  1. Yes often as they want to see your visa. Pink card is accepted as ID in place of passport all the time but hotels are obligated to know your visa status. I've not been asked for my Passport in hotels in Thailand when checking in with the Pink ID. - Marriott, Hilton, The Standard are the most recent ones... This may also be because I was travelling with my Wife. As these hotels were in another province, I also had my passsport with me in my bag (just in case its needed). The last time I used my Pink ID was to withdraw a large amount of Cash from SCB Bank, and they pay it into Bangkok Bank (Banks were next door to each other - but charged a 200 baht trasfer fee - which IMO is cheeky - and SCB do not allow foreigners to transfer amounts above 50,000 baht using the SCB Easy App as they are not set up with NDID for forigners - transfers can be made of the foriegner signed a waver waving bank responsibility for any fraudulent transfers - which I wont sign...... Meanwhile, with the Pink ID I was able to set up NDID with Bangkok Bank - so can make large transfers and still have the fraud protection).
  2. Yet is still so widely accepted.... (I've been using it for years now).... I think Jayboys response below is fairly valid... No need to agonise over this and get into the technicalities of the wording etc...
  3. OP - a similar thing happened to me at first. When my Wife went (I was overseas working at the time) - the Amphur officers reply was 'cannot' that visa doesn't exist (when the Wife showed a photocopy my visa).... It was apparent that the Amphur officer simply did not want to go through the process. Once 'challenged' about the validity of the visa, the next 'hurdle' was an apointment, with availabilty in another two months... this was clearly another tactic to avoid the issue. The delay suited me as I was away at work, then would be overseas for Christmas etc so I was happy with the timing. On the day of the appointment, we turned up with required documents (including MFA certified translation of Embassy verified copy of my passport)... ... it was then I realised why the reluctance... its quite a lot of paper work and took well in excess of an hour of form filling - its a lot of work fro the amphur officer - this I think their standard go to is 'cannont'.. (which translated is "I dont really want to be doing this... candy crush is more fun" !!!!
  4. Rather a naïve comment – anyone with any reasonable exposure to Thailand already understands how much things can vary... Requirements and standards differ from region to region, amphur to amphur, office to office, and even officer to officer. All you've highlighted is that you naïvely paid 5,000 baht for something that is free (actually, the pink ID costs about 40 baht).
  5. Absolutely on point... I think this complaint (the Op) is the same as people who complain about bus gates without realising the pick-up / drop-off is right in front of Immigration, so there is less walking and it is often quicker. The only issue with bus gates is the 'heat' while you wait on a bus for others to board and the heat gets into the bus. And, of course, while walking up steps / down steps (in rain or / and very humid conditions to the bus itself).
  6. The magic words IF TRUE I've taken the train between the Main and Sateliite terminal numerous times now (in excess of 10 times)... 3 mins is not true... I think about 10mins is a more realistic assement of the time it takes... - Escalators down to lower AMP station level (~2 mins) - Waiting for the train (~3mins perhaps) - Train itself (~3 mins perhaps) - Escalators to main departures in Satelite terminal (~2 mins)
  7. Dubai Terminal 2 to Dubai Terminal 3 ???... Thats an awful system. It seems they use Dubai T2 for Fly Dubai routes for all the regional flights to 'armpits'... the bus between terminals takes about 25 mintues and is not a pleasant experience in the height of summer. (note - this is not the same as using the monorial between concourses A-B-C within T3 - which also takes additonal time, but thats becasue its a very large airport).
  8. Your assement is flawed... It takes no 'extra' time to get to the Satellite terminal. The flights I've been taking (Qatar Airways) have been using this terminal for about a year now. Once you pass immigration, you are in the 'centre' of the airport' an this is where the AMP (train) is located, so you have a very short distance to walk... In many cases, getting to your S-Gate is quicker than getting to the far reaches of the E-Gates (i.e. E10 etc)... This is the same congantive fallacy as using Bus Gates, as they are often closer and drop you closer to immigration than the long walk from some of the gates - you are in fact quicker. If you are at the far reaches of the S-Gates (i.e. S-101 or S-128) then you also have some distance to walk... the train adds perhaps 10 minutes. IF you are habitually cutting things that fine, you'd be close to missing flights numerous times already. Qatar Always already using this terminal... Perfectly convenient... It actaully takes less walking than getting to the gates used by Emirates (E-4 and E-6 usually). Because that would mean carring your baggage further and you'd then be complaining about that asking why not just have a single check-in terminal to make life more simple for passengers. Given your content - I think you'd complain whichever way this was worked out. Suvarnabumi Airport is a very good Airport, KLIA uses the same type of Satelite terminal, and also operates extremely well.
