be very upset at an attempt to bribe them.

  10. Could not believe my eyes at the blatant improvement of his lie, did it once to remove the sand from the right side of his ball then did the same on the left side, I don't understand why one of the top players in the world would do this, lost any respect I had for him as a player and no doubt he has lost respect from other pro's.

seems you one of the lucky ones, i went down 2 weeks ago to do 90 days reporting at Phuket and the guy was a total arrogant dick, i have been here 15 years and doing it the same way but this time he was on a mission to be as unhelpful as possible even though i was quiet and calm and asked a specific question and he just waved me away, i sent my lawyer down over the next few days to do and as usual thai on thai no problems even though he kept pointing to something telling me this wrong .. no wonder i took Thai Elite and stay away from that place and these guys as much as possible i should have let TE do the reporting for me but as it was due i thought would just do myself...

Wow in 11 yrs I have never come across any arrogance from IO's 90 day report last week and again fast efficient and pleasant service, maybe you come across as arrogant which makes them retaliate!

    and you know how?

I got hit at a u turn by a lad on a moped going well over 80kph(he admitted this to the police) because he was travelling straight and I was turning it was my fault and I had to pay, this was in the early hours, at the police stn for meeting they obviously switched drivers as the supposed driver walked in injury free followed by uncle with injuries, they sat in front of me laughing and sharing out the money, I had extensive road rash plus a shoulder that after 2 yrs is now 99% better, my experience of how you get taken advantage of.

Could be at fault, could be shared fault, if the other driver was going way over the speed limit.

Speed limit, what speed limit? the majority of drivers here have 2 speeds fast and very fast, if she pulled out of side turning and got hit it's her fault end of, insurance will sort out providing they both have insurance!
