  1. It is this apathy that the police have picked up on, they're not interesting in pushing criminal charges against this guy if you can't be bothered to push for an outcome. Thus, if you want this outcome, then get a lawyer and push for it. This is not a case of 'Farang will always loose'.... This is currently a case of 'farang can't be bothered' so has no right to complain that he's loosing... If all the reports are in your favour, you clearly have a strong case, and then the Police may have to push for criminal action too. Or... its tail between the legs and give up... also fair enough if thats your preference, but then don't use this as an example of unfair treatment, because the one to blame for this is you - its the same if a Thai were hit, after the the medical bills, they'd get nothing unless they legally pushed further.
  2. But there is... you are posted your story and some readers have questions... such as 'exactly how firm was the 'contact' from your bag to the car' ?? and did you apologise immediately ? People are alluding to the point that it could be your attitude that allowed the situation to escalate from 'bag brush' to 'vehicular assault..... In much the same manner you reply here "No requirement to tell you anything"... Was your attitude at the time after the 'bag brush with the car... "No requirement to apologise for anything as people get their car knocked all the time".... (Just highlighting an example of how your attitude may have led to an escalation - you clearly feel the 'bag brushing his car' was nothing... but have avoided any detailed explanation of the extent or how hard the bag hit / brushed the car (and no - this in no way condones the drivers response). You are frustrated, rightly so, but are allowing your negative bias to exclude important facts. In the case of the 'Doctor kicker' the victim filed charges...... In your case, you have not filed any charges... thus you are part of the reason and have enabled the 'impunity' you so object to. ..
  3. Whats next... ... Swiss "Doctor Kicker" previously parked badly at a McDonalds where he also failed to eat his 6 chicken nuggets ? My point here is... OK, his is obviously a nasty character, but digging up old stories ??.. how do we even know this is true ?? I've watched the video <here>. and the van (or ambulance) its hard to tell, is making no effort to pass the car in front (Audi with red plates), the ambulance has no siren, no flashing lights etc... and when the Audi moves to the middle lane, the cam car (ambulance ?) remains behind the Audi and continues to film it rather than continue on with their 'emergency-journey' (which clearly is not an emergency)... the video also shows something sticking out of the drivers side window throughout... which could be the someone holding up the middle finger... which highlights that the driver is unhinged - but is this the same guy ? So... While I firmly believe what the Swiss man did (kicking the woman) is despicable and should be dealt with legally, in line with exactly how a Thai would be treated for the same actions.... I do not believe that digging up non-stories is fair, as this is defamation... The video doesn't show anyone blocking an ambulance, it just shows moving traffic.
  4. How about having enough understanding of communication not pigeon hole responses - each thread and comment is different... the similar question could also be asked... 'why the dumbed-down oversimplified one line replies' ??? The 'one liner' responses are more often than not argumentative and facetious than someone who has taken the time to engage and enter a debate or discussion with an intelligent response. Some topics or replies only warrant a short response, whereas others, often require some detail to avoid ambiguity and assumptions which can lead to further debates and arguments within a thread. Some of the best comments are often those which cover the argument and also avoid misunderstandings which others could use for contradiction.... a comment often requires some depth to fend off the fools who cherry-pick and are deliberately obtuse to cause debate over a minor and insignificant issue often completely ignoring the bigger picture or topic at hand.
  5. There is no info whatsoever... no name, no description of the incident etc... So, its impossible to tell what happened... usually by now we'd be debating all the contradictory and misleading information printed.
  6. Why are you always accusing people of making up stories ?.... in another thread you accused a poster of making up a story because within that story he quoted a starbucks coffee cost 100 baht.... Are you someone who makes up stories to get attention, so levy the same accusation at others ? Brit has a long posting history on here, there's no reason for him to make this up. He's also mentioned his motorcycle accident a number of times before over the past few months. Thus - the only trolling here is yous... perhaps take a step back and look at peoples posting history before calling them a liar ?
  7. He kicked her in the back and his wife threatened to kill her. He has a history of being a bastard: And she filed civil action... . What legal action have you taken Brit ???... have you instigated any legal action at all ??? OR, as I suspect, have you simply sat back and let everyone else get on with it... and as your medical bills etc are all covered the police consider the matter closed and can't be bothered to pursue criminal action because that takes effort, and why bother with that effort when no one is there pushing them.... ???? (i.e. you have not filed any legal complaint). Have you even gone as far as filing a police report / complaint against the driver BritMan ??? I suspect not, but that also means you have no right to say the police are treating you differently because you are a foreigner, the simple fact is, you are behaving differently because you are a foreigner and not filing any legal complaint - the cause of inaction is your own inaction.
  8. No... No actions justify the actions of the driver... But, we are reading one side... and reading 'attempted murder'... rather than 'tried to knock me off' etc... So... it would be interesting to learn exactly what it was that 'triggered the driver' into this murderous rage ? Was is really such a non-event as a plastic bag brushing harmlessly against the car ?? IF so, this guy really has to be taken off the roads as he will kill someone, there certainly needs to be a criminal record of his behavior.
  9. BritMan has for a long time posted with pride about how he doesn't integrate with anyone. He has as little to do with possible with Thai's... the only ones who are interested in him are those he pays to be interested in him. He admits to wanting nothing to do with other foreigners. A bit of a cheap-shot... Brit is clearly very literate, but has opinions that are hardly endearing to normal people but may be popular with single and bitter folks within the 'life sucks eco-chamber'... The ONLY reason the op has no influence in this issue is because he has not pressed for any influence - He perhaps lacks the funds to get a decent lawyer. - He perhaps knows no Thai friends who can push for a better police response. But, even without the above, he can push the police to do something if he so wishes, but the Op has admitted he's done nothing because he suspect the University lecturer is higher up on the 'socio-economic-status' scale than he is and thus continues to suspect he'll not receive fair treatment. The Op will use this example for the remainder of his days about how Farang's are worth nothing here, yet what he will conveniently forget to mention is his part in playing the roll of being worth nothing by not speaking up and pushing for action.
