  1. As the Op carries Thai nationality, we'd have to call it something else.. 'Other Thai Bashing' ??... or simply other people bashing... I don't actually think this is Thai bashing at all... Just an observation of how interactions here can take a twist... The accusation of 'Thai bashing' is thrown around too frequently, when really people are just making observations of differences and discussing them.
  2. Oh dear, a grammar policeman has arrived on the thread. As there is no direct correlation between Thai and English any spelling is correct as long as it sounds right. erm... I think he was adding an element of 'racism' to the suggested element of 'racism'... ... i.e. coon (and what that could infer).
  3. You could care less ?.... so this thopic is of some importance to you because there are things you could be caring less about ???
  4. You were very likely dealing with 'unintelligent people' who struggled to believe that a White-skinned people could actually be Thai... The 'does not compute' thoughts turned into a 'cannot' response, as is so common here.... thats all it really is, In Thailand, very often, when things such as this occur, what you see is actually the way it is... no reason to dig deeper into underlying racism etc... its just people who have no education or learning of the social airs and graces to dealing with people different to themselves.
  5. No . I use half the sachet of coffee for the first cup and use the second half of the sachet for the second cup Do yer under-crackers last 4 days before you wash em ??? - Right way / Reverse em / Inside-out / Inside-out reversed....
  6. Of course its based on race... They see a white skinned foreigner and assume you are not Thai, so call you Mister... its rather polite of them in fact.
  7. It beats... "you, you... Hey you Falang, you, you... want tuk-tuk ?".... while you are trying to cross the road and the tuk-tuk stops in front of you actually stopping you from crossing the road. I suspect the 'Mister' is an attempt to be respectful, if you read anything more into it than that, you're looking for a problem that doesn't exist.
  8. Has Bob Smith moved to the Philippines ???
  9. Op - ignore the above post - its rubbish. Agoda and Booking.com are probably your best and simplest option, especially via an App on the phone. The prices you see on both Apps (agoda and booking) are the price you will pay and usually no more expensive than going direct (and often cheaper).
  10. W.TF !!!!!..... Thats an absolute shocker !!.... Someone who's been a long time contributor to motorcycling threads... Not knowing the gent, I liked his posts, he brought value to the forum and I imagine also to those around him. Completely shocking news... RIP Kwasaki & deepest condolences to his family and those who knew him well.
  11. I've nearly killed myself in hotel showers here when they seem to design them with a form over function mentality and as soon a the floor is soapy its lethal... However, with shopping malls etc I've never had an issue, so I suspect its the footwear. The only issue I do have is with one style of shoes I have (OnRunning Cloud) - after about 1.5 years the rubber sole turns a little brittle and plasticy - then it gets slippy - its happened to a couple of pairs so I stopped buying them. I also have some dress shoes (with leather souls) used for 'fancy stuff' and they can be a little slippy in hotel lobbies. Could the Ops soles be getting a little plastcy due to environmental conditions here ?
  12. Contrary to what I wrote earlier... ... There are a couple of posters who provide no contribution to threads whatsoever, their repetitive and incessant 'Brit-bashing' is just destroys threads... So, I think I may put a couple of these uneducated, pathetic, yet irritating losers on ignore... I sometimes have a little fun getting into the fray with some verbal sparing - but outright bigotry is something I'm not interesting in dealing with...
  13. Now the Brits are telling Aussies about steaks? Stick to your macaroni and cheese. Aberdeen Angus.... What did you lot to ??... thieve some Wagyu jizz from Japan ... sounds about right.. Now.. if only the culture-less, crass, bigoted, philistines would get back to there VB and Witchetyy Grubs....
  14. No.... you are trolling with your anti-brit comments as you do on nearly every thread at every possible opportunity. Just like another poster known for such anti-brit comments, you can't help but let your negative bias get the better of you, the combination of your outright bigotry and boresome idiocy suck the oxygen right out of a thread with a toxicity only someone as nasty as you could muster... I'm quite certain that in reality you'd be a awful person to be around. If you made such negative comments about any other nation with such frequency you'd be labelled a toxic troll about those nations too....