  9. Nope.. If you are making a post... any response I bother with will likely be in response or objection to the gallatic degree of idiocy you example in whatever comment you make. If your goal is to demonstrate the highest levels of absurdity in every comment you make, then congratulations - you’ve truly excelled. Rarely have I found myself so thoroughly opposed to someone’s views, post after post, without a single redeeming point in sight. Frankly, it leaves me questioning: are you genuinely this clueless without realising it, or are you just here to provoke reactions with each ludicrous statement? Either way, finding a sliver of sense or merit in anything you’ve ever posted would be nothing short of a miracle.
  10. For some of us the answer is definitely no. Agreed.... I'm sure you are not drink all the time, ergo some of your posting must be while sober, yet you prove my point quite nicely.... For you, the answer is most definately no... You don't need beer to be an ass.... you admit to driving like a pr!ck while sober too... I question whether that takes any beer !!!...
  11. Meanwhile, you think your drink driving is harmless. Who’s the hypocrite now? Just to ease your painfully simplistic mind, the couple of friends I helped? They don’t drink and drive anymore - one of them doesn’t even drink at all. But hey, as you took pleasure in highlighting.... “It’s only a matter of time before they kill someone” [with their drink driving]. Funny how you don’t apply that same logic to your own behavior. It really highlights just how lacking your intelligence is. “You keep repeating the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read or heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent responses have you been even close to anything that could be considered a rational or intelligent thought. Everyone on this forum is now just a little dumber for having read your comments"
  12. Better than deluding yourself into thinking you are upper class when you are really working class. Gaslighting - I've never mentioned anything of the class I would considermyself to be within or others would place me within. Meanwhile you mentioned that you are low class - not one person has contradicted you there !!
  13. Liar, if you cared about safety you would most definately not be boasting about dirivng while drunk...... you meantioned you drink 10-12 beers... So you drive after that amount then ? Be clear - are you driving after just two or three beers... OR, are you drinking the 10-12 and then pulling the wool over your own eyes that you can driver safely if you drive slowly ??
  14. Would you ?... knowing that your drink driving could cost someone else their lives or seriously injur them ?
  15. I agree.... Given my stance on this subject, it was hypocritical helping out a couple of friends who were caught out over limit.... ... But what to do eh ?... tell them to go and get flooked when they called ?... Nope... I'll settle for being a hypocrite in these situations... disgracefull indeed - I feel well and truly gaslit now !!!
  16. It is never happened. it is only happening in your imagination. It 'has' never happend 'yet'... it can happen any time... an accident can happen while sober, but is far more likely while you are drunk, and I'll also agree that an accident is more likely if you are speeding too... and especailly if you are speeding and drunk... As far a 'happenings within the imagiation' is concerned... it is your delusion you are OK to drive while quite drunk tht is 'happening'... the chances are you hitting someone while drink driving are fare higher than anyone else who driver normally sobre.... But, as you admited to driving like an utter t!t while sober, it maybe different for you... as it seems you drive less recklessly while sobre - the reality is, according to your comments you are a dangerous driver while both sober and drunk. You'll hurt someone one day, you're like a ticking time bomb... but at least you'll be in your own car and not hurt yourself and you'll be selfishly ok with that you'll propably brag that you were sensible enough to drink drive and not drink ride !!!
  17. Hillarious...... we have the perfect driver... even more perfect when drunk. Also a perfect example of the Dunning Kruger effect combined with outright stupidty & selfishness.