  10. Indeed... IF the 'brush of the bag' were so light, it would not have been noticed. So... the contact must have been significant enough to be noticed... then what ? Any discussion ? Or not even a hand up or a nod of apologiy which may have riled the driver ? Did something actually trigger the driver?... was it really as mild as a bag bushing the car or knocking the wing mirror out of place ? OR was it worse ? or... is the driver just a complete nut case. The way BritMan glosses over the 'contact' and the manner in which he suggests contact is a normal part of city driving, suggests the contact may have been greater than described and enough to anger the driver when no apology was forth comming. I drive all the time in Bangkok and no amount of contact is acceptable. I've had guys gently clip a wing mirror and they stop, look back and wai, or just put up a hand to apologise... Getting the car nudged, or nocked is most certainly not a daily thing (no in Bkk anyway). So... Question for BritMan - how hard did your bag knock the other car and did you stop and apologise, or make any sign to apologise ? (just trying to work out what triggered this 'stranger' into such a violent response).
  11. I think he's referring to we as in 'us'.... but not you... i.e. us Normal people who do not cause upset and offence at every turn... ... those of us capable of living normal lives without upsetting all the Thai's around us or for some reason being upset at them all the time...
  12. Feels like you're still glossing over the reason why this bloke went crazy. Two possibilities here. 1) The Dangling shopping bag glanced the car (mirror etc) and the car driver is a completely unhinged nutter. 2) Something in the dangling shopping back scratched the car, and the car driver is a completely unhinged nutter. Whichever way we look at it - chasing down someone and deliberately knocking them off their bike is vehicular assault - the BiB are very lazy in not pursuing this, just as they are lazy in not pursuing many crimes. BritMan is also being lazy in not ensuring further action is taken. Is something being glossed over as to why this bloke went crazy ?... Could be, could be more than just a shopping bag and a scratch to the car... but either way, the reaction is excessive and illegal.
  13. Which is why you end up making a thread about it and doing nothing else. Had this happened another way around. - Thai hits Thai - Farang hits Farang - Farang hits Thai Nothing would be done, if insurance is covering the costs of medical treatment... Why ? becasue nothing is ever done that takes 'additonal' effort and medical costs are being covered, so its all ok then in the eyes of the BiB until someone 'makes' them think otherwise or forces them to 'do their job'.... Thus: IF BritMan wanted any further action (or anyone in a similar situation), they have to engage a lawyer to file civil proceedings and encourage the BiB to file criminal proceedings. Going him then writing about it on a forum is going to do nothing. And... NO.. your story is 'inflated'... the 'university lecturer didn't try and kill you'.... But after you hit his car with bag he was angered and tried to retaliate by 'knocking you off your bike'.... You may want to call that attempted murder, but its closer to aggravated vehicular assault'... IF you wanted to, you can take this to court and file for further charges. But, its seems you don't want to, you'll just complain on here. And no... You've attempted to turn this into a race thing, but I don't think it is. This guy didn't target you because you are a foreigner, he simply targeted the 'person' on the bike who he thinks scratched his car...
  14. Its like walking into a bar that has too many ginger people...
  15. Its for those people who like dogs but live lifestyles that aren't conducive to dog ownership, or live in small apartments and the owners aren't selfish enough to also squeeze a dog in there, but they like dogs, so get to play with some at a dog-cafe. They have 'cat-cafe's to etc (the idea originates from Japan where there are lots of pet cafe's). These are also cleaner animals (had all the jabs and delouced etc) - so they are also good for kids to play with. Why a grumpy old man would be a dog cafe is somewhat beyond me.
  16. Memory disorder - is this the new brake failure??? “I shot him cos I have a memory disorder”… I wonder if every incident will soon be put down to memory erm mental disorders….
  17. So what do you do.........? 🤔 He's unable to answer that on a technicality - he has to mentally reach adulthood first...
  18. Abuse is instant loss of an argument. Thanks for proving me right. He hasn't proved you wright.... He's proved you are below the standard worthy of his conversation.....
  19. Along with numerous other factors, your standard of socio-phonetics is confirms quite the opposite...
  20. I think its important to know such people exist. Its important to know they are around us, its important to know they may be driving motorised vehicles which is also somewhat frightening. Its easy to slip into the assumption that all of those around us are not gallacticially idiotic - its good that we have such examples provided in this thread, so that we can learn to make allowances for others.
  21. What's that got to do with the topic? Thats kind of the issue... much like the rest of the topic, you'd need to be educated up to a certain standard to grasp the points you keep failing to comprehend.
  22. Indeed it was... there was far less scope of reaching a wider audience with an inanity of irrelevant comments about lengths of someone else's comment on a discussion forum...
  23. Given your comments on this thread thus far, I'm not sure you are qualified to evaluate that either...
  24. Agreed.... And also, those who'd state they prefer 'short posts' are not exactly the height of critical and intellectual thought to make any such poll worthy of critical evaluation anyway.... ... its like asking a bunch of juveniles if they prefer bubble-gum or beef-wellington... the results are not likely to be of of any intelligent use whatsoever.
  25. Only a fool would be as a bothered about it as you seem to be. Why would I bother ?... no one cares how much of a post you read, and we each read all of a post or part of a post as we see fit... Its not exactly something we get hung-up on... We leave that pathetic stuff for the simple minds of those unable to engage in discussion with the adults.
