  1. Apparently a Rodney Dangerfield qoute ...but it doesn't explain the meaning?
  2. I wonder what that means though?
  3. I would have to say this is one of the best qoutes I have read . Never heard it before but actually relates to all of us who want to be future expats but need to keep planning
  4. In some ways your right , but I'm not pushed to leave ,I still have my secure government job, I have my own house ,and retirement funds but if I leave my job and will never get another one at my age So I must keep on planning If I was pushed out like him (sacked) then maybe but what if something happens, I might go to Philipines /Thailand and then get sick and then what ? What do I do if they say suddenly I need cancer treatment or something, I would have nothing to come back to in Australia I always recall that YouTuber who got cancer and he left it too late by the time he got back to his home country.
  5. I love all your posts but you lack "planning" What if he gets sick ? He is 60 next month ,he won't get the old age pension (67) because he obviously won't come back. And obviously they won't pay you with a lot of money in the bank It's planning that's lacking , life just can't fall into place ,it must be planned. Running away to another country to be escape past life 23 million baht only , no house in Australia, no support , what if something happens? What if he is involved in a accident or legal dispute in Thailand, how long does 23 million last a 60yo man ? Colleagues tried talking him out of it and to get a job in a petrol station at night or Bunnings hardware store but he was. Emotional
  6. It's too late .....that's why . You can't just leave somewhere and try to move back especially for the money he will have left . He had to live now for the next 40 years or so on that .
  7. Really ? It depends on what area I guess . Sydney is too expensive Queensland is nice weather Where would you pick to live in Australia?
  8. No but he is in " paid disclpline suspension leave " by Human resources Only rumours what he done but apparently used the work email to send "something" to a female colleague who he thought liked him . He was going thru a bad divorce at the time , he still was emotional the other day in the work mealroom when he visited. He looked like he had a breakdown, he was saying he is off and won't be back. He had no more house in Australia, and he has 2 daughters who apparently he is not close to 23 million baht sounds a lot but if he gets sick ,I told him he can't come back to Australia with no money he is off on November, 30 ,one way ticket to Koh Samui apparently, It's a risk ...a very big risk In his case he is losing his job,100 percent he will be sacked , but how many of you would LEAVE a secure job and take that risk with 20 million or 23 in his case Ok he is possibly the right age ,I myself I can't risk it I'm too scared ...but .. remember he is only risking it because of a tragedy in his life has pushed him this way ....loss of job....divorce ......
  9. There is a man at my work currently on disciplinary paid leave . But he is 60 and recently divorced and has 1 million dollars AUD which is 23 million baht , after selling the house in Australia and retirement savings combined 60yo He is going to Thailand ,no plans ,no nothing ,he has been there many times I told him not to ,he said stress ,life ,divorce , has given him a breakdown he must leave as soon as the money hits his bank account,he starts crying to me at work on one of his days of interview,he said I had enough, the house is sold ,the Superannuation will hit the bank account and I'm off ,no planning ,no nothing and I won't be back !! Obviously he won't survive, why ? No planning ,I'm 62 and still planning , unable to survive on that money for the next 50 years he has left . Did you plan on retiring to Asia or just left !