  18. I question whether that takes any beer !!!...
  19. Are you claiming now to be upper class Richard? Good luck with that. Self deluded hi-so wannabe. i am able to see the reality that I am not upper class along with 95% of other Brits and Thais. So I will just drink beer and have fun with them. While you can hang out with your imaginary friends. Now get back to work. You need the money. Nope.... I'm claiming that Thai's are smart enough to spot the dregs..... based on your comments, it seems they see you coming !!... At least you are honest, with your admiting to being a low class drunk driver... If you are drinking 10-12 or even 18 beers driving, we'll see you in the news soon enough.
  20. You are obviously a light drinker if you get drunk after 4 beers. A lightweight. Most sessions I drink 10- 12, and sometimes drink about 18 if a big night. It is proven that women get drunk with drinking less than men. It is a scientific fact. The breathalyzer bar is set at the lowest point, which would be a 45kg light drinking woman. You seem to conveniently forget this fact. You drink 10-12 beers sometimes 18 if a big night and then drive ?
  21. Fortunately, most Thai people have an acute sense of class and can gauge it instantly, just as anyone with insight and discernment can. Your own words here painfully illustrate why you believe Thais perceive you as low class. Without even meeting you, it’s evident from your comments alone. So, don’t drag others into your mire with the use of “we”. There are many contributors here who demonstrate a level of class far above the standards you exemplify.
  22. This is as dumb as the seatbelt or helmet argument - never used it, never needed it... The cognitive disconnect highlights a very simplistic stupidity. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and other agencies: Global Statistics: It's estimated that around 20-30% of all road traffic deaths worldwide involve alcohol. This varies significantly by region; in some areas, alcohol involvement may reach or exceed 50% of road fatalities. Annual Estimates: Globally, about 1.35 million people die each year due to road accidents. This means 270,000 to 405,000 deaths can be linked to drink-driving annually. Non-Fatal Injuries: The number of injuries related to alcohol-impaired driving is even higher. For every death, there are several injuries and instances of long-term disability. Globally, road accidents lead to around 50 million injuries annually, with a notable proportion related to alcohol use. Regional Variations: Countries with strict drink-driving laws and effective enforcement tend to have lower alcohol-related accident rates. In contrast, regions with limited law enforcement and higher alcohol consumption rates see significantly higher numbers. So... to answer your dumbed down, over simplified and idiotic response... There are between 270,000 to 405,000 names that could be mentioned to answer your question... those are just deaths... a lot more maimed. Your implication that because someone has not yet had a drink driving related accident means its safe, is simply moronic and outrageously deluded to the point of sheer idiocy.
  23. A good point... I've friends who can resolve these issues very simply.... (Police guys)... They've helped on a few occasions when a friend was over the limit and got caught. The joke is that I never ask them for help, they ask why I don't drink & drive, they can help if I have an issue... They don't get the point... its the Police I'm bothered about - its hurting someone cos I was an idiot and drove drunk that bothers me (no matter how carefully I thought I may drive).
  24. I think the silent majority have stated their point well enough. Results are in line with what I expected. Because you tailored the poll - and didn't leave an option for... ... having one or two drinks and remaining within the DUI limit and drive. So there was no option for the many who may have a beer or two and drive. Its a valid point - Do you think two cans of beer over an place you over the legal limit to drive ? Its an irrelevant point if you are having 4 beers as there is a greater certainty that someone will be over the limit. We used to get the Police Turning up to the Bars with breathalysers and we'd have a go.... I've also tried the 'gadget' breathalyser, but doubt how accurate they are (about +/- 10% error I'd guess)... All fairly moot if someone is driving after 4 or 6 beers consumed over a couple of hours - they are drunk over the limit and impaired. If a normal size male has had just 2 beer (330ml cans of Singha for example) its very unlikely they are over the legal limit or impaired.
  25. So you are admiting you 'could' have a minor collision (driving slowly as you do) and it will result in minor damage to your car... But what about the pedestrian or motorcyclist you hit ??? ... The collision may seem minor to you, but not to them..... Thats why you are selfish, you have not considered the others around you who may be impacted by your drunk driving.
