Saw a guy break heavily on a PCX the other day, nearly lost the bike as the front went side ways, Miracle he didn't hit oncoming traffic, NMax brakes with ABS are excellent and would have avoided this near miss, the fact the NMax has ABS should make it a first choice over the lesser PCX, just completed 8000 kms on mine, long trip up to Cha Am was great, the bike is great!! my opinion!!

Hi Guys! I just bought my Nmax this morning. Does any of you got a first class insurance? How much did you pay and what is the name of the company insuring you?
The Yamaha dealer gave me a quote of 16600thb for a first class insurance with Falcon... Really a joke since it is more than what I pay for my Kawasaki Versys 650 which is 3 times the value of an Nmax...
On top of the compulsory third party insurance Yamaha Dealer was offering a theft insurance (2000thb for 1 year, 2500thb for 2 years, 3000thb for 3 years) and an additional accident insurance 1700thb for 1 year for which he was not able to explain anything about...
If any of you got a descent second or first class insurance please let me know.
Thanks
Send aa insurance an email, they are very good and 1st class should only be a couple of thousand.

Chinese New Year is not a public/government holiday. The observance refers to some businesses may close or allow their staff time off. Immigration will be open as normal.
Excellent, I will go on Monday, cheers.
-
Monday is not a pubic holiday. Not sure if observance would mean the same as public holiday, guess I will go on Monday and see!
I read that some government offices etc treat observance as a public holiday, will see on Mondy.

I'm confused. You said you get the extra 300 days if you renew after it expires. Mine expires on the 15th and I want to renew about 7 days later.
If you renew after it expires and you are driving your bike you are driving illegally, should you have an accident it could be big trouble, do the right thing and renew up to 3 months before expiry!
-
No you can't legally renew after it expires for reasons that are obvious!!Thanks. I need to renew in a couple of weeks. Glad to know I can renew just after it expires.

Indeed it is I make a 10 hour trip each year to spend at least a week at Ao Manao beach (wing 5).
I've been thinking of a move to PKK for a while, Phuket is crazy busy with crazy drivers, PKK is the opposite, quiet with considerate drivers, Wing 5 beach is lovely.Stopped there for a few days a couple of times en route to Krabi. We stayed at a little guest house right on the sea front. Great seafood restaurant close by. Beautiful views. Could I live there? It is quiet for sure. Definitely worth a look.
Same here, I make the approx 10hr drive about 4 times a year, love the place, it also has the best Italian food I have had(Il Vino, just outside Wing 5 entrance) also great English breakfast at Twigs.

I have stayed at a place called Palmsweet(not far from the train station, you can hear the trains passing as it is about 50yds from the line, very nice, cooking area out the back, 500 per night but I'm sure she would give a better price for a long stay, or there is the treehouse resort, excellent place, 800 per night but includes use of the big pool and gym, lovely log cabins.Looking for somewhere in Prachuap town to stay for six weeks from the end of February until Songkran.
For my wife and young daughter to get out of the smog in Chiang Mai. Not too pricey, air-conditioning and cooking area. I will join for first week. They will have transport. Any ideas?

I plan a visit during March when my 90 Day will be due.
Where is the Pratchuab Immigration Office located ?
john
It's on the road to the Burma border, right hand side, passed it recently, someone else might know differently.
-
Most offices will do it 2 weeks early.
Cheers for that, will pop in on Monday.

Just a quick simple question, friend needs to extend his tourist visa by another 30 days, runs out on the 1st feb, how long before can he do the extension, thinking of going on Monday which is two weeks before the 60 day expiry, cheers.
-
I think they are good for unexperienced tourist riders but i wouldn't be caught dead on one.
Either bike rental shops buy them or aging expats.
I have never seen a Thai riding one.
I see a Thai man riding the Tricity everyday, even though he is small the bike and rider look very odd together, not one of Yamaha's best bikes.

"same same but different""plonker"
good one!
which I could come up with such witicisms.
is "right plonker" and "complete plonker" the same?
-
Got to be the weirdest looking scooter on sale here and it's true everyone looks a right plonker on it!......and it has the power of making everyone that drives one, look like a complete plonker.

And tell your thai lady to change her mind.. LOL.
She liked what she liked. Both good bikes no doubts.
He might be under the thumb!! Lol

Still not seen any NMAX's so that I could rent one and do a road test. However, I will report here that I often hang out at Mr. Greg's here in Naklua (formerly called Greg's Kitchen) and one of Greg's steady customers is an Iranian who rents motorbikes out. Ali's personal choice for getting around had been a PCX 150, but I recently learned that he has just acquired a Yamaha NMax. It belongs to a close friend or relative. Therefore I cannot rent it from Ali. But I did look him up at this shop. Ali told me emphatically: "The Yamaha NMAX totally outclasses the Honda PCX in nearly every aspect. THen he enumerated some of the reasons why the Yamaha is so superior such as 1. Anti lock brakes, 2. Superior handling, 3. Superior acceleration, and 4. Greater overall smoothness.
And looks better!
