  1. What does this mean? Is that the current penalty for not filing? To the original query, I haven't filed for many years and I don't plan to restart because I now have a WP visa. I don't see the advantage of advertising and will continue to plead ignorance about having to file when I have no income if any agency comes knocking.
  2. Brave of them to come forward. I'd be embarrassed saying I payed 100k as well as telling the world I'm learning to box while pregnant.
  3. I'd love a study on this. Driving behaviour is so contrary to how they behave otherwise. My simplistic view is that they are anonymous in a vehicle and this is actually their true trait. Whereas when they are visible to others they fake courtesy.
  4. Agree. Russian on Russian dispute. Keep clear.
  5. Does anyone know where I can check to see if I have any outstanding? Is their an app for that?!
  6. Don't worry, the videos will flourish on Elons Twitter. Might even get a retweet from the man himself.
  7. Yeah it's a Z car ruined with nasty alloys and a bad colour scheme and an horrendous spoiler. It's far from luxury and far from a super car rofl. Not even expenaive. At 30 he should know better, 0% style, 100% prat.
  8. 100kg for £1m 🤔. He'd take forvever selling all that in 1g bags.
  9. Oh ok, Things are slightly different for you, most of us here aren't taxed based on citizenship. Most of us couldn't escape to our home country to be more tax efficient. No brainer for you, should the Thai tax man come knocking.
  10. Interesting to know what your home country is. My home country would try and tax the hell out of my ww income I believe.
  11. If its just equities, Schwab has ample tools and dashboards. It's when it gets complicated then the only real answer is a spreadsheet to collate everything together. Luckily, xls does have some data feeds to populate a lot of the data. I use investing app a lot too. Don't they say don't look daily at your portfolio anyway?
  12. Unclear, but the best bet surely at this time. I do know I can officially bring money in now without fear of owing any tax, that is reason enough and for me and the main reason. 50k is nothing for that peace of mind. The 10 year multiple entry etc etc is just a bonus (and cheaper). There are other ways to move world wide income around to avoid the CRS/FACTA reporting back to Thailand if it ever got to that, that's got to be better than uprooting to another country for me.
  13. Alas we are not all the same, but are indeed in the same boat. Most I'd wager are on year on year Non-O/Non-B visas, or now on 6+6 month DTV visas. Some maybe juggling (or forging) documentation, some blocking out funds that they need or even borrowing funds, having to do border runs or spending hours in front of IOs each year who are now faced with potential tax bills on top of that. Judging from other threads, I've seen great delight in calling out those those that have paid for an easy ride and privileges that may now be taken away. For example, the elite visa is practically a dirty admission now on the forums, which I find funny, because all the elite visa holders I know are perfectly content, because they are (ahem), rich and don't care.
  14. I'd very much like to ask them and tell them directly, but alas I think my query wouldn't reach the right level, even if there is a level that knows. The BOI, I'm sure your aware, reports directly to the Ministry office, so we have to assume that the TRD wouldn't be allowed to overrule/interfere any directive/incentive from the BOI/Ministry. It's pretty clear that the BOI created this incentive to promote direct investment, as such the TRD shouldn't be able to interfere with it.
  15. Fellow LTR friends. What's your thoughts on the global income tax and the LTR visa? It seems on other threads, most assume the LTR visa tax exempt wont extend to cover the new proposed global income tax (I personally think they is an element of jealousy and like to see failure). I (lazily) engaged a lawyer to do my LTR WP and I asked him recently, he said they wouldn't even consider to try and tax you after making it a central pillar of this visa type being tax free. He also said it makes no sense to allow incoming funds to be free of tax, yet still try and tax the same money a different way, it will defeat the purpose entirely. He also said the tax on global income and/or money remitted regardless of year earnt was squarely aimed at Thais anyway. Wondering what LTR visa holders think or have heard?
  16. It's misdirection. He's sweating bullets.
  17. It's only a marketing ploy to get you through the door and apply for free. (Just as the LTR Visa does). It's not trying to solve the unsolvable issue the TAT has, that's It's been totally undercut by the LTR and DTV visas, because it can't.
  18. Well as he can't even be paid to go to phuket, he'd never know who's there.
  19. Only a few months ago I tried to get a residence certificate only to told my registered address was some hotel I'd stayed in months ago put of province. Had to go to the main IO to update. Where I got told off for not doing it on my return. A real pain. This was Phuket.
  20. Spend 5 minutes in Phuket you'll see advertisements in CN or RU exclusively for condos and villas. And the same types of adverts have been in English for years. I think the netizens are living under a rock. There wouldn't be the Bangkok skyline we see today if only Thais bought property there.
  21. Pretty much sums it up. Feel sorry for the western guy (who hasn't got a British accent), that Chinese lady is a crazy loon. Probably rhe F word was used and as usual it's taken out of context of its intended use.
  22. A whole lot of nothing. Seemed the gaggle of Thai girls wouldn't let it go and a few Katoeys in their for good measure to mix it up. And jesus that's a knife! Get him off the streets, he's a liability the little urchin.
  23. Your missing a lot. The same reason folk get plumbers, electricians, maids, car washers, etc etc. To make your life easier. If your one of the lucky ones where IOs dont make your whole experience like a visit to a blind dentist for a tooth extraction, then ok, but to most us, the experience is worthy of getting someone else to do it.
  24. The more trips they force you to make, the more likely you are to use an agent. Easier for them, easier for their bank accounts. This is how it works. I sucumbed to this arrangement a few years ago and my agent doesnt even ask me for many docs that used to be demanded. It's a rip, but I'll live longer.
  25. Start to accumulate chores that need to be done in the week prior to arrival, then carefully spread them out during the duration of Yai's visit. I'll do lunches and dinners, but my chore list gets in the way of anything else. It's an unsaid agreement, everyone's happy.
