  1. You've made it patently clear that you are significantly under-qualified to make such a statement !!!!!
  2. How do you dig a hole on the internet? World's dumbest saying. You don't know what a metaphor is ??? There a couple of quotes which you are adding a great deal of validity to... 1) “it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to talk and remove all doubt.” 2) "When you are dead you don't know you are dead, its only painful for others, they same apples for being stupid"
  3. Prove your own limitations ??... You are already doing a good enough job of that. If you don't want to read a post of more than two lines, thats entirely up to you.... You'll find that you be unable to assimilate the information and have an intelligent discussion in many of the threads.
  4. Nope... thats your take away from the topic because by your own admission you don't even scratch the surface of what someone is written if its beyond your attention span. You are not the target of people comments, no one cares if you read the full paragraph or not... It is clearly others who will engage in intelligent discussion that are the intendent reader of comments that aren't dumbed down and simplified into a dumbed down one liner.
  5. No, others are writing replies of any length that others read, but you and and a few of a similar mindset who lack the capacity to read more than a couple of lines, perhaps do not. As earlier mentioned, if you lack the ability or patience to do more than skim over a couple of lines of text the target audience is perhaps one of a higher mindset than those such as yourself.
  6. Perhaps, people with such a short attention span and incapable of reading no more than two lines don't have anything intelligent to offer either... ... just dumb links they don't understand because they also lack the attention span to read beyond the headline in those articles.
  7. It's quite remarkable that when someone with a posting history such as yours offers 'assurance' on on a fact your comment actually has the opposite impact and we know you are just making stuff up off the top of your head..... .... or.... did you get this information from watching Greys Anatomy, House or did the ex Surgeon tell you while at a secret bar... but you can't tell which bar it is cos's its secret and also where the Ex Special forces guys hang-out !!!
  8. Maybe he doesn't usually go to an overpriced place for coffee, but somewhere such as Amazon where you can get a coffee for 100 baht. Did you think of that? And he went into Starbucks with the victim because that was close by. But it's okay, @stoner and probably others have made the same unnecessary comment without thinking it through. Pattaya57 has accused another poster of telling a fake story, and he's basing accusation on a mistake. It's been proven that the quoted cost of coffee is correct, but common sense suggests if the only basis for someone suggesting a story is fake is the one extracted fact they disbelieves then that poster hardly clever enough to evaluate the truthfulness of someone else's post in the first place..... Someone how a troll has distracted the readers with an argument about the cost of a coffee - its just stupid.
  9. Those with more than a primary school standard education...
  10. Espresso (expresso crap) is nothing more than a strong coffee. Made from .... coffee beans. It's a method of brewing coffee using high water pressure and finely ground beans to make a small concentrated shot. Zillions of people prefer it to the often watery black liquid being offered. Never too old to learn something new. Those who are uneducated and 'stuck in their ways' will very rarely learn anything new. If someone states 'this expresso crap'... its clear they have no idea of the subject they are discussing while still expressing their bias - the certainly have no idea than the Espresso extraction method makes a richer deeper more textured and luxurious coffee.... The post highlights that quality is simply wasted on some... and no Starbucks is not quality, but to the unbiased, neither is it terrible (and an espresso shot can be had for 100 Baht).
  11. A guarantor is someone who'll take financial responsibility for payments on the vehcile if you default. How to find a guarantor - you'll need a Thai friends who trusts you. Its possible there are agents who may take you though this route, but I'd be very conscious of this as there has to be something in it for them. As far as credit cards are concerned - thats also a difficult issue. The best you may be able to achieve is a secured card i.e. its a credit card but the limit is less than you have placed in deposit - I dont know how this impacts your credit score though. To purchase a 3-4 Million baht car - you'll need anywhere from a 1.2 MB to 2.0 MB deposit. Best option to purchase a car worth 3-4 MB here... Build up an income history with regularly month Income (i.e. of 100,000 baht or more)... i.e. more than 6 months. Have a letter of contract from your company (highlighting employment / contract and rates / income). Approach a car dealership of the brand you are interested in - With a Work Permit, a 50% deposit, over 6 months of good income, a contract, then its possible a Thai finance company may take you on. Alternatively, instead of putting 2 MB down payment on a car, just buy a car for 2 MB and if it has to be a 'Euro-lux' brand choose one thats a few years old and has dropped a decent amount already, or get a Japanese car.
  12. Are you looking to rent or buy ??... The header of your question implies you want to rent, but your question about putting down 50% implies you want to buy. Thus: 1) A Toyota Fortuna on a per-month rental basis will cost you anywhere from about 35,000 to 55,000 per month - there are plenty of websites for that - A BMW 3 Series or X1 will set you back about 80,000 baht per month. 2) Purchasing a car - once you have worked and have 6 months statement (of payment into Thailand) you may quality for finance with a <40% downpayment on a car - the kicker here is that its likely you'll be asked for a Thai Guarantoor. 3) Hiring a Chauffeur - You could, but usually you provide the car and they drive it on agreed terms (hours) for about 14,000 to 30,000 baht per month - If you want a driver that also comes with there own car, you are perhaps looking at a privateer with whom you can make a long term agreement.
  13. .... Nuff said.....
  14. Those who aren't completely ignorant and more considerate in nature do care what others think, they care not to offend other with either their behavior or dress.... So, while you might be 'keen' on your security, you are also strong on your offensiveness if you are practicing what you preech.
  15. Or you are someone with the attention span of a gnat and the post was not intended for you but for those displaying better socio-phonetics.
  16. Some of us (myself included) type extremely quickly, thus longer replies may be normal as we are thinking and typing at the same time and filling half a page takes a matter of seconds. Conversely, there are others, perhaps many, who have a two second attention span and won't read posts longer than three lines - it usually these posters who end up with multiple posts which have to explain what was 'meant' in their previous two liner because they couldn't be bothered to make their comments clear.
