  1. No need for a 'certificate of residence' for a retirement extension. But you need to be sure that your housemaster has register you with immigration. Unforumately the housemaster gets no receipt from Immigration unless the housemaster goes to Immigration to file your presense.

Catch 22 situation - I got caught up with this my last extension. My wife is the housemaster and we have an online registartion facility. I was sure I had registered myself on retuen from a holiday in Chiang Mai. But Immigration had nothing on their database other than the hotel where we stayed in CM. So we nipped downstairs and my wife made the registration.

If you have a slip of paper in your passport showing your current address then you are registered, don't understand when you say "immigration had nothing on there data base other than the hotel we stayed at in Chiang Mai" were you not registered before you went away? did you have a slip of paper in your passport? if you returned to the same address as registered why would you need to register again?
  2. Immigration officer: "Your Certificate of Residence is old".

Shot: "That's because my address hasn't changed".

IO: " But, it's old, look at the date. It says July last year".

Shot: "Yes, but, I thought they were valid for a year and my address hasn't changed".

IO: "It has 2015. This is 2016. It's old. You need a current Certificate of Residence with this month and years date on it".

    Shot: " Doh!".

Do you need a certificate of residence costing 300 bht or notification of your address as in your passport?

  3. I can't see why anyone would buy a PCX now. I'm sure Honda are busy designing a catch up model for next year. The nmax is the clear winner right now.

Because the PCX have bigger wheels?

What difference do the huge wheels on the PCX make? would much rather have slightly smaller wheels with bigger tires, 10,000 kms now on my NMAX and no problem having slightly smaller wheels!

  4. There's 3 bigger holes than the one in chalong at the new underpass

One's hidden in water, the other two when leaving the underpass on the bypass in the right lane. very deep

Too many holes on the roads in this country, the only way to avoid injury or worse is to drive at a sensible speed with 100% concentration, I've hit a hole myself and ended up crashing luckily for me it was at 4am so no cars etc were near me, I never drive in the dark now! I also try too never drive in the rain but if I have too I drive at reduced speed.

I hit a hole driving from BKK to here that was so bad it knocked the fender liner down into the wheel and caused quite a loud and frightening noise, not too mention damage.

Imagine a motorbike hitting the same hole!! it's not just holes it's also the unseen dips in the road, hit one of these recently on my CB (main highway from Surat Thani traveling North) doing approx 80kph lucky to stay in control!!

  5. Yes, they've covered the hole but a year ago instead of the hole we'd have been moaning about the flooding at this location. The work they've done does at least appear to have sorted this problem.

Would rather drive through a flood than hit a hole(no one drives fast through a flood here, yea right!!) yes the flooding has gone but the road surface problems have just begun, the surface is already breaking up and a sizable hole has appeared just past the lights.

  7. Just drove past TOT and the problem has been sorted by placing a huge slab of thick sheet metal over the top which In its self is dangerous to scooters(the problem was obviously known already) I don't feel the need to do anything else other than to post this update!!

seems like its more dangerous to cars than scooter as those sheets that they placed at the underpass in construction has been halting traffic completely for a few days

Maybe, what they have done is definitely better than hitting the hole.

  9. So if this stupid and very boring definition part of this topic is finally over, can we finally have some F'n fun on this topic?

Shot, you know the pressure for you to produce a funny image, is higher than ever. However I trust that you can deliver.

Are you not able to post a funny image yourself?? If you google "holes" I am sure there will be plenty to choose from.

  10. Lol give me a break, I can see the headlines now, "Farung run over by pick-up whilst trying to warn road users of a big hole" forum users would post "what the f*** was he doing in the road when the hole should have been dealt with by the authorities!! you now know about the hole could you please go there and do your duty or is that not your problem?

We are in the start of a journey. If you die while doing the right thing, there is no reason to care what some small minded people think. In fact you'll have no thoughs at all. Don't be too afraid to live the way you actually wish, even if would kill you. Otherwise you'll end up to be a bitter old man and we all know; thats no good.

Edit: Had to get rid of the smiley.

Are you going to the site to do your duty, yes or no?

