Ok, would you think about living somewhere in the desert? Probably not. Same same...

It depends, I think I would like to try out living say in Udon Thani in a condo for say 6 months

What would life be like ,well I have been to UT but only for short duration, living there it's a city now so has big gyms the only thing missing is sex workers as much anyway

Probably financially it would be the same as Pattaya renting a condo in Udon Thani

As for being a single expat in rural isaan I'm too scared to try it , I mean if I was use to the country feeling and maybe a loner I could do it

Rent a house in a village,is that even possible being a single old farang?

No we're obviously sitting here bickering over nothing, in reference to just about everything, because it's free, and a lot more interesting than telling a bar-girl with broken English where my name, what I'm from, when I do, which I go. And how mutt you pay.

I'm not talking about bars ,I'm taking more about do you.mix into social events ,like fo you go to the fireworks at night ,do you go out to songkran festivities and mix with crowds etc

  3. I'm guessing the old guys who go out to these events wouldn't be sitting on this forum ,they would be out there now I guess enjoying life .

I was walking home from work last night in Sydney about 1030pm only to see a drag queen probably in his 60's lining up outside a bar to get in ...it was a cold night and I had respect for someone like that who actually goes out to mix with the drunks and young people and lines up on a cold night to get into a bar rather than the rest of us who would prefer to go home and watch midsummer murders or touch of frost on tv

I knew a guy who lived out in the sticks in the Sakeaw area. He was 84. He loved his life. He was still healthy and able to drive. Didn't speak Thai but managed well. He'd drive up to see me and a couple of others in Buriram every couple of months. I've moved so haven't seen him for a few years.

    Unless he had a carer

That would be very hard but he may have been a loner type

  5. Centrelink / Social security department have a requirement you must be 2 years living in Australia before directly applying for the old age pension

So if your 65 living in Thailand you have to go back to Australia to receive it by 67

The thing is this ,imagine you retire at 62 or 63 with superannuation of say 500 or 600k now that is not going to probably last you 20/25 years of your life left

The other barrier is ..yes you can only have 280k in your bank to get the pension

  6. Last time I was o Pattaya I attended the medical clinic in jomtien a few times.

It was a lady doctor she was ok for minor stuff ,I think it was about 180 baht for a consultation I can't remember exactly

There seemed to be a lot of older expats in there but she didn't close her room door and I could hear / see what was going on inside

    What about others ?

Is Dr Oliver still going ?

  7. Very rarely do you see or hear of older expats single retired moving to isaan ,they all mostly choose Pattaya or Bangkok

But there must be older single guys who live in isaan cities  Udon or Khon Kaen etc who choose to be there ?

What about older expats single who live in isaan country areas ,is there any ?

I mean it would be a lonely life living by yourself on a farm or house in Nakhon nowhere

Of course I would be prepared to live in a condo in a isaan city like Udon Thani because of more amenities so do any of you and why did you choose those areas ?

Is your life just as fulfilling as a single expat say in Pattaya?

There are pharmacies that provide testosterone, i understand knuckle draggers come here for Roid holidays. If you can't inject yourself a clinic will probably do it for 100 baht

No I want to see a real doctor who will test my blood and legally prescribe it .

I guess I may have to look into a specialist in Bangkok ?

I'm going back to Thailand in July

  9. My testereone is low .high 100's

Unfortunately Dr won't prescribe but there are test clinics .

Please tell me those if you over 55yo who inject testereone.

I have been told the injections promoteston are better than gels etc

How do you feel now ,feelings etc

Is the injections go into your bum cheeks ,how much ml per week do U use at your age ?

Are you scared of prostrate cancer?

Do you feel less depressed ?

What about your libido sex drive?

And one other question, when I go back to Thailand in July for my holiday can I possibly get a doctor there legally to prescribe this to me ? After a blood test of course all done legally

My test levels recently were under 200

I've got around 110K baht/mo and doesn't always cover my expenses for 3 of us with no rent or car payments. I'd be living large as a single guy.

Your getting 110k a  baht month and U can't live on it ,am I reading that correctly?