  10. Dee doom Dee doom Dee doom doom
  11. No because their are life qoutes that many have their own and are not known
  12. What's your life qoutes you have stuck by or should of stuck by What's your favourite life qoute One I heard today I should of followed Familiarity breeds contempt ' It think it was
  13. You 'd have to agree though some on here have had a "bad.luck " life. I agree though gambling is not bad luck , although apparently that black guy from NZ I think Israel adenyasnda or whatever is name is was talked up about to win . So bad luck to punters There is guys on here who have lost everything to Asian women whether they be Filipino or Thai ,just bad luck
  14. Had your life been mostly bad luck ,is it still majority bad luck ? Do you believe in bad luck? bad luck Bob I was talking to a workmate last night in the mealroom , we call him BAD LUCK BOB , his life is always poor him ,bad luck etc but then he came out with another story which makes me believe he genuinely is bad luck thought out his body if that makes sense So his story is he gambled a lot of money on this MMA UFC last week , apparently thousands on some guy who was apparently definitely supposed to win ! He lost ! The second thing is he was walking home from work late one night crossing a back street and in all the time he has been walking to cross these dark back streets he has never saw a car , well lo & behold he was crossing the road in this dark street last week to not only have one car spoed around the corner towards him ..but...3 ...all in opposite direction ! He ends up trying to run across the road before the cars blast their horns He told me he went to the park and just sat on the bench and thought .fxxxck what's the chances of that happening he shouts He then sits on the park bench in the park...a man walking his dog walks past...the dog stops ...then pees on Bobs leg ! This is 11pm at night !! Bob is shouting...11pm ! 11pm ! Now what chance in hell would that happen to someone! The 3rd story was we work in a large hospital he as a wardsman pushing patients , a day before a schedule of patients is written to say how many and where they are going eg x-ray clinic , radiotherapy etc . Bob was responsible for Ward 12 and boasted he day before he had only 2 patients the next day and Ward 11 which someone else was doing had 12 . He was laughing. Going to read the newspaper half the day in the mealroom he boasted Bob turns up that morning to find 10 of the patients from ward 11 had been moved overnight because of sickness to ward 12 .his ward !!! " they had to get sick when I was on the next day ! They had to get sick all of them ! Whats the chances of that ! Shouts Bob , What's the chances of that happening shouts Bob angrily....before taking a sick day and going home ! Just bad luck Bob ???
  15. You seem to be very concerned about others taking from the government? You seem very naive to know what goes on in Government departments Good luck to 4myego !!!
  16. Yes they would have to do some training, and it will be jobs they won't like , nursing homes are desperate for staff but do you really want to change Mr Smith's colostomy bag first thing in the morning ? I know some pubs are desperate for Security staff on weekends and by Law must have , so I imagine even at 65 you would get at least one pub somewhere employing on a Friday night you just to abide by the law , whether you want to stand in a door or in event security up to you.... but.....I see it ....I see old guys working event security at football matches etc
  17. Yes your right Maybe if you have a trade plumber or electrical but then the physical demands would be hard . class moving ladders ,carrying heavy equipment Professional Nurses will get jobs of course Aged care workers definitely but physical again washing people maybe your age and hard work low pay Disability support worker jobs I guess if you can work in that field with intellectual disability and have patience , dealing with that Doctors ,lawyers are ok will find work Bunnings ? Not sure of their policy Security guards Need a licence , casual work ,front desk in office , a lot take mature aged application especially the office front desk Bar work Work in pubs and clubs , need to know how to pour drinks Of course definitely pick up night club pub security but do you want to deal with drunks in your 60's ? I know the mount Druitt hotel is looking for staff on Friday nights Truck drivers , have a licence ,maybe forklift too , Bus drivers prefer mature age
  18. Unless you have a trade or profession you have little chance of being employed at 65 Who will employ you
  19. I notice at my local Salvo store in Sydney Australia they seem to be people doing " prison sentence community work " I overheard a old guy packing the shelves say to the woman behind the counter he had 8 hours left of his community sentence .
  20. Philippines ???????? is good ,don't base your opinions on a few bad cities , a lot of places such as Baguio ,Palawan , Duamegette etc are nice
  21. Bus driver ....Get your bus licence ,I imagine bus drivers are in demand...think overtime , weekend penalty rates , do you get double time there in the UK on Sundays?? Security guard ...need a licence ,a week training to get one ,casual work and I think a lot of casual work around Uber ...you will need a car though
  22. What night do you close the doors , open a packet of crisps or peanuts or whatever. And chill out and watch Netflix What's your relaxation day and what do you do . Do you eat all junk food that evening and smoke the wacky tobacky watching Netflix or sport Every Friday night even when I was in Pattaya I bought ice cream ,chocolate and salt & vinegar crisps and watched reruns of Columbo and Law & order lights turned out ,doors closed from the outside and Air condition on, laying on the lounge chilling out oblivious to the hustle & bustle outside in Pattaya What's your chill out night and whats your routine ? Do you have to be by yourself that day /night ?
  23. Won't be easy ? Well where are you living now ??
  24. And if you don't have full Insurance in Asia wherever you are ,and the dreaded big C happens and you need to go back like most ( one well known You Tuber left it too late to go back ) But if you do decide to go back don't think you can rely on others like kids or family they will get sick of you !
