Sounds like a simple language misunderstanding. All foreigners must be newbies or drunk otherwise they would know to walk away from any confrontation with Thai people. Your all lucky the motorbike taxi drivers did not get involved. -

Thailand reports 9,900 new cases but one small entertainment 100 cases, approx 1% of the countries. Muang has a population of 100,000, Thailand, a population of 70,000,000, approx 0.14% of the population That's a disparity of 700% When you only include the Entertainment area the disparity is astronomical. That's why I never believe figures from the government. -
A couple, earlier this year returned. In the SHA+ Hotel she tested positive and had to stay in hospital, he had to self isolate in hotel. At the end of his isolation, he tested positive so had to isolate a further ten days. I don't trust hotels, corruption is rife. He ended up £5,000 out of pocket.

Thanks Richard, I think the same. It's a bit of a nuisance as I have to book two different hotels and risk the (dodgy) test result from day 1.

With immigration normally counting the arrival day as part of our stay, does anyone have any ideas what the 5 days are for the second SHA+? If I arrive on the 10th Feb, do I book my second SHA+ for the 14th, 15th or 16th of Feb?

12 out of 750 members is 1.6%. Take that figure across the population equates to 1,100,000 covid cases. Just saying. -
Thailand detects fourth potential Omicron case, first three confirmed
Alidiver replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand testing regime is pathetic. You have it there. I don't believe any of the numbers from this government where you have to pay for tests and treatment. If you are unwell ( like me, and many others, March 2019) you stay in and suffer until you are better. My theory is that Covid in various guises has been around for years and Thais have already built up a certain amount of herd immunity -
Yes, Yes and No until borders are opened.

Last week a virologist, in his 5 minutes of fame here said that Thailand was inable to identify Omicron. I deduced that is why there were zero cases. Now maybe one hospital has the ability to perform tests?
-
Earlier this week a government official said Thailand did not have the facility to identify Omicron but they were working on it. Is this why there is no Omicron?
