  1. Here's some pic/vid of the real back way to Wat Chan. No Harleys seen ???? For routes, I highly recomend the paper/plastic map "Mae Hongson Loop" from GT Rider, then cross reference it with Google maps. The downside of Google maps is you have to zoom in a lot to see the smaller roads & you lose context. The paper map is much better for the zoomed ot view. https://www.thegtrider.com/maps-of-thailand-laos-maps They have an enourmous amount of detail & they've all been riden so they are accurate. 20191116_103539.MOV
  2. Any bike in good working order will make it. The road has been improved a lot in the last few years.
  3. If you like to meet other bikers, Mae Sariang guest houses, Above the Sea & Riverside are both good & opposite each other. They seemed to be about the only happening places just before Christmess.
  4. The duty free shop in the bag claim area of Suvanibhumi was open when I went thru on 5th Nov.
  5. You get your information from Wikipedia ! Righty-o, That says all we need to know about you.
  6. There should be a 4th option in the poll. 4. The governments of the world will continue to make it a problem long after the dangers have been proved to be overblown.
  7. Feel free to roast me, but at least read/watch it first. https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/it-turns-out-if-you-doubted-covid-headlines-you-were-correct
  8. Anusarn Market seemed open but very quiet a couple weeks ago.
  9. If you plan on getting a vaccine passport, you should make sure that your passport details are entered into the system when you get your second shot. My Thai wife was initially given her Vaccine certificate without passport details, I sent her back immediately & they entered her passport into the system. The staff seemed unaware of this requirement, even though there is space on the form clearly labelled "Passport number".
  10. A month ago, at Don Muang I wrote my name & phone number in a book instead of scanning QR code. At check-in they wanted my negative PCR test. On arrival at CNX most people were scanning QR codes in the bag claim area but no enforcement.
  11. Omigod, Moronic Omicron. Fear is your only God !
  12. If you're talking about returning from overseas, then yes, PCR test on arrival. Effectively you have to stay in an ASQ hotel & wait for the result.
  13. Yes, vaccination & Neg covid test presented at check in at DMK. Most people were scanning a QR code at the entrance to the Airport, I stood there looking confused & they told me to scribble in a book instead.
  14. I recently arrived at CNX. There were lots of QR codes posted around the baggage area. Everything about the QR codes including announcements over the PA was in Thai. As I couldn't understand it I walked out the exit. The end.
  15. A bit of added info. I'm double vaxxed, only needed 1 day quarantine, so maybe thats why I didnt need to download Mor Chana App.
  16. No, I did not need any App. I'm double vaxxed, 1 day quarantine, maybe thats why. I'm due to travel DMK-CNX tomorrow, so maybe I'll need it then.
  17. Arrival at Swampy was very quick & well organised. Got off the plane, walked towards Immigration, big line up of spaced out chairs, sat down, girls came and gave the reams of paperwork a look thru & shuffled them into an order they liked, sent me on to Immigration, every single desk was manned, no que at all. They dont seem to care if you have COE or Thai Pass, I had COE. They went thru my paperwork again, stamped my passport (new type of stamp) & sent me to collect my bag. Picked up my bag and a bottle of duty free rum. Walked past 4 very bored looking customs people. Out the door to find a line of Hotel desks, got pointed to the right hotel guy who went thru my papers again. He put me in a pre paid taxi to my Hotel. At no time was I required to use a smartphone or download an App. There was free WiFi at BKK, but you need to sign in to it. I recommend you get a folder with clear plastic sleeves to put all your documents in. On your travels they will be checked multiple times, I think it would save a lot of juggling. Here's some added info on departing YVR with Air Canada & transiting Tokyo NRT with ANA. I had checked in online as per an email, when I got to the airport I found this was a waste of time unless you were Jananese traveling to Japan (my transit location). I was directed to a check in desk, very short que, few travelers, but very slow. When I got to the desk the agent went thru all my papers very carefully, referring to various websites to see what the requirments were for each country. After 30 mins I was issued with both boarding passes & bag checked straight to BKK. No line up at the security check point. At the gate Air Canada went thru everyones paperwork again. I saw a Filipino lady refused boarding because she didnt have a boarding pass for one of her later transit flights ! Arrival at NRT started out smoothly, they got transit passengers off the plane first. Went thru a standard security check to get to departure gate. Then it became very disorganised & confusing. Various ANA staff were giving conflicting information to passengers. The safe option seems to be to go to the gate staff as early as you can & present your documents again. They checked everything again, refering to the requirements of you destination. Some people got on the plane, with their boarding pass, without document check, ANA staff delayed the departure & came on board to check the docs of those people. Again, I recommend you organise your docs in a folder with clear plastic sleeves, so theyre easy to flip thru. None of the people who checked my docs had heaard of Thai Pass, they all asked for COE, I guess this will change as the passes start to get issued, i'm still waiting for mine. Choc Dee !
  18. I entered thru BKK Fri 5th Nov. I did not need my phone for any of the arrival procedure (which was very well organised). Free WiFi was available, it took a few taps to set it up, first you have to change the language, top right corner I think.
  19. I suggest he buys a cheap "smart phone", when he encounters someone that requires him to use it (immigration maybe) he just hands them the phone & tells them to sort it out.
  20. Is that the one specialising in old ladies dancing on the bar ?
  21. Just for reference, B5400 in BC, Canada.
  22. I cant recommend any specific brands or models. I have found the following shops very good for large power tools. From the NE corner of the moat, head away from the old town, Nana Screw on the left about 300m from the moat. Half way down Sri Poom Rd on the inside of the moat, another branch of Nana Screw. Heading away from the old town on Changpuak Rd, where it meets the super hiway turn right (walking, on the South side of the road) the first big hardware shop in the row.
