All I can say............ IS...... 'You have a great way of 'shooting your own foot'.......
You don't seem to have a 'clue' as to WHY those girls are in those bars doing what they are doing........ I know you don't care but I will try to help 'enlighten You'.........
#1 This is Thailand (Think: - Poverty)
#2 These girls came from Poverty and got very little schooling.... Even 7-11 don't want them...... But a neighbor girl tells them "come work in Pattaya (or Phukhet) and make big money" (EVEN MORE than 7-11)
#3 These bars and girls are there to make money in a 'Povertish' country (Thailand) and have a number of customers daily who benefit them by spending money and paying for their pleasures ------ BUT then they have a few customers (cheap Charlies) daily who come in and want the same 'Great' treatment as those 'spenders' who will pay for their pleasures.........
IT MAY TAKE SOME FOLKS LONGER TO 'GET THE PICTURE'...... but work on it and soon you will have the clear picture............
A good example might be: Buy the chepest airplane ticket and then try to 'sneak' up into a 'FIRST CLASS' seat............ ( I know a lot of these farangs in Thailand ---- Taking advantage of Thailands 'poverty')..................
BUT...... as they say around the BARs......... "UP TO YOU".........
Its not the girls making money from your drinks its the beer bar owner, unless of course you buy the girl a drink.
So if i owned a sports bar and you came in and bought a drink that profit goes to me not my staff, unless you bought them a drink in which they get a commission so i cannot understand your relevance to thai girls and getting out of poverty by buying more drinks in a sports bar,....but as the bar owner you would be helping me “get out of poverty” by buying more of MY drinks, good to know theres guys like you around to help out bar owners.

Of course your right its not the staffs fault as they have been told and i noticed one bar where there was a farang owner who watched his staff do this and i counted 3 people including me in the bar.
its not a good way to do business ,in the long term you lose.

I know beer bars are quiet but my pet peeve of the week ,well last night actually was going into bars and constantly being asked if i want another drink.
i know,i know beer bars profit is through us customers drinking ,but at least let me finish the drink.!!
I went to 5 bars last night and 3 of them were that pushy i left,
the other 2 you could relax in and drink to your hearts content and they were busy with customers and nice atmosphere with farang owners talking to customers .
But those 3 I went to that were pushy even taking the bottle from my hand and shaking it to see if its empty, and when i refused another drink, she came back every 2 minutes to ask the same question i just said i am out of here,i just cant drink that much that quick,i apologise
Look i know they probably get farang customers who sit in a bar on one drink all night and watch the world go by or even farang customers who buy one drink and talk to the owner for hours but im sure they must know it gets annoying to be asked every few mimutes if i want another drink.
Now is this just me or do u ever e xperience it too,?
I told my workmate who is on holiday with me and he claims he never has them ask him?
maybe im going mad ? even i got a bit firm with the lady waitress last night saying NO loudly as I only had this drink 5 minutes but she still kept coming back to shake the bottle.
i even had a nightmare last night where i could hear their voices” you want another drink darling? You want another drink “
ummm no thanks im still holding this one that i bought off you 3 minutes ago

Well my mothers cancer was metsasis cancer according to the death certificate ,my Dad had Stomach cancer
-
The reason im asking this in the pattaya forum because i want to know if there is any blood testing clinics someone can reccomend.
Now im getting in my late middle age im a bit worried about Cancer as both my parents got it and one of them got it without symptoms until the last minute and of course by then it had spread and nothing they could do.
then i heard a old workmate has now cancer that has spread after he went to the Doctor for a back pain.,he had no symptoms previously apparently now he has weeks to live.
The next question is,is there a specific blood test for cancer that i should get?

