This raises the question why THAI AIRWAYS is still distributing TM6 cards during their inbound flights.....
-
I returned from Europe last Monday and filled in a TM6 arrival card during the flight. I handed it over to the I/O together with my passport, and she simply took the TM6 card away. I'm therefore not worrying at all.

Chiang Mai - Is Sriphat a private hospital?
paddyfield7 replied to JimmyJ's topic in Health and Medicine
Sriphat is considered to be the hospital outlet of the Chiang Mai University. Most doctors practising there are professors or lectors at Chiang Mai University. This is why it may take some time to get an appointment with a specific doctor. But they are specialists in many fields, such as e.g. Ophthalmology, and considered very competent. -
Shipping household goods from USA - LCL shipment
paddyfield7 replied to Jason Green's topic in General Topics
I would contact one of the big globally active forwarderers, such as https://www.dbschenker.com/th-en or https://th.kuehne-nagel.com/. They have offices in Thailand including the port of Laem Chabang where your consignment would probably arrive and be cleared. When it comes to customs duty, the other member's statement quote negotiate duty (with no receipt) are Baht 22,000. unquote probably is the best solution (you know what "no receipt" means), and guarantees that nothing is opened, checked or touched. THB 22,000 are roughly US$ 650.00. -
It is correct that you don't need any Covid-19 certificate of vaccination to enter or exit neither Switzerland nor Thailand at present. I will be travelling there on 22nd June myself, and despite knowing nothing is required at this time, I feel more comfortable to travel with some vaccination evidence. I have therefore applied for the yellow WHO Covid-19 certificate of vaccination which in my case was issued by the Chiang Mai Provincial Public Health Office. You need to fill in a form there, provide copy of vaccination certificate from the hospital where you have been vaccinated, show your passport, and pay THB 100. It takes a few days until you can collect your yellow WHO pass, which is nice to carry just in case the rules change on short notice.

TM30 and Re Entry Permit
paddyfield7 replied to Bruce1054's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I will leave for Europe in a few weeks, and my agent just confirmed last week that when you are living in the province of Chiang Mai, you still need to do a new TM30 each time you return from abroad, even if you return to the same address as previously reported. My address is unchanged for almost 7 years now, and I still do a TM30 each and every time I return from outside Thailand. This may not apply any more to many or most other Thai provinces, but for CNX it does. -
It is correct that some western countries do charge a visitor's tax, usually built in in the hotel rate. What this philistine does not know nor understand is that you get a precious countervalue for it, such as perfect public transport systems, often free local transportation, safety in traffic in general and on pedestrian crossings in particular. And to start a discussion about a city tax in Bangkok exactly at the same moment as Thailand considers a THB 300 visitor's tax says it all.....

We flew from Chiang Mai via Bangkok to Phuket last Sunday, and absolutely nothing was required or checked. Just boarding pass compared with Passport or ID.

Need to change flight with Thai Airways online
paddyfield7 replied to rudi49jr's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I made the same experience: you can retrieve and review your booking, but not change it on-line. Whenever I needed to modify a booking, I called Thai Airways' call center under 02 356 1111, and they take the calls usually within around 5 minutes. -

New 90 Days Reporting Not Working.

Correct. I did it likewise yesterday and got my 90 days report confirmed within hours. -
HomePro in Sansai has a nice bicycle corner, selling but also repairing bikes, as they have some mechanics. They are familiar with Shimano components.

It is one thing that this lout evades his responsibility. What's even worse is that his parents don't take their responsibilities seriously and can't teach their spoiled son what it means to be grown up and full of character. Giving a 20-year-old a Ferrari is probably the stupidest thing parents can do, and they disqualify themselves. And if that is Thailand's highest society, then good night .....

I have provisionally booked and in particular clarified that they qualify as an SHA+ hotel. Believe me, I will not travel if things get worse.

I used the Novotel Suvarnabhumi many times in previous, better years, as it's location is so convenient. I will fly to Europe in June 2022 and have again booked the Novotel Suvarnabhumi upon return, this time for the "test & go"-method. I booked by eMail, and got a prompt confirmation. A bit expensive, but overall very easy.

I did my antibodytest just last Wednesday here at Bangkok Hospital, Chiang Mai, but they will certainly also offer this service in their Bangkok Head Office. They take your blood, waiting time for the test result was 1.5 hours, and the costs were THB 1,100.00. I got a printout of my test result.

Vaccination Passport
paddyfield7 replied to Shannoblic's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
In Chiang Mai, it costs 50 Baht as well, but only cash, takes 5 days waiting time, no picture. -
Every year since I arrived in Thailand in 2013, it has been announced that farmers who start fires and drivers of vehicles that emit black smoke will be "ruthlessly" pursued - what is easier to determine who owns the land which is on fire, or to take a smoking vehicle off the road? It's all hot air, and probably Thailand's biggest contribution to global warming.

It is amazing that this phenomenon is unique to Thailand, but in some areas they are just ahead - or maybe not?