  17. It happens very rarely here in Thailand, but sometimes we get that person who just decides, no... they don't like you and will make things difficult... It just happens and if you're the sort of person to roll through life without issues, then its more like them, with the issue and not you. - If I were the Op, just go back a different day and try to see a difference officer. or, - Ask to see someone more senior (although if a smaller office there is a risk they'll stick together on this issue). --------- Years back my Wife and I went to the local Amphur to officially sign our Marriage documents, But, the Amphur officer (female) was not in a good place, she was rude and basically refused to marry us, we asked for the Boss and she refused to get him, she refused to give us her name. It was very apparent that we were getting no where quickly, we simply went to another Amphur office and processed our Marriage Paperwork there and then within 10mins. Sometimes, people can just awkward buggerrs !!... in this case its a officer in their little fiefdom flexing what little power they have.
  18. In that case, check yer pipes for corrosion which could leading to engine failure OR... Never buy a car from Dolf - he doesn't know what preventative maintenance is !
  19. Agreed... I wonder how many of us are thinking...'I really should go and get this done'...
  20. I learned to drive in Bangkok before Google Maps etc... I think TomTom or Garmin came in at some point. Anyway... it was a steep learning curve, involved a lot of mistakes, often driving around randomly until I found an area I recognised or the sign heading somewhere I recognised... getting around was something I picked up fairly quickly and I now find I can navigate Bangkok better than most taxi drivers !!... (many of whom are often fairly recent arrivals). There is one thing I have always said about the Expressways in Bangkok.... I simply would not have bothered to live here without them. For the most part, they make the city navigable in a reasonable time frame and I have always chosen where I live so that its is close to a convenient expressway entrance / exit that quickly links up to all directions.
  21. These courier companies... in their Box Vans zipping up and down the highways... How many parcels per van... 100 ??? more 1000 ???.... fair guess is about 200 I think.... So... what are we talking ?... 10 expressway journeys per day per van... 50 baht extra per 200 parcels ?? Now think about..... nah, its too late isn't it... .... you wont be able to look at this critically and will instead let your emotions take control and try and point score...
  22. Correct, I wont admit that because I can't see a 5 baht increase to a tollway / express way fee impacting the mom & pop shop in any manner considered significant. And... as you point out, most deliveries are not made by motorbike... Well the individual ones are. (to the moobaan as you point out) Anything else that may encounter an expressway is 'depot-depot' and a 5 baht on an expressway charge is unnoticeable when considering the 100's and 1000's of items they carry and then variable fuel costs from one petrol station to another etc. So... you want to be spared 'long winded smug replies'.... don't write something so daft it places everyone else in the 'smug position' of being able to point out the intellectually flawed position of you scrambling to claim a moral high ground with your 'Im alright jack' comment....
  23. I think these are excellent for a good nights sleep... but I don't think they are something I would want to be taking habitually... I may have it wrong, but if taking regularly we may need a greater 'dose' to have the same affect... That said, I think if someone is open minded its a good option to have has a backup. Why ?... I think a lot of sleep problems may come from sleep problems ?... make sense ?... no, not yet, I'll explain. When someone has a sleep problem, that comes to the forefront of their mind when going to sleep, and this itself exacerbates the sleep problem, which may initially be mild, but is worsened with worry. I have this issue when I know I have to wake up earlier than usual, or need a solid nights sleep for something serious in the morning... almost as if my mind is getting stressed about the fact that the sleep I need is important, which adds a layer of 'sleep stress' thus preventing me from easily reaching slumber. Thus: IF someone has a 'Cannabis gummy' then there is less element of sleep stress... cos they know, if they don't get a good night sleep tonight, then tomorrow they can drop the gummy and have a good nights sleep - thus sleep becomes something not to be paranoid about and that in itself, may assist with sleep in the first place... i.e. the placebo effect of having something in the back-pocket to assure sleep.... (it just an idea, but this seems to work for me). BUT... what really works... plenty of exercise and not drinking - I find that when not drinking, after 3-4 days I start having a much better nights sleep and can drift off a lot more easily..... That said, I like Whisky... so that buggers that idea up !!!
  24. This is tragic though because it means rules and safety are secondary. Worse yet it enables the underclass to behave poorly as they may get compensated. Once again they get what they deserve. There was an article in the Bangkok Post a number of years back that highlighted that this attitude actually led to more accidents and cost the insurance industry more, because people are driving and riding around carelessly because the attitude "you can't take what I don't have" is prevalent - there are no financial consequences... .... That said - I've been driving here for a couple of decades and can't believe I haven't yet hit a motorcycle, yet daily they cut me up with seems like CM's... also very regularly, almost daily it seems that there is a motorcyclist who should be thanking me for hitting the breaks as they cut me up or drive straight towards me... ... Its like a game of chicken... on a narrow soi, motorcyclists ride directly towards me, passing the long line of traffic on their side of the road, forcing me to stop.... we're then at an impasse until they 'wiggle and manouvre' their bike out the way.... It sometimes makes driving 2mins down the soi to the end take 10mins as these bikes create obstacle after obstacle and seem not to care that they get in the way....
  25. Totally agree.... systems can be made far more efficient. I believe that process is underway with e-gates... that both Thai's and foreigners can use upon departure. The TM6 was also abolished... So... steps in the correct direction are being taken. With regards to specifically dealing with foreigners in Thailand, I for one would like to see some sort of Residence ID Card issue to those on long term Visas... Whereby its no longer required to carry a passport as ID and where we can 90 day report online (already) and apply for extensions of stay digitally without having to attend Immigration, where e-gates can be used for entry and exit etc. As you mentioned 4MyEgo - there is a lot of scope for improvement.