Yes, it happens, some stores do allow stealing. 2 ways it can happen - you buy something worth 62 baht, you pay with a 1000 baht note but you are handed 38 baht of change, as if you paid with 100 note. More common is just adding few hundred to your bill. It is always same stores through the years, and in some stores it never happens, so it can`t be just a clerk trying to it once, it is management as well. But it rarely happens, and it has never even once happened in Bangkok. It has never been an honest error in my experience since I have never been giving more change. Several years the same clerk tried it few times in one week, and every time she became very upset when I smiled and showed her the change in my hand and asked what is this, so just stopped going to that store.
Your right, i had a guy called Alain once tell me about that but he was from corsica so it happens everywhere not just Pattaya, can happen in arsenal or scotland ,must admit it was my first time so i guess im a Winner ,

Had a work friend meet me in Pattaya yesterday, I was going to say where he is originally from but I guess its not politically correct to say that nowadays.
he is a nice guy ,still has his broad accent from his Country ,english speaking country
BUt....he is embarrassingly cheap......last night we went shopping at the markets he stood his ground on this poor lady haggling over 100baht.
this morning the same he wouldnt budge at a market stall .
These were both ladies at these stalls and i really really felt bad for them,
im sure they couldnt afford to go as low as he wanted but they ended up relenting,he has a loud type of accent and at times i had to interpret ....in English....to the thai lady market stall holder what he was saying.
this morning i felt bad about his haggling and told him numerous times before he came to my room( has the room next to mine) and told me to “ grow a pair”
now i work with the guy so i cant fight with him but then he told me “ thats why i have no money because i dont haggle etc”
my questin to you guys is ,is there a time and place to haggle?
Eg, surely if you see a elderly lady would it be ethical to haggle?
do u feel guilty about haggling?
Is there a polite way to do it?
I will give you an example of my friends haggling when he was trying to buy a phone recently ,
the salesman said he couldnt do that price because it the phone cost him 4500 b , my friend tyen said “ Oh dont give me that mate !!!!

All these years coming to Pattaya I have never been overcharged in a 711, well not to my knowledge anyway.
today i had my mind on something else and i didnt think to roughly add things up before i brought them to the counter.
my fault i need to be switched on.
so the nice girl adds things up to be 467b and i pay, when i got back to the room i realised most things i bought were about 25b etc and total added it up to around 300 baht or less
Silly me didnt ask nor was i offered a receipt.
Now i know u can be ripped off any 711in the World not just Pattaya but the question is , is it possible?
say the clerk scans the item twice ,it comes up on the computer to pay, how would the store clerk keep the money, would they have to delete the items they scanned me for,is that possible?
Im asking if its possible in a 711 because im sure 711 have systems in place to know if there employees are continually deleting purchased items ,msybe thats not how they do it.

Im posting on behalf of a friend currently in Pattaya.
He is a type 2 diabetic so doesnt use a needle or require insulin as he takes daily medication.
He has left his blood prick test machine at home can he buy one from a pharmacy in pattaya and if so which one ?
he lost his medication “ Metmorfin” , can he see a doctor in Pattaya who can prescribe it.?
There must be a few diabetics type 2 on here ,how do u manage in pattaya .?
is there any clinics for diabetes?

People are jealous because it's a "authority" "sort of thing , they have this psychological idea the farang cop can't tell me what to do no sireee and i will confront him etc etc and no authority will ever tell me what to do etc because they are wearing a uniform no way they think to themselves.
a few years ago finishing my night security guard shift in farangland at the factory I went over to the bus stop across the road to get the bus home.
usually I wear a jacket or shirt to cover the uniform but it forgot it that morning so here I am standing at the bus stop wearing my white security shirt .
Some teenagers go past riding their skateboards and I move out of the way ,one of the teens stops and ask if I have a cigarette and I said no and I ask him about his skateboard , after some friendly chat he rides on.
A moment later a old guy comes up to my face aggressively "how dare you security guards pick on kids ?? He shouts
"all because they wanted to ride their skateboards ,how dare you ???
"kids being harassed !!!
I was flabbergasted , I was going to say something to him but I was too tired .so I walked around him to get on the bus.
it goes to show that some people have a psychological problem when they see someone in a uniform
they think they need to confrontation by that person that's why after my incident I always changed my uniform going home from work otherwise you end up getting some me DH who wants to confront you .