Sorry if I'm not ,one of my eyes is currently having conjunctivitis

You need to see an Orthopedics specialist now. Scoliosis does not suddenly onset without prior trauma. The appearance of leaning to one side or the other might be muscular or disc related, my guess is the latter.

Im putting heat balm on it, you don't think it could be bone cancer ?

I went to the gym last week that could be related,I'm hoping it gets better by Thursday

I don't like taking paracetamol because of my liver disease which one day I may need a transplant so I'm forced to take the paracetamol because of the pain

I'm thinking of going to a chiropractor which there is one up the road from me but there's also a osteopathy?

  13. Guys right now I'm in bed ,the last few days for some unknown reason my spine looking in the mirror has curved ,my body is leaning towards the right side !!

I have lower back pain ,taking paracetamol.

I googled this ,it seems the symptoms of scoliosis.

My friend went out and bought me a back brace which has helped.

My question is ,I need to go back to work Thursday, will this get better ?

Who do I see ? Chiropractic? Physio ? Osteopathic?

  14. Everyone chooses Pattaya ... mostly...but as times go on , generations change ,cities change ,Asia changes etc etc

First of all I'm wondering does Pattaya ,in Thailand top the list for single male retirees ?

I would like some comments from others who have retired to other Asian destinations.

I want to compare this ,

So your a single mature age man

    Compare these retirement destos

    Pattaya Thailand ,

Financial - 9/10 cheap to live , rent cheap, good for budget living  , can easily live on $2000 aud a month 50k baht ,yes

Plenty of condos for rent on a budget to high class

Transport - Score 9/10 you have grab , bus , taxis ,baht buses , motor bike

Nightlife 8/10 ,plenty of bars , but NO  major concerts , ballet etc

Restaurants ,8/10 plenty of good restaurants from low to high class

    Massage 10/10, everywhere

Available hired  company 10/10 ,from bars to street hire

Medical care 8/10 big hospital to small ,but ambulance services fail

Crime 9/10 no crime ,can walk safely anywhere mostly

    Shopping centres 10/10

    Pedestrian safety 7/10

    Some areas have no footpaths

Now let's look at other Asia destos ,Cebu in Philippines ,Duamagette ?

    Palawan ? Davao ?

    Vietnam, ? Hanoi,ho ch

    Cambodia ? Siem reap etc

Define "little". I've seen posters on here that claim they need over 50,000 baht a month to live in LOS.

BTW, bar girls cost the same for old people- no old age discounts.

No I don't think you need as much at say 70yo or above living in 3rd world Asia whether that be Thailand or the Philippines or Cambodia.

    You would drink less (hopefully)

The only thing is medical costs

I never asked for a price. I paid him what I had to hand. 100 seemed fair including a "Songkran bonus". I can't be doing with this skinflint every baht counts mentality.

Well your either very rich or don't have much , because I personally wouldn't be tipping a baht bus driver 100b if I'm never going to see him again nor would he appreciate it nor remember you after the 3 seconds to pay him.

I'm not being rude but I generally find people like you who are careless with money don't have enough money in life for other things and spend carelessly

I have no knowledge of vitamin B 6

But anyway your asking about vitamin B 2 so please do not care

I am careful with money. Upcoming holiday in Thailand I picked early May rather than late April, booked on Agoda rather than Hotels.com, saved dollars but still pick nice hotels.

Flying on the wonderful Jetstar $380 return. Not sure that will be a wise decision or frugality for frugalities sake.

Never wanted nice watches or fancy bags. I understand wanting quality but not opulence for opulence sake.

I think you can get pleasure from saving similar to pleasure from spending and I suppose you can't let one or other take control.

Yes but  I notice young people nowadays especially in Australia love to spend money on brand name shoes ????  bags etc then have no money for their future

Calm down dear, calm down......money tight for you?......Sweating over 80 baht?

Well that's the problem I'm talking about ...farangs like yourself who may not have money because you giving it away eg not frugal and telling other farangs to not worry as it's only $3 or whatever in western currebcy ,so it doesn't matter ?

Often pay over the odds just to avoid any hassle.......if a tuk-tuk driver is asking for 150 baht and I know it's a 100 baht ride.......do I really care?.........just pay it and don't use him again.

Unlikely you will see the same tuk tuk driver though
