  1. Thanks for the replies, im trying to stick at this job the best i can because the money is there.

I just had a bar owner from KK email me to tell me he's on his way back to New Zealand to work in construction for the next 3 years to save to come back to Thailand and good on him for thinking of his future.

But if you do go back, go at it warts n all meaning find a job with long hours , even find a 2nd job drving a cab or something, make it your first priority .working .working saving working saving nothing else .

Onky have that ONE goal and thats to get back to Thailand!!

Too many goals and it gets mixed up.

Its not going to be easy though , but you need to sacrifice your time now for later .

My goal is to work as many hours asi can to SAVE to get back there .

Now i have no other goals BUT to save to buy a house or condo and enough to buy a business of some sort.

I have worked out 3 years working should get me there cmfortably.

I am investing my $4000 money saved into Shares but will look at paying off a house in the Country which should of made a Capital Gain hopefully in 3 years.

As for my housing situation, because im working 12 hours a night and hopefully will soon work 7 nights a week , i have rented a share room in a house nearby to the hardware warehouse.

I pay $100 per week but im only there during the day to sleep.

Im trying ti get my eating right rather than buy takeaways , im trying to eat fruit vegetables etc but drinking so much coffee.

Im taking Berocca drinks a lot .

I know another guy here in Sydney , he' 48yo living in a single room same as me , he' came back after 7 years in Udon Thani, he's washing cars for a dealership monday to friday and working as a cleaner on Saturdays at a sports ground followed by driving for Uber any time he can .

He even is desperate for the cash he done work a few shifts as a bouncer/security at a rough nightclub , i dont think i could do that !!!!

But im tryng to look for resilience and being middleaged i get tired quicker than 20 years ago ., so im motivated but being in a semi sleep less state half the time, sometimes it has its advantages , and having a major GOAL has its advantages to your life because i stopped worrying about other things in my life , even going to the supermarket this morning after i finished work some guy pushed in front of me in the line, before i would of said somethung now im too tired and have too many important things to worry about that him pushing in front of me .

Funnily enough i felt i was on some type of "high" walking around the supermarket this morning like nothing bothered me, usually im anxious but i guess its due to lack of sleep but i felt relaxed and still thinking onky of my goal.

Start wotking long hours like this , even if its driving for Uber or a taxi 15 hours a day and everything else in life, your problems etc become insignificant, you only have the ONE goal.

I am going to ask for 7 nights soon to get to that ONE goal even quicker !!

  2. I work for a relatively big Security Company and they follow the award rates, that is time and half Saturday plus double time Sunday which makes my pay bigger. Plus im on casual rates not permanent .

I work Tuesday to Sunday 6pm to 6am even though last Monday i was called in because my replacement called in sick.

How am i handling after all thise years in Thailand? Answer --- vert very very hard .

The work is not physically demanding, its guarding hardware warehouses at night , watching CCTV and walking patrols with only about 5 warehouse staff unloading the trucks at night im virtually by myself.

But 12 hours of vurtually sitting etc is starting to knock me around followed by sleeping then back up to do it all again.

I keep thinking of my future in Pattaya so it keeps me motivated .

Im trying to take extra vitamins etc to keep my energy up.

Im back again tonight for another boring 12 hours..i dont want to go , but of course I have to, my fear is going back to Pattaya with nothing so its keeping me motivated .

I hope i can last at least 12 months doing this because its very good money.

My greatest fear is giing back to Pattaya and being a bum like thise i used to see... Arse out of your pants, unable to do anything but walk around all day and eating noodles.

I couldnt afford to go out most night so it was sitting in the room at Jomtien or uo at Flybird Condo watching Thai tv because we didnt have cable .

Despite what Canarysun says and others, having limited money was no fun at all,you know how boring some days were in Pattaya??

Yes i miss the life in Pattaya, sometimes i feel like giving up this job and rushing back, but something stops me and says ' hey if you go back this time it will be your last and you will fail again .

I need to go back next time with enough cash to last me .

My plan is to go back buy a medium sized condo probaly around Day Night area .

Pattaya will always be there for me, my fear is if im there too early again in life , then it will change around me and leave me behind .

I do pity thse guys i see in their 30' and 40's who havent enough and surviving off even disability pensions but mostly their loans or redundancies , too young to live there in my opinion , come back and make money whilst you can .

  3. I have put this specifically in the Pattaya Forum.

Having lived in Pattaya a few years on a quite minimalist lifestyle I decided to head back to Australia .

Being middleaged I was quite lucky to find a high paying job with a lot of overtime .

Im saving over $4000 a month ( roughly 100,000 baht).

Its the best thing i did was come back to save for my future so ine day hopefully in the next few years I can go back to living in Pattaya comfortably.

The reason I started this thread is that I saw many farangs under 50yo living ion savings, or small income from bars etc.

Why waste your best working years in Thailand and then as you get older your forced to go back to your home Country.

Dont waste your life there , if you can go back to Farangland , work and save for your future.

  4. Going back to England in April for 2 weeks for the first time in 13 years, miss family and friends a bit, but for lifestyle nothing really except......

skyping mother- Mother (83 but still on her feet), 'You'll be alright, you can buy Thai food from the supermarkets or the restaurants'

'No! Mother, I love Thai food but I haven't eaten a Yorkshire pudding for 13 years, some beef with gravy, horse radish, shepherds pie, fish and chips' ...to taste once more would, or hopefully will, be so nice..please some home cooking....

And a long sunset....( family home in Penzance, right on the sea)

    13 years? ??