I was actually surprised he told me some things in Pattaya were more expensive than Australia eg kilo of apples and tomatoes

It's a lifestyle choice to live frugally
many old pensioners do it now in their own country why not Thailand?
look I need a TV but many now don't have a TV and prefer to read books off their IPad etc
my friend who lives cheap at the Nirun doesn't have or want a TV he prefers his Ipad
whats the difference living on 40k a month in your own country or Thailand, none really, in fact if u own your own condo it can be a good life
my friend has a spotless breezy large studio up at the Flybird and lives on his pension of approx 40k a month disability pension and still saves about 15k a month !
he suffers from OCD where everything has to be in order eg his kitchen cupboard has tin food and the labels have to face the front etc
his shoes on the shoe rack are in straight order and in plastic bags etc that kind of illness he has same with his daily routine of cleaning every morning and using disinfectant and measuring it in the measuring cup so he knows approx how much he gets per bottle over a month
the only electricity he used was the portable stove tops, electric jug , and a small bar fridge and several stand up fans .
he still said his electric was around 800 a month , would that be right ?
it takes time getting used to the heat without aircon , the first few days I was sick , tired nauseous etc but I finally got used to it
But he lives better than in Australia
-
A room at the Nirun can be as low as 4,000 a month but my older friend owns his own large studio , has balcony etc and very airy with fans so doesn't use Air con
I plan on buying a studio either in the Nirun or flybird next year but I'm going more for Flybird as it's walking distance to most things .
dont need cable TV as I prefer to watch things on my iPad and buy a monthly prepaid and don't watch much TV
one of my friends buys those cheap noodles 8baht and cooks up some broccoli or carrots with it in his condo using the portable stove he just boils or steams his veggies and adds the noodles
he has never been healthier since moving to Thailand and eating much better , he lives on approx 35,000 baht a month but owns his own studio condo over at the flybird

I have wanted and will eventually retire to Pattaya
This trip i was going to make a decision just like every year but i have decided the time is not yet, it may be next year it may be in 10 years but its not at this stage of my life
Now i met a guy last night in a bar who has taken 9 months living here in pattaya to make a decision to move here , he decided its not for him, it has taken 9 months but he is only 54yo and took 9 months paid long service leave from his Police officer job in the UK and rented a condo in jomtien
but he has decided he is too young and wants a few more years of work yet in the UK, because at this s stage he started missing things in the UK and getting depression not working and not doing anything
i think really its a great great idea to actually plan to live here at least 6 months before making a decision to SELL off your house back in farangland wherever that may be.
its exciting on holidays but far far different living here
To me its not time because im still middleaged, i still have a relatively safe job, i still can make more money , and im worried i will get bored living here in pattaya .
and i dont feel love is real here
-
Believe it or not im finding it difficult to buy those picture doorway beads or strips that u hang on the doorway
i have been everywhere to find them in pattaya no luck
i see many restaurants with them etc
anyone know where to buy!?
-
there was no Acond in the room only a fan... at first it was very very difficult i had to drink that glucose stuff, after a coulple of weeks i got used to the heat , and didnt want Air con on anymore
another thing is i found people were friendly unlike the rich condo buildings where tgey dont even say hello

If he lost 15 kgs in a month then he would have started way , way over 80 kgs , 150 kgs would be closer.

I haven't bought a Subway here for years - and years ago they were already way overpriced. Over 200 baht for mostly bread (sometimes dry bread) is just not worth it, especially since most of the staff mess them up and you end up with a pile of rubbish in your hands instead of a sandwich.
Subway is more expensive here in thailand... turkey and ham foot long 380baht !!! I said no !!