  15. Because they're repeating a stereotype and generalisation. The reality is different... Females from Wealthy Thai backgrounds like anywhere have plenty of choice, and do date and marry men from from all cultures and races - That said, doing so may be less common for a couple of obvious reasons. - There are more Thai guys for Thai women to meet in Thailand . - There is family pressure to marry within their own culture. - Cultural understanding is easier. What distorts a lot of opinion is those basing their observations on financial disparity where a female is making a choice out of necessity rather than actual preference.
  16. Mileage varies and there is a whole spectrum of preferences and reasons for those preferences... This is definitely one of those subjects where we can shoe horn generalisations into a convenient pigeon-hole.... I know women from financially independent backgrounds who could be with wealthy Thai guys of their own age... they are with their foreign husband. Educated, financially independent Thai women are happy to meet someone of similar socio-economic status... of course, there are loads of Thai men to compete with - if a Westerner has game this is no issue - I know of many such relationships. When language & communication is difficult and cultural boundaries are less flexible I'd imagine a Thai female would prefer a Thai male, financial insecurity will then influence her decision to step outside of a comfort zone and perhaps ultimately find herself in a comfortable situation (or not).
  17. Your comment was lazy and misleading, as if you cooked your steak in salt, butter and cream.... What you meant to write was you cook your steak rare, with salt and butter and make a herb cream sauce to go with it... The Herb cream sauce in your link looks good. There's a steak reastaurant in Bangkok called Le Boeuf, the steak is served in a 'butter herb secret sauce' (which I'm sure is basically a butter herb cream sauce) - the sauce is excellent, the quality of beef not so excellent. I sometimes make a wine jus... but I'd never say 'cook it with 'wine'....
  18. I'm not so sure there are no 'Michelin star worthy restaurants' in Australia, in fact there are probably quite a few... Its just that Michelin has never had a presence in Australia, thats all - Australia has an alternative rating system which is perhaps more detailed and has less 'pomp and circumstance' I'll have to get the missus to have a go at that one... I don't think I can wait around for GR to open up !!!... Good food is simply good food - it doesn't need an award etc, *most of us can tell quality and enjoy it... No one expects a Michelin star restaurant to serve a burger, but a burger should still be bl00dy good to want to return to that restaurant. The world is evolving and we are *all getting more choice and there are more and more decent honest quality food outlets, *most of us are getter better at identifying quality. Yes *most, because many in this thread judge on bias and emotion rather than a genuine unadulterated opinion based on first hand experiences.
  19. Can't possibly be the best..... Don't you know that Khun LA's cooking is better than a Michelin star Chefs ????
  20. He'd probably call them 'slop'.... I can understand why Michelin doesn't public a guide for Australia, it doesn't want to mix with a bunch of bogans and drag down standards !!! Aus has the 'Chef Hat' award (scale 0-20)... It starts off at A$$ Hat... we can guess who's winning that award !!!!
  21. Only you could be so dense. Really? I can't be anymore dense (to use your choice of word) than the poster who, literally, claimed that Thailand was considering buying subs without engines! Now, who was that? Oh, yes, it was you. erm...
  22. How did it take them so long... There was another plane right next to it taking the photo...
  23. What type of hitch ? (square or ball type ?)... I assume you contacted the dealership already ??? One option is to look at this from another angle and see what cyclists do.. i.e. cycling carry racks - some of them are 'trailer hitch' racks.... companies such as Thule do these, they should be able to point you in the direction of where may be able to install the hitch itself.
  24. A one hour old post about an MG and Khun LA is not all over this like a cheap tent on a drag queen !!! Perhaps mention that your MG is an EV.... and he'll be here in a millisecond... If he's not busy mustering up some Michelin level scran that is !!!
  25. One of us is most definitely ignorant. From your link: Although there currently isn't a Michelin Guide down under,... There are no Michelin restaurants in Australia. You must have the reading age of a 5 year old...