  5. Very easy to live on far less...I own my own Condo..just a Studio 32sqm but I have made it look very nice and has a large balcony.

I live on less than 10,000 most months.

I am middleaged but semi retired..I like to keep busy..I religiously clean my room everyday..I dont have tiles I have carpet which in hindsight was not a good idea but I clean up to 2 hours a day .

Sometimes I walk up to the Shopping malls compare prices and sometimes not buy anything at all.

There are some days where I do find boring but doesnt mean I should start drinking..i just try to keep.myself busy..I do get lonely as i dont have family anymore..but if friends are busy then I just try to go places myself...i have a extra single bed in my condo I could rent out but i find it difficult to live with someone a long time.

I guess im like be a loner..i dont need people to go out with..I can go out by myself and look after myself...

I had some Thai friends but i find it difficult to go out with them as i like to browse at shopping sometimes take photos etc and whoever is with me becomes bored waiting for me to browse so i prefer shopping by myself .

There is a gym near me PN gym but they want 1500 baht a month which is too much..i would like to join a gym but i not paying too much.

I have internet ..I dont need cable..it can be done...drinking..whoring..etc are the culprits.

  6. Congratulations that u can live a good life on 30,000 baht a month.

Many of us that own our own Condo do live on less than 15,000 baht a month and still live good.

I also love the Thai buffets ..i use to love the one on Third Rd eat as much as you want 112 baht....yes I did know other minimalists who would bring a plastic container along and when no one looks they would fill it up with the buffett food.

On another note at the markets today ..haggling away when a middle aged guy wearing a flowery Hawaiian shirt and having a Australian accent called me a racist because I was haggling...omg...

"DO YOU know how much you would pay for them shorts in Australia"? he yelled at me with his red face and hawaiian shirt.

I dont know but mind your own business.

  7. as he hold no authority, he can get my middle finger

I guess you have a Psychology persplex against authority...its imagined in your mind about these people and its only imagination that they if you met them they would order you around etc.

Im not sure why you have that...possible you have been hurt by someone in authority?

The guy could be exact opposite of what you think in your inagination...he might not give a rats boom about what you do.

Im sure there are some Bush type Psychologists who could explain it better...

  8. I would luv to see a morning time

    Talk back radio station here.

Now, I'm not trying to be smart....but do you mean, you'd like to HEAR a Talk-back Radio Station here?

YES..i miss Talk back radio where callers ring up and talk about the issues of tje day or whatever.

Could be good for Pattaya..say 10am to 2pm weekdays or night time with a shock jock.

  9. Aliens are forbidden to wear any Thai Government uniform and no matter what they may claim, they have no legal rights to question , arrest, apprehend (etc.) anyone! Whilst some volunteers who assist police do provide a valuable service, others are just foolish "Wanna Be's" who were failures (or worse) in their country of origin and should have thorough background check before launching themselves into a "Psuedo Carreer" in Thailand. There are cases of some (often self appointed) volunteers having serious criminal records overseas; - This farce should have been exposed years ago!

I have seen Dave the guy in the video several times..i believe he is with the Tourist police as oposed to the Foreign Police Volunteers? Someone correct me if im wrong.

    and speaks excellent Thai.

As for them having no rights to arrest you...watch the video and you see he s arresting Thais.

  10. Yes your screwed...this is not new!

I have been reading the Court Cases of people appealing this for over 10 years.

If you do a search of Federal Administrative Appeals Tribunal you will see umpteen Court Cases of Aussies appealing Centrelink decisions based in them coming back from Thailand and the Philipines.

95 % of them lost the case.

Look up those cases and read them theres quite a few interesting ones...as far as i can see by reading these cases is they want to know your permanent address in Australia the last 2 years....you will have to come back and stay 2 years.

  11. As far as I know..you are allowed to own your principle residence and get full pension.

So you tell Centrelink..im selling my house..and i think you have 12 months to buy another and your pension wont be affected.

Im not sure of how much money affects your pension.

As for selling up everything..just be sure that in the future if you get sick...cancer etc that you have enough money for treatment in Thailand.

  12. I think you have a much bigger problem than you realize.

You said you've been accused of killing a dog because "the villagers said i drive too fast so it must have been me". It's obvious the villagers don't like you. Your careless driving, your inconsiderate attitude has provoked the distrust of your neighbours. From your other posts it's clear you don't like the people who live around you and it seems the feeling is shared. Today it's a dog, no big deal. Wait for the police to knock at your door because a kid had been hit by a pick up that ran aI

The villagers for the most part have proved to be selfish and childish for example my Wife spent many hours helping 2 of them using our lawyer to "get him off" a charge of cutting another neighbours trees down..........some months later we asked the two of them could they water my trees one day whilst I was away...they came up with ridiculous excuses.

They both came to us when we moved in "begging" us to not let another neighbour cross our land which we agreed to as the other neighbour had in fact lied to us over boundaries. They spend all their time bickering I stay away well away form them

I have two dash cams on the car one front one rear, i am not the least intimidated by their childish antics and your wild guesses at what goes on round by me,

Lets see if they also asked the pineapple company down the road to stop their HUGE lorries racing thru the village.................hmmmmmmmmd dont think so or those kids on motocycles.....nah

You got too friendly with them..those sort that are fighting with other neighbours always turn on you eventually.

You have already helped them Sh.t on another neighbour with your Lawyer....you helped them Sh.t on another by refusing access.

They are trouble..you should of seen it coming...your fault .i hope tje other neighbour s now Sh.t on you.