  11. 20 posts and the thread has become a playground for inconsiderate I couldn't care less about other people and what happens to them as long as I am okay, shan't bother again!

The longer this topic floats on the top of the Phuket Forum's list of topics, the more people will see, read and be advised about it. It's simple as that.

What we should do? Complain how horrible Thai road maintenance is? Where it would lead to? Thank you for notifying other for the hole? Thanks btw.

Meanwhile some responsible Thai person has most likely stopped his/hers scooter/car to the side of the road. The person got out - even if it's dark and raining, went to fetch something to warn others not to drop to the hole while they are driving. This person notified the people who really required notification about the danger.

Meanwhile you notified few readers of Thaivisa. It's all good, but don't expect to be in the same league as the Thai who spend time, got wet at the actual site. That anonymous person, who did the hard work is the hero in this incident.

My teaching here is: Learn to notice at least some of the many kinds of little things people do everyday to make other people's lives easier. Yes, that kind of things happens all the time in this country. Even when there are nobody to see it.

Can we now give Shot a chance to put a funny image, he found from the internet to complete this discussion? Shot, pressure to show your skills is all yours now.

  12. Outside TOT south bound towards Wat Chalong, very deep hole has appeared at least a foot deep by maybe 2 foot wide, if you hit this on a scooter it's curtains, only saw it at the last second because the scooter in front swerved to miss it, slow down a lot before the lights!!

  13. It's been raining here in Phuket for the last 4/5 days constantly so playing golf is a risk at the high prices they charge, best value is Phuket country club (country course) very good test!

I hope the rain becomes somewhat more intermittent by the end of June!

Will proof of my residence in the kingdom get me a discount do you think at this club?

Google Phuket golf holidays, you will get cheaper green fees going through them, I don't know about discount showing a Thai driving license!

Just checked, 2400bht for 18 holes(9 hole twice) this is a great course, you will love it, not including caddy fee!

  14. Thanks Sheryl, your link describes what I have, it's slowly getting better!

I'm using Paracap at the moment is there something better you would recommend?

  15. I have bad pain in my jaw area, this side has been subject to jaw cracking after eating anything hard, before I venture to the hospital thought I would ask on here, can this be treated with anti biotics, it's not causing me difficulty it's just painful when moving my mouth side to side!

  17. Phuket country club (country course, 9 hole) is great and a very good test of golf, last time I played there was about 2 yrs ago and it was 2200 bht for 18 holes, caddy extra!

  18. yea, but that does not answer if we need it,

anyone have to fill it out IT YET?

Sorry I also asked " so I don't need to bother about it then" she laughed! She did mention about filling out a TM7 form, lost me there!
  19. Popped into immigration this morning to pick up the personal information form, waste of time!! volunteer laughed then laughed some more, " have you got the form" she laughed again and mumbled "they give us lots of forms, we not have"

  20. Do I need to fill out this form before my next 90 day report? do you need to fill out this form at every 90 day report or is one form enough to satisfy immigration? they want to know where I go, 7/11, freshmart, family mart, swimming pool, central, big C, many different street vendors, mom and pop store, toilet, is this form big enough?

  21. Now that the 90 day report has been simplified the queue should be much quicker, recently did mine and was very impressed with the immigration officer who came out from behind his desk and cleared the queue quickly by saying to people " 90 day reports" anyone that said yes was ushered inside and given a ticket, the queue was reduced very quickly, the volunteers should be doing this!

  22. Pattaya, 90 day report, 10 minutes, retirement, just did my renewal, 10 minutes again, back next day to pick up passport, 3 minutes.

    Good for you.

Although I'm not sure why you're sharing your Pattaya experiences on this Phuket forum topic.

If you're trying to make comparisons, you should be aware this topic was started more than 2 years ago when it was a nightmarish experience to get extensions here.

Things change, read about member's recent experiences for a better understanding.

2 years ago was a nightmarish experience getting extensions?? in the 7 years I have been here never had a nightmarish experience!!

Every extension I have done has been quickly processed, maybe it can change with the time of year, my extension is October!
